View Full Version : Braided wig?

I'm looking for a wig for a Promethea costume I want to do at some point in the near future. What I need is a longish (mid-back) black wig that's in those little braids (like many African-American women wear), with no bangs. I've been having a LOT of trouble finding anything like this; I've searched many online shops and the closest I can find are braid wigs with bangs. Has anybody seen anything like this?

Man, I looked for one for you too, and they all freakin' DO have bangs.. What's up with that? I think it looks dumb o_o..
Best I could find was this (http://www.ronjo.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=C&Product_Code=72177350506), but I dunno if that's really braided, or if it's uneven looking or if it's just the photo.
Edit: I found this (http://www.halloweenexpo.net/braidwiggotb.html) too, but that website is all screwy and it doesn't look like the braid one is for sale... why do they have two wigs in the picture?! That's just retarded.

Found this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3429045903&category=15737) on eBay. Dreads not braids though.

http://www.wigs.net/dlockl.html this looks really good but the price is a bit high. But it looks worth the price. Or you may have to make your own wig. I've seen hair come not loose but braided in the pack before and you could easily use the hair straight from the pack and tie them to a wig base.

grrrr. I guess I'll go to every African hair salon in town and ask...*sigh* I don't relish the idea of hand-tying an entire wig.
Thanks to everyone for trying tho...

You mean like this (http://www.costumeholidayhouse.com/store/retailresults.asp?ID=2040&Sug1=70062-21W&Sug2=A1107-1w&Sug3=30358AL-56w&Sug4=%A0&Sug5=%A0&Sug6=%A0)?
Granted, that one probably sucks, just based on the price, but at least there's one out there with no bangs!

OMG can I glomp you? I just finished reading Promethea #1-#31 and really want to do her red costume too -- although I think I'm going to fudge the armour because I don't think we can get any of the right supplies down here in Oz... oh well. Good luck with the costume, I'd love to see it when it's done!

Wow, a bangless braid wig! Yeah, it probably does suck for $9.99 but at least that gives me hope. LOL
