Okay, I'm new to the world of cosplay. I play WoW, and one of my goals is to go to a Blizzcon event sometime in my life. I've also always been amazed by some of the cosplays I've seen, and I also want to create one of my own someday. So my question is: Where do I start? I assume you need skills for cosplaying, and I have very little idea of what it consists of. Should I practice creating costumes? Are there certain things I should do starting out?

First off, for any future WoW-related questions, here is the WoW thread:

If you've never made a costume before, I definitely suggest making several simple pieces, maybe at least one simpler costume before moving onto WoW. Many of those designs are very complex and can take months to complete. And for methods, you should check out the threads around here:

Specifically, lots of tutorials in the sticky:

Try a couple cheaper ones, such as cardboard and craft foam, out, and see what else you would like to try from there.

Okay, thanks for the help, and sorry about the wrong section. I didn't realize there was a section for World of Warcraft alone. I really appreciate it. I'll take your advice and go slow (luckily I have time for that, haha). Also thank you for the links. I don't know how I'd start without the help, so I really do appreciate it!
