View Full Version : Disgaea Laharl Cosplay Help?

Yes I am a girl, but I am determined to cosplay Laharl from Disgaea. I have yet to ever MAKE a complete costume (no sewing machine or money for fabric :(... :lost:

Anyhow, I can pretty easily get my hands on stuff to make the Scarf and the Shorts/Belt. Easy. But I AM having problems with other pieces of the costume.

1) I already have a base wig and I'd like to attach the two antennae pieces onto a plastic headband I have that I can paint to be blue... How do I make the antennae??? (Reference - http://media.photobucket.com/image/laharl/prinny_07/Laharl.jpg?o=12)

2) The boot Covers... I have NEVER had to make or get these for any costume... how do I make them??? (Reference - http://media.photobucket.com/image/laharl/Jefepato/Laharl.jpg?o=33)

3) His bracelet things.... How do I make them? And out of what?? (Reference - http://s103.photobucket.com/albums/m152/No1Wolf/?action=view&current=sdfsdfsdf.jpg)

Anyone who helps, thank you very very very much! I'm determined to cosplay Laharl, Flonne, AND Etna eventually cause I love them all so much! Disgaea Rules, Dood!:bigtu:

Disgaea is my favorite game series of all time <3

The antenna pretty much need to look like part of the wig, so you do need it to look like hair, you might have some luck by getting a second long haired wig coloring that and spiking/gluing it onto the first wig.

I am not quite sure about boot covers myself.

For the bracelets you can make those out of almost anything, wonderflex, craftfoam, polyurethane, paper mache, plastics, clays. Whatever you have on hand or feel comfortable with.

This may be helpful for the antenna. http://img261.imageshack.us/img261/5904/wigtutorial2.png

I wish I could help more. >_< I'll let you know if I can think of anything else. Good luck.

Thanks for the help guys! I have the scarf finished and I've bought binding! I'm currently in the process of buying stuff for the bracelets. The wig is going to wait a while longer but I'm not too pressed for time! ^^ Thanks!

I'm currently working on this myself so maybe we can both help each other rather than me making a whole new thread.

For the wrist bands I am considering making them out of wonderflex which would mark the first time using this, but I hear it binds together pretty easily. My only concern here is how to get the X shapes on his wrist band.. should I cut out the X's and glue/mold them on or is there a better way of going about it?

For the wig I am getting a wig, and some extensions. I was recommended making an antenna out of foam or wonderflex which would be attached to a hair band. Then I would iron out the extensions and glue them on the newly made antenna.

The shoes I plan to just paint a pair of leather shoes/boots. Although if you really want I can scan a tutorial on how to make boot covers

and as for the sword I am making the one that can be seen in this picture http://vianney.dubus.free.fr/images/disgaea_laharl_home.jpg

If anyone has any advice please send my way.

I have a dumb question. First off, I'm all for cross-cosplaying, but there is one particular feature about Laharl. He runs around with no shirt. How are you planning to go around that obstacle?

Oh oh! I had to help my boyfriend with his Laharl cosplay and these were the key things that I had to do for him!. I'll give ya a picture if you want to see but heres what I did!

- For the hair, I had a blue wig that didn't go to anything, so I had to cut it down to shape. For the antennae, I matched the wig color to ribbon and attached the ribbon to the wig. I put wire inside of the ribbon so it would help it to stand up. Which was fun, cause he let me mold it into a heart when we did a little Etna/Laharl fanservice xD

- I'm terrible with trying to find sheos that match cosplays. But he ended up finding these obnoxiously red Timberland boots that had white on the bottom. So all I did was get white fabric to make that cuff around the ankle, and he wore white socks. Not exactly the best, but it worked.

- The bracelets I had to get at Torrid. I got the biggest, bulkiest pair of bracelets and spray painted them gold. Make sure you use some kidn of sealent so the paint doesn't chip.

Hopefully this helps! <3

There are actually a few girls who have cosplayed as Laharl on here, and they use a skin tone body suit for their upper half.

Hate to bump this but has any progress been made since last time?

I'm going to be making a similar scarf soon for another character; considered using something to make the scarf flow constantly in the non-breeze? For photos it's easy enough to just starch it in one position and it'll look fine, but I'm thinking about making a shoulder harness (possibly adapting a medical neck-sprain thingy), gluing on a bicycle chain that snakes out like one of those plastic slither snakes, and draping super-lightweight fabric over it, stitching it on in subtle places...or possibly making a more lightweight corrugated plastic "snake"...
