I'm making a Princess Peach SSBB costume for Otakon 2010. The only problems are that I cannot figure out how to make a decent jewel for the center of her top, and I have no idea what to do for her bubble umbrella. Does anybody have any tips?

Please, I need some help here - Otakon is nearly a month away!

try making the jewel out of clay. Preferably modeling clay.

Use an old umbrella, a pink one, and add frills at the bottom.

Where is Otakon?

For my jewel brooch, I used half of a clear ornament I bought at Michaels (Hobby Lobby has them also). These are clear plastic ornaments, available in multiple sizes, that are designed to come apart, giving you two halves of the sphere.

I painted the inside of mine with a shimmery aqua glass paint. Then I masked off the main section on the outside, leaving only the outer ring, and spray painted it gold. The best part is that these already have a hole at the top for a cord - I use clear stretch elastic cord (used for beading) and wear it as a necklace.

This has lasted me since around 2006/2007 and I bring my Peach costume to a lot of conventions. ^^ Definitely more durable than my original which was made from Sculpey and a glass gem (flat marble). That one was very heavy and remarkably fragile.
