I got the blazer for my Ouran cosplay for 3 bucks at a Catholic Charity sale...but...it smells like old people

...Bad.

I've had the thing dry-cleaned but it still reeks!

Anyone know how to "de-smellify" a costume?

...Curently I'm just dousing it in perfume...

Normally If something stinks I use lysol spray.

Have you tried Febreeze? Or just something that is supposed to "neutralize" odors, instead of like a perfume which just layers another odor on top of what's there in the first place?

try rubbing dryer sheets on it to see if it will do anything. That tends to help freshen up smelly shoes...not sure about the antique smell

You may also be able to place backing soda in with the garment (like an open box in a pocket, or on the shelf above) which should help absorb some of the smell away.

I've read that a bit of vinegar works great for smells and stains.

You can also try Febreeze. I think perfume would probably only add to the scent; and not in a good way.

Get some "Renuzit" spray. Most grocery stores carry it, near the Febreeze and such. It's specifically made to get bad smells out of fabric without washing, and it saved my favorite bag from an untimely demise, after it had gotten absolutely saturated with cigarette smoke. It'll get out any smell, it's awesome.
