I'm activelly involved in the Colorado Steampunks group based out of Denver. We try to have one major event/gathering per month, and one smaller one. Our gatherings aren't completely unlike many cosplay gatherings that I've been to: find a cool place to visit, and swamp the venue with people. 90% of our group coordination happens on Facebook, though.

We went to a railroad museum in November and got news attention:

I've also somehow become involved in the upper loop of the group and its offset: Victorian Productions. We're working on several projects right now, including a new con *pokes signature*

I'm an active member of the Atlanta group Terminus Steam(alternatively written Terminusteam). We meet up monthly and many of us go to the monthly masquerade held by a local burlesque troupe. We have our own con, too. Also, any occasion which invites costumes or eccentric formal wear is an opportunity for me to show off.

I wear my "full dress" SP outfits to events such as the Handcar Regatta in Santa Rosa, the Rivertown Revival in Petaluma, pop culture conventions, or any event or festival where it would seem appropriate (all of which are in California).

I do NOT, however, wear SP to Victorian or Renaissance reenactments. That's a big no-no for me.

I tend to wear casual steampunk almost anywhere, but I feel most comfortable on my museum outings (of which I make many).

I... go to conventions and then feel like crap when I see everyone else's crazy awesome steampunk machinery.
