Hey everyone Techrabbit here

Just wanted to let all my fellow AX'ers know about an awsome event going on next door to AX on Day 1:

"MAX, established in 2010, is a one (1) day event with no general attendee/badge purchase requirement and with no charge for admission to the general areas including the booth and gathering areas and is aspiring to be a key meeting place for fans that share a common interest with the event.

Nominal fees are charged for certain activities that attendees choose to participate in. MAX 2010 will be held on July 1, 2010 at the world famous venue-Club Nokia in sunny Los Angeles, California."

we have been talking about this in the other thread but I might end my day with that nice Wolfgang Puck meal and Animaid Cafe show.. How long will that show run though.

I know Yoshiki san charity event is that night.I am usually not too picky about money when it comes to some charity and a nice tasty meal with it.

I will be cosplaying my Vampire Knight outfit that night already.

I think I'll go. Yoshiki's gonna be there so that's reason enough for me!

Club 2 The Max sounds exactly like The Asian Karoako Invitational (TAKII) event that occurs here in the Philadelphia region. TAKII occurs twice a year, and it's been steadily growing. slowly but surely. Basically, TAKII offers the same thing: no badge requirement to get in, but to participate in tournaments, cosplay events or raffles you need to buy tickets. Club 2 The Max, to me, at least is a bigger, better version of TAKII. (TAKII originally was strictly a gaming event, with extensive gaming and tournaments. But over the last year, to accommodate interest, they've adapted to accept cosplay as an integral part of their event). If anything, it definitely sounds like something that will be worth checking out. I'm wandering with the Club 2 The Max's move to a "full convention" how they will handle admissions or costs. Renting part of a convention center will not be cheap, so they will be doing something to recoup those costs.

MAX brought its game face on back in July and delivered, Animaid, whose line, Eri Mano and X Japan so it has some pretty big word of mouth from people and sites going into next year. Here is wanting something just as big next year for the 3 days its around.

This should have its own con page imo, so people who don't know about MAX yet don't confuse it as something to do with AX.

Also MAX is probably the best for a lot of newer vendors offering a flat fee per table which includes all the moving, cleaning fees and if you want some extras it does cause a bit extras depending on what you want (islands, special areas) which is normal for companies to do that, but after seeing what Anime Expo is charging for tables after last years fiasco you don't want to be a smaller company who never sold at anime expo now since a 10x10 area will run you like 1,175 per so 2 will be like 2,300 plus anything else they might charge you.

Alumni magically get like 400 bucks off which is good but still with dislike and possible drop in attendance and numbers people will wait and rates do go up but for AX it regardless raises about $75 meaning about $1,200 bucks meaning they can wait, as for MAX starts off as $675, in Jan 1st goes to $725 and after April 1st is $800 but still pretty much cheaper for a new con to charge, but I know everyone will wait to see who gets what guests before they make a decision since everything is up in the air.

I myself will also wait to see who is announced but enjoyed the people at MAX i talked to including the PR, so they do have more a vote of confidence in me, so i told my vendor friends

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (October 19, 2010) Club 2 the MAX (July 1-3, 2011; Anaheim, CA at the Anaheim Convention Center), is where there is no general attendance purchase requirement and the public is encouraged to attend for FREE, is proud to announce Artist Alley 2011 (with NO HIDDEN FEES OR SURCHARGES) and terms available for 2011 and are accepting applications now. Contracts are downloadable from the Club 2 the MAX website under the ³Application Forms² tab at www.Club2theMAX.com

Club 2 the MAX will continue to support young budding and seasoned artists at its 2011 Artist Alley with financial relief during these hard economic times by providing affordable table rates, starting at $80.00 US per 2¹x6¹ table (until January 1, 2011 and $100 thereafter) with no additional fees for move-in/out.

All Artist Alley participants must have a valid CA State Seller¹s Permit.

Those interested in exhibiting at this year¹s event and have questions, please email info@club2themax.com

thats pretty cheap seeing as AX Artist alley tables where about 115-150 dollars last years, I really want to see this con grow so artists themselves can make some money, since I love seeing the stuff the draw and bring

The MAX forums have opened so it looks like we can go ask questions and even request guests there it seems. I think with Chase Wang's connections, it is possible that he bring amazing guests to the MAX event. So we should go post our requests there. Supposedly their staff are promising that they will take attendee questions and considerations very seriously for many things like convention operations, various events, guests, ideas.

Just as a side note...

You really need to get someone who is a staff of MAX to put in a formal request to create a new section for MAX to the Adminstrator of Cosplay.com as soon as possible. The sooner someone puts in a formal request, the sooner the Cosplay.com admin can create a whole new section for MAX here on the convention forums. Once the section for MAX has been created here, people don't have to keep shifting & searching through the AX forum section for news about MAX.

Cosplay.com also gets a lot of traffic both domestically & internationally, so it would be very beneficial for MAX to have a section here at Cosplay.com.

I'll be seeing you this year then, after all the difficulties AX has given me its easier just to go with my cosplay and con buddies to enjoy MAX, thou a few of us will probably sign up as volunteers for S.H.I.E.L.D., im also the same name on the MAX forums.

Very well put. Why should we continue to shell out our hard earned money and setting aside precious vacation time just so we can get a big heartache & headache in return? Whatever happened to just having fun? Some of those AX staffers who are carrying a chip on their shoulder & treating their customers with utter & sheer contempt, are making it easier & easier for one to choose to go to MAX instead. (If you treat your customers badly & take them for granted, they'll just take their money, and just go someplace else.)

As things grow they change, a very used line people know it eventually comes to down this road but thats just another story for the AX problems post. Here will simply be about talking and spreading the word of MAX and whatever gets announced as we proceed.

So Hakaider as much as you have every right to complain let's save that for the lurkers in that room lol. We saw that the arcade has been hinted at for MAX, free events, cheaper prices for Exhibit Hall and Artist Alley that will be free for attendees to enter, wonder what else we can expect

LoL! You just know that the lurkers from AX are going to come into this room as well.:D (In fact, I just felt a disturbance in the Force that they were just here. I'm sure both the Sith and the Jedi knights have felt their presence as well.)

I'm really hoping that MAX will get it's own section here soon at Cosplay.com.

Besides the possible arcade and free events, I think MAX is going to have an impressive guest list, and are going to have some big names in their concerts. (Chase Wang is now with MAX, and this is the same person that brought the SKIN Concert, the "Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" SOS Brigade Concert, Morning Musume, AKB48 to AX, and "X" Japan & Marvel Comic's Stan Lee to the 2010 MAX. You just know that the guest list is going to be super impressive.)

Plus, it's only a few blocks from Disneyland. (People can easily walk to Disneyland before & after MAX. The Anaheim Convention Center is so close to the Magic Kingdom, that you can literally hear the people screaming when the elevator drops at the "Tower of Terror". )

I'm just curious what Anaheim hotels will be reserved for MAX.

I feel like I'm more looking foward to MAX for next year besides Comic Con because of what they will bring to the table, which should be spectacular. I've been trying to spread the words around about MAX so we'll see what happen. I tried to pitch 'no badge fee' thing to them, lol.

be sure to let them know some events will have that small minimal fee but it will probably be the huge stuff, but other concerts, events and exhibit hall will be free just so they dont think everything is free but again should be pretty awesome with what
Hakaider said.

Send a PM to admin, or ZiggyB, Michi, Yui, JiaJem, or Hime No Toki who will tell admin. It's up to him if/when he decides to add it.

If/when one is made, I won't be posting much in there as I'll be heading to AX in 2011.

I'm going to AX 2011, but that doesnt mean other people have to so, people that i know that are on tight budgets im telling them about THE MAX. i even met a girl working at Walmart the other night that went to AX and Comic-con this year, those were the only 2 cons she knew about in California, so i pitched her the MAX and she was very interested.

since i HAVE already paid for AX im trying to think depending on What guests are going to be at what Con, i'll split maybe 2 days at MAX and 2 Days at AX.... not sure, im not getting a Hotel this year,i'll drive all the days if i do,end up going 2 and 2...

its a shame that both cons have to be on the same weekend, cause i would like to support them both, but it is no fair in a way to make us chose which is better. Its like fighting over a child (Do you love me or do you love her)????

daylight
10-28-2010, 06:44 PM
yeah. I was a bit surprised they were both on the same weekend. I had previously planned to go to AX next year, but between hearing about all of the problems at AX and the price difference between the two- MAX wins. not to mention Anaheim is in a safer place

it will start of slow but the idea is to tell your friends and get the word around, thats how all cons work. I remember PMX and Anime LA started very small PMX was alot larger since T.M. Revolution was the cons first musical guest which sadly I missed but it got its name there, sadly it was too costly for them so they never had a guest that big again but fans noticed and started going, recently PMX is more music and culture oriented over anime but still has a following, Anime LA is growing it itself every year, but I can see MAX booming even bigger seeing as a former PR company that worked for one of the biggest Cons has the know how to do this and is sponsored and wants fans to enjoy themselves, not many cans have started thay way but Chase Wang is himself an anime fan and very nice guy so kudos to him lets make MAX rock this year.

That would be cool. Since it's a long ways away though, probably won't have too many responses. I'm planning on checking out MAX on the first day. I already got AX tickets so maybe some days if I'm bored my friends and I will make the drive over to Anaheim. We'll definitely be cosplaying!

Meh... I got confused for a second since I googled Club 2 the max and none of the websites were loading. The new site url has changed completely.

90% of the ACC is being used for AM2. Areas haven't been disclosed but it might be a good idea to start postings for gatherings and posting it on their forums in conjunction. forms.am2con.org

I know there are postings for a hetalia group on their forums.

*shivers* sorry some of my club members utterly killed Hetalia for me in the recent months, but I think it be cool if the heads did something to get people interested in AM2 together and hold events, I went to one Anime LA had and made some new friends and people go to know some of the staff and workers and what ALA wanted to become and goals which was cool, plus some good food too haha.

But you never know they might be busy with getting things done for the event, but lets see if our words reach AM2. XD
