Does anyone know any good pattern links to make a male elf costume from Lord of the Rings. I don't want to make a character from the trilogy. I'm planning an AU idea for a different character but I need to make the elf costume. I'd like as close to the formal blue costume and I can get. Thanks so much!

Just a heads-up: there's already an LotR thread here http://www.cosplay.com/showthread.php?t=139207.

This site http://alleycatscratch.com/ is the most comprehensive one for LotR that I've been able to find.

Seconding Stormraven's recommendation. That site is GREAT. They have whole lists of specific patterns - not sure if there's a list for generic Elves, but there are for specific characters, and you could always do one of those patterns in a fabric of your own choosing.

Also, I know Simplicity did a pattern that was basically a simplified version of one of Elrond's robes. I believe it is out of print now, but you could probably still find it on Ebay or possibly Etsy.

Garuda- That's the one! Legolas' pattern is actually pretty nice. I haven't used it, but it looks like it would be a good starting point.

Thanks for the suggestion! And the costume I'm making is to be used for a character from a different series. So I didn't really know where to put a crossover idea.

Well, since you said in your fist post you wanted to base it on an LotR elf design, specifically the blue formal (do you mean the blue undershirt Legolas wore in Lothlorien in the first movie, or the one he wore at Aragorn's coronation? I'm a bit confused by this), it would probably be more appropriate in the LotR thread. But whatev!

I still highly recommend Alley Cat Scratch just for the sheer amount of info on constructing the basics and even into the tiniest details; just take a look at the section for Arwen's coronation dress and you'll see what I mean @_@
