Hey guys,

Long time no see! It looks like finally after 5 years of cosplay-less-ness, I am going to DragonCon this year and get to cosplay again!

For a while now, I've been eyeballing Pi from .hack//Rebirth (especially after very quickly deciding my legs are too short for a Bayonetta cosplay). I'm already working on losing some weight so I don't end up embarrassing myself in her costume, or else I'll have to resort to my old gimmick of cosplaying a Pocky Box.

Anyways, here is the art for her costume:

And I found some YouTube videos that I can screenshot for the back of her costume, which is surprisingly simple.

The costume presents two very big problems;

1) It looks like most of her costume is made out of tooled leather. I could be very, very wrong, but I'm a leather newbie so this could be a bit daunting.

2) Her hair is ENORMOUS. I'm not sure how I would be able to get a wig with that much volume in it short of... making some sort of pink shell with a good bit of it and stuffing it with styrofoam?

If anybody has any suggestions I'd really appreciate it. ;D I'm really looking forward to this!

Thats a HUUUUUUUUUUGE project >=O looks fun ^^;

Hair glue "should" hold up the hair, although you might need to use alot more than 1 bottles worth. and for the leather work.. I have no idea on that behalf..
but damm lady, i cant wait to see it, looks like it would be AMAZING

good luck!

Ahhh~! Pi! I've never seen anyone do her. It it a very complex costume, but I think you can do it!

1) I think her outfit is more armour than anyhing else. For the bits of cloth covering her you may wanna do a PVC fabric choice.

2) And like you said, the best thing to do is to start off with a (bangless) base wig, getting matching extentions, and use a styrofoam ball in the center to give it a more filled/thick look. Plus it will be a bit more light weight. But you might want to add mini pins to the inside of the wig that can attach onto your wig cap/head to ensure it won't slip off.

Also, you should check out the .hack cosplay thread here (http://www.cosplay.com/showthread.php?t=127001&highlight=.hack). They can probably offer more advice.

I plan on going to DragonCon too and I would totally bring my Atoli costume if you come! :)

Thanks for the advice! :) For the bits of cloth I was thinking something matte, it seems to make more sense just going from the light reflections. Or maybe it's all really soft leather... ;)

The hair is a definite challenge. I was thinking starting with this wig (http://shop.cosplay.com/willow-pink.html) and then using extensions from there. Thankfully the bulkiest part of Pi's pigtails have armor over them as well, so this shouldn't be horrendous. It will still be weighty though, for sure!

Thanks for the link... I'll take it over there. ;)
