\this will be my first attempt at any cosplay and I quite nervous and having difficulty getting started,as I have no experience tailoring. My first choice is Simon as a child from Gurren Lagann.

I have made a checklist of what pieces I will need, but I the first and most critical piece is his jacket. I spent some time today going through all the charity shops in my town, and found many blue jackets, but many had faults that I could not see a way around(Stitched in logo's entire sections different colous, not actually being divided around the center.) their is also the issue of getting his logo on his back. Here is a picture of real cosplay one.

No one in my family or local friends has any experience is this so I feel quite alone, any advice on how to make a jacket like this?

Well, i know for a fact they sell that jacket in a lot of anime stores... for example, if you're in southern california, Small Wonders at the Westminister Mall has them.

If you still want to make it though, i'm lost, too. But for the logo, they do sell a patch of the logo online and in many anime stores. Its like, exactly the logo made by the company. So i just suggest getting that and slapping it on the back when you're done.

Here's an eBay link to the patch: http://cgi.ebay.com/Patch-Gurren-Lagann-Dai-Gurren-Emblem-Large-/390171358392?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5ad80674b8#ht_1000wt_1137

If the logo you find on a jacket at goodwill is a patch, You can just remove it carefully with some scissors or a seam ripper.

For my jacket, I painted a white circle and made a stencil of the skull.
