Hey guys! I'm cosplaying as Totoro for my local anime and video games con, and I need some help. I'm doing a furry jumpsuit kind of thing, based off a Simplicity pattern. I need some way to make it fat though! I have so far though of a hula hoop, or something else round to put around my middle, or stuffing, but not sure what to do, really. I do know that I don't have the skills or time to fiddle about with wire or foam, so does anyone have any ideas or advice for me?

Yeah, I'd say like hula hoops or some sort of wire frame like that. Build the form first, then cover it in like the fur suit.

You can do a series of hoops going up and down in size, held in place with straps; when I worked at a mascot shop we made a round costume like this. It's basically like making a hoopskirt (http://trulyvictorian.com/catalog/141.html).
