A walking foam box with changing ESRB ratings, yes or no? Go.

Edit: Preliminary idea, no pictures yet. Idea was to implement a foam box in a shape of the standard ESRB rating(s) with flipping terminal-like ratings (like the ones you see in old-school airport terminals). Flipping the symbol, and the meaning of it (i.e T and Teen in this picture (http://www.guildwars.com/images/logos/esrb-teen-logo-lrg.jpg)) to different ratings using free-hands to change it. Near-to-scale and will include 2-3 extra comedic ratings (i.e S for Sexy or PH for Fail).

You will need something to rate. Not just an empty plain box. If you are doing it for lulz, make sure its funny and people get it.

In terms of carrying multiple ratings around, I could see having velcro strips n the front and thin black pouches camouflaged on the sides and back to hold extra signs. Or maybe attach clear plastic cases to the front so the ratings can slide in and out easily without all the noise of velcro.

I know I'd giggle if I saw it, so I'd say if you can make it work, go for it! XD

you might want to check if its ok with the con you plan to attend. Some cons, like anime expo, do not allow "signs" and may deem your cosplay as one.

Get photos with other costumes and set your rating to match them.

The main debut con for this will be the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX), and a guy holding up a cardboard sign was even put into one of their videos. Really? A no-sign policy? Even ESRB can be potentially screwed by this rule? Man...

Thanks for the feedback btw, I'm debating this or Ezio from Assassin's Creed 2; but I have a feeling that their won't be just one of him at a con designed around video games.

Most no-sign policies make exceptions for signs that are obviously part of a costume. Phoenix Wright cosplayers usually get away with carrying "OBJECTION!" signs, and once I saw people dressed up as 4Kids executives with giant "censored!" signs. No-sign rules were adopted to combat soliciting like "Will yuri for Pocky" and begging for money.

Ohohohoh! That's funny. If you can wear this costume, do this.
Just email a staff member and ask about the costume ahead of time. They usually have emails on the site for questions about cosplay, rules, etc.

I take it those are E, T, and M rated costumes, in that order?

I'm cleared for the main debut of this thing, Penny Arcade Expo ;). Pictures closer to the con (March 26th-28th)
