Hey everyone, I'm normally just a browser of these forums but I finally have a question about a Costume.

I'm going to be attending Otakon 2010 and I want to go as Marcus Fenix from Gears of War. I made a costume similar to this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJOpWUy-U68 but I am a heavy guy and my costume doesn't feel right. I was thinking of using upholstery foam instead of the cardboard/cardstock + fiberglass/resin combo. I have two old couches I can tear apart for the foam(old couches collecting dust) but I'd like some ideas you guys have.

Keep in mind, I'm a heavier guy. 290lbs and 6ft tall. My girlfriend helped me get my measurements for the prototype with cardboard but it just doesn't feel durable and doesn't fit right. I'd rather make a high quality one with Upholstery Foam/paint, then find a way to make it more sturdy.

Any costume inputs/idea's would be greatly appreciated. I also have the 12" action figure to get all costume the details off of.

I think i saw some time ago on 405th a bunch of pep files on the GoW armor, not sure if it was the whole set but there were quite a few. As for the right meassurments.... I guess you would have to scale it in pep viewer to get it right :/ Note that 405th's forum is down for some reason so you probably have to contact one of their members that might be able to send you the files. Hope this help, i used to have the boots/legs pep but i have no clue where i put them >.<

I just purchased nylon straps to adjust the bracers and greaves, but the breastplate still has me stumped. I tried cardboard but it feels flimsey. Can I use aqua resin and fiber glass to make it tough if I reinforce the tape with a gluegun?
