I love this show and want to cosplay Ms. Rachel Berry at AWA 10 (since it's a couple days before the second season premiers). I wanted to know, will I be recognized? I'm planning on this (http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://glee.hypnoweb.net/photo/156/galerie/Personnages/Principaux/rachel-berry-glee-emajandra1.jpg&imgrefurl=http://glee.hypnoweb.net/personnages/principaux/rachel-berry.156.38/&usg=__bUcnp7U5a8FDuxfo892QSORdRXo=&h=388&w=337&sz=30&hl=en&start=3&sig2=4mb40WOEf6vW13MH2ywosg&tbnid=xXECsP6KAd85lM:&tbnh=123&tbnw=107&ei=35RPTK_1BoX_ngfGsbSQBw&prev=/images%3Fq%3DRachel%2BBerry%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26s a%3DN%26rlz%3D1B5_____enUS386US389%26biw%3D1152%26 bih%3D610%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1) outfit.

I'd probably recognize it but that's because I'm a gleek.

I have plans as of now to do Blaine (Darren Criss).
I think I might be the first person to be doing this. lol

Ref Pic (http://3391.voxcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/Glee-Never-Been-Kissed-03-2010-11-09.jpg), Ref Pic 2 (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_RpkFEaWkb1o/TNtb37-9yjI/AAAAAAAAAhw/1d_SeUYBBoY/s640/darren+criss.jpg), Ref Pic 3 (http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_PvJ865tx8Yk/TNrWoAiYQuI/AAAAAAAAEkU/eUWuibE-C90/s1600/20101021130445%2521Dalton_Academy_Warblers.jpg)

Sadly, I don't think there's a ton of other Glee cosplayers, especially not at the cons I go to.

Ideally I think I'd need someone to cosplay as Kurt.

It should be a pretty easy costume though. I just need a navy blazer. Any suggestions for the red trim, anyone?

Also will probably have to order that tie online, since it's pretty specific.

The school logo will be a pain in the ass too. It's a D crest for Dalton University. I believe it's known as an applique patch.

Reference Pic (http://static.wetpaint.me/glee/ROOT/photos/glee-lunch7.jpg)

Otherwise outfit is supremely simple as far as I'm concerned. Some kind of grayish pants, black belt, white dress shirt and my hair is already quite close.

I think I struck gold on the tie. I found a number of them on ebay that are only about $6 shipping inclusive, and are an exact match.

Tie 1 (http://cgi.ebay.ca/VINTAGE-BROOKS-BROTHERS-TIE-3-1-4-red-blue-striped-/150521306740?pt=US_Mens_Ties&hash=item230bc4de74), Tie 2 (http://cgi.ebay.ca/VINTAGE-ROOSTER-TIE-blue-red-striped-3-1-2-REPP-SILK-/150519931844?pt=US_Mens_Ties&hash=item230bafe3c4).

I'm buying the first one since it wound up being cheaper.

The blazer will probably have to be something I modify myself, but I was able to find a place in New Zealand called Newlands College whose uniform looks very similar:

EpicOrange - I would absolutely recognise you. Any fan of Glee should. ;)

Inuki1 - That's so cool that you're going as Blaine! Great idea. The red trim on the blazer is very simple. You just need to go to your local sewing supply shop and buy some red bias tape, maybe about 3/4" wide, folded. Make sure you take a photo with you so you can get exactly the right shade of red. Then all you have to do is sew it on around the edges (placing the collar edge in the fold of the tape). Sew both along the edge of the collar, and the inside edge of the tape. I actually did something really similar to a trench coat recently.

I was going to offer to do the patch for you, but I'm more of a hand embroiderer, and I'm guessing you want something that's more machine embroidered? If so, you should try looking around etsy for someone who will do a custom applique patch. You could make an Alchemy listing.

I might be dressing as Quinn. Who's going to which Con? Maybe we could make a Glee group.

12-21-2010, 08:38 AM
I've got a Quinn Fabray cosplay coming up in my future too. Gleeks unite! I'm actually torn about which dress of her's to do, anyone mind weighing in on what would be more recognizable? It's between her dress from "This is a Man's Man's World" or her pink publicity dress. Pics here:

Man's World - http://humarashid.files.wordpress.com/2010/06/quinn-dianna-agron-glee-business-casual-superstar.jpg?w=254&h=644

Pink - http://www4.images.coolspotters.com/photos/241720/quinn-fabray-profile.jpg

abbie17 - Which Quinn are you planning to do?

Inuki1 - A Blaine cosplay sounds awesome, you'll post pics when you're done right? I'm dying to see one. The Dalton uniforms rock ^_^

01-13-2011, 05:42 AM
Abbie) Thanks for the advice about the trim and patch. I probably will have to get the applique patch custom made by someone. Hopefully it won't be too outrageously expensive.

Husk) I'll definitely be posting pics when done.

Also, the Pink outfit is more recognizable as Quinn for me. The most recognizable Quinn outfit is the Cheerio one. Pink one is a close second.

Tie Acquired! (very close match)
Dress Shirt Acquired!

Going to take my time to find the right blazer and pants. I'm not in any rush and I want to get it as close as possible.

01-20-2011, 04:19 AM
I'm also thinking about cosplaying Blaine at some point. I've got a friend who can probably make the Dalton patch for me, but finding the right blazer is proving to be a bit difficult.

I've got no idea what con I'll wear it at, but I really like the character and want to get a Dalton outfit together so that I can cosplay him if I try to get a group together for one of the bigger cons I go to.

02-08-2011, 12:52 PM
im going to be doign blaine too, and a friend of mine is being kurt for me (so exited about that) but just thought id share. i found this blazer online. http://www.amazon.com/UAW-Professional-Blazer-Navy-Blue/dp/B00354XEAQ/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1297190317&sr=8-8
its not an exact match but its fairly close so im gunna use that and just alter it a bit.
hope it turns out well.

02-09-2011, 09:38 PM
My friend and I are planning to cosplay from Glee for Otakon, actually! The only thing we're at a loss about is Blaine's hair, though. Does anyone know where to get a wig I could style to look like his hair?

02-11-2011, 12:22 AM
I was thinking about this thread recently and thought of what would be the most memorable outfits. The cheerleading uniforms, the Warblers' uniforms like the people above, the regionals outifts (http://i766.photobucket.com/albums/xx302/ajithrockscc/Music%20Album/Glee-The-Music-Journey-To-Regionals.jpg), and the Lady Gaga outfits. Although that last one might get confused for simply Lady Gaga.

02-17-2011, 09:21 AM
My Blaine costume is coming along nicely. I have pretty much everything for it. Just working on putting the red trim on my blazer now and waiting on my friends mom to make the Dalton crest for me to put on it. I'll post pics once I've got most of it finished up. I don't think I'll have a chance to debut it before Glee tour in June, but that's fine with me. More time to perfect it. :)

02-17-2011, 10:32 AM
I'm not much of a Glee fan, but for the fans of Darren Criss here (i'm not sure how widespread this is yet) make sure to check out A Very Potter Musical. Do yourself a favor, it's pure genius.

Forgive me if everyone and their brother has heard of this already

02-18-2011, 02:10 PM
Blaine costume update! Everything is coming together a lot faster than I thought it would. I have all the red bias tape pinned onto my blazer and I just need to sew it all on. And my friends mom is making the Dalton Crest patch for me so I'll have that eventually. I have WIP pics of myself in the costume on my page: http://www.cosplay.com/costume/353953/

02-19-2011, 12:04 AM
kari 171: i like your blaine! good job look forward to seeing it finished

my blaine jacket is almost done just need to add the Dalton crest, which means i have to make it first and then put it on but that shouldent take me too long. by the end of the weekend hopefully. ill have pics up soon! also dyed my hair so its the right color now for him. wootness.

02-21-2011, 06:36 PM
so it dosnt have the crest yet but here is my jacket and tie and well the pants are their but you cant see them much.

03-02-2011, 08:14 AM
sylus: Your jacket looks good!

Haven't really been able to work on my costume much lately. Stupid work keeping me far too busy. I'm hoping to have the trim sewn on sometime within the next few weeks. And then all I have to do is wait for the patch that someone is making for me for my costume to be complete.

03-12-2011, 04:50 PM
so im gunna try to get pink framed sun glasses but otherwise blaine is done. here is the finished pic (with the patch) >> http://www.cosplay.com/photo/2871243/

@kari 717 -hopefully you will have time to work on yours!

03-19-2011, 10:41 AM
Looks like quite a number of you have plans on Glee, can't wait to see more from you all *W*

My plan is basically inspired & based on creativity >W< I would love to do a female version of the Dalton uniform, which consist of the Dalton blazer & a pleated skirt. The blazer is originally hip-length but it does not go with pleated skirt's flare so I will adjust it into waist-length instead, everything else remains the same <3

As for the character, I am going for Female!Kurt (What to do? I am way too girlish & I love Kurt a lot <3) & here's the question >>

1. What sort of hair will you suggest? (I might be using my real hair, as it has the right shade & right fringe parting XXXD My hair is chest-length in wavy curls FYI ^O^ But having a wig is good either >W<)

My friend and I are planning to cosplay from Glee for Otakon, actually! The only thing we're at a loss about is Blaine's hair, though. Does anyone know where to get a wig I could style to look like his hair?

I guess I am a bit too late, but you might want to check on other characters will short hair such as George Koizumi from Paradise Kiss >>
Here's a thread related to George's hairstyle ^O^

Good luck to you & your friend! :bigtu:

04-06-2011, 09:42 AM
I once had this big conversation with my friend about Glee cosplay, I want to be Kurt, but I really don't think I could pull it off.
I might try it eventually.
I would love to see Glee cosplayers. Personally I would freak out if I saw any where I live.

04-06-2011, 11:05 AM
Glee cosplays! eek! I would eek!

05-02-2011, 07:25 AM
Well, fellow Glee cosplayers.

Since the time of my first post, it seems the Warblers & DCriss have been pretty explosive. Their accolades now including top selling singles on iTunes, Top 40 Charting tracks, Interviews with Billboard, and appearances on countless talk shows.

My progress has been quite stunted- slowed down by RL. I actually was separated geographically from my Warbler tie by an entire country, but we've been reunited now.

Conveniently, a relatively unused cosplay item that I found hanging in my closet is a well-fitting navy-ish blazer. I'm going to take some pics and maybe you can lend some advice as to whether it's appropriate?

I've also got a rather dapper haircut now which should be appropriate for my upcoming con in August.

Will still need to do the red piping (shouldn't be too troublesome), acquire correct pants, and the crest patch (any advice on how to do this guys? I noticed some people had made some rather nice ones so far).

Will snap a few pics and post them over the next few days. Any advice/comments would be appreciated!

05-02-2011, 10:31 PM
Since I got a cheerleader pattern I played with the idea of cosplaying one of cheerleaders. I don't know. I love Glee but I don't think I resemble any of the characters that much.

05-03-2011, 04:16 PM
Looking forward to seeing another Dalton costume. :)

As for the patch, I got mine from someone who was selling them on Tumblr. And I also hand painted a few as well, and they work just as well as the ones I bought. I'm not sure if the ones from the tumblr seller have all sold out, I know she was putting in another order for 100 more after the initial batch sold out, so if you look for madperson on there you can try and find out. :)

05-18-2011, 01:07 PM
Hi all. Really new here.. And new in a few aspects.. I found this site while trying to search for a Dalton crest patch for a Warbler uniform I'm trying to make. Not really for a cosplay, convention or anything, but just for Halloween and to have one. My friend is going as a Cheerio and I was thinking Warbler, since, well the Warblers are rockstars! Haha Not necessarily going as Blaine... since well, Blaine is Blaine and there is NO WAY I can compare to THAT!! haha

Anyway, I loved reading about the advice everyone has posted with their experience. I'm going Blazer hunting this weekend since my ties will be here hopefully no later by Saturday. Will be working on this whenever my free time allows... which really isnt much. But I look forward to trying to share my progress with you guys, though it will probably not be as great as the rest of you.

Oh, if any one is looking for ties (if someone hasn't found one or someone new is looking for them) I got mine (I ordered 2) from here http://www.tieguys.com/Detailed/4849.html Thanks guys!! Talk soon! :D

05-28-2011, 03:26 AM
Hey guys, I'm joining the Glee cosplay bandwagon!

I'm also planning on making a Dalton uniform for myself (with another for my friend) so I'll be working on that over the summer. I found another tie option if anyone's looking for another:
(the red and navy one - they're available on .com and .co.uk as well, I just have it on .ie because I'm in Ireland!)

Looking forward to Gleeking it up with you guys!

06-13-2011, 07:35 PM
Well, I finally got around to finishing my Dalton Uniform. It turned out quite well. Will debut this outfit at the Glee Live concert I'm going to in just a few days. :)

*Joining the Dalton Crew*
I love the Warblers- despite being in New Zealand, I have their album!
I hadn't really considered cosplaying them but recently I found a guy who makes blazers in my neighbourhood, and it took a few weeks to sink in, but then- lightbulb moment. I don't look like Kurt or Blaine, but I thought thats okay, if I learn a few of the dance moves and sing, then I can perform at my local Con in October.

Im surprised there arent more Glee cosplays- but thanks for posting your pics- they really inspire me!

@randomstuff: You're from Ireland? Gleeks from around the world Unite!

@randomstuff: You're from Ireland? Gleeks from around the world Unite!

Indeed I am! High five for international Gleeks!

My Dalton patches arrived today! They're a little smaller than I expected but now I can at least get started. I still need to get/make my piping for the blazer though...

07-25-2011, 03:37 AM
^Oooooooh, they're so pretty!

If I had thought about it, I should have ordered mine in too. But thats okay,
I've just paid this guy to get my jacket commissioned- should be done in a month.

The con here in New Zealand is not until October, so Ive got some time to get my
song and dance act together, to do requests. Gonna take my video camera and record me randomly singing to people. Though... in true Blaine style, I should be serenading the hot guys at the conference- LOL!

07-25-2011, 10:25 AM
Slowly but surely, my Dalton outfit is coming together. My patches are on order and will hopefully be here in a few days. I bought a blazer that I thought looked as close as I'll get to the actual thing. And the awesome thing about it is, I only spent $1 for it from Goodwill. Funny thing is, Goodwill is becoming my Halloween costume store!! haha Last year I needed a coat that resembled the 10th doctor's and found one close (color was wrong but oh well).

http://www.twitpic.com/5uq2f2 (http://www.twitpic.com/5uq2f2)

I know the blazer looks black in that last pic but it's a navy one. The lighting in my room mixed with my iPod's camera didn't really take a good shot. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where I can possibly find the piping online? Or maybe I can get a name and try to find a "local alternative". Thanks for any help. As soon as I get everything finished, I'll post some more pics.

08-14-2011, 07:28 PM
Well, I have FINALLY finished my blazer!! :D I would like to give a special shout out and THANK YOU to Kari who helped me track down the finishing touches!! I couldn't have done it without you. I'll post a few more pictures later on my profile. I need to do a few touchups here and there but at least it's finally finished BEFORE Halloween! :D Enjoy! :D

Just sharing a pic I took of a Kurt and Rachel at NatsuCon.

Anyone going to NYCC on Saturday cause I'm going to dress up as Kurt Hummel. I just can't decide which outfit of his to do. His warbler jacket but I'm a little iffy cause I don't want to be mistaken as Blaine. His Cheerios uniform or his performance outfit for Born This Way with his Likes Boys shirt and stuff.

The Likes Boys shirt would probably be the most recognisable as Kurt, but I guess it depends on what you already have? The Cheerios uniform would be really cool too :)

I started on my Dalton blazers last night... my first time using bias tape and I'm already in a love/hate relationship with it! Those damn corners!

08-26-2011, 03:34 AM
Really cool series. I saw all seasons and i recommend all to watch it.

08-26-2011, 04:12 PM
I thought I'd share this blog: Dress Like Glee. (http://dresslikeglee.tumblr.com/) I still don't think I'll be doing an actual Glee cosplay as I don't think I look enough like any of the character although I've been into Rachel's style lately. So I like to look through it for things that she would wear.

Your blazer looks fantastic! Great work!!!:skidude2:

Mine's getting commissioned but I dont think it will look as good as yours... I had to really negotiate with the piping.
Also, I finally found a tie here in New Zealand, it was expensive but looks good and on the plus side I can wear it to work when I want to. More pics when I go to my con in October- I can hardly wait!

09-26-2011, 01:59 PM
For the sillyness of it all, I totally did an Artie outfit...tho Im asian so yeah... :p

i totally need to steal a wheelchair for NYAF/CC

12-12-2011, 01:13 AM
Me in my Glee oufit, sorry I didnt really take proper pics of this:

and playing around with friends at the Expo, trying to make a music video!
This was really fun!
I see this season, the Warblers sang 'Uptown Girl' so I'll probably do another video of that next time I'm on.

Hey guys.
Just hopped in to tell you: Glee is awesome.
Really awesome!
I love it.
Next year we will cosplay a big Glee group.
We already have around 7 members in our Glee cabaret and it's still 9 months til the con we've planned to attend as a group :)
I'm so excited! Can't wait to get my costume.
Since I'm to old to suit the younger girls I'll do Sue Sylvester haha >D
I really really HOPE to find a Will until the con. otherwise I need to bother the poor gleekids haha (not that I won't do this anyways...>D )
And it would be great to find someone doing Mercedes..but Glee just swapped over to germany and it's pretty unknown here so far..at least in the cosplay scene... wish we could all fly over to america and join all the other awesome cosplayers.
Rabled enough now. gotta go train dat body ;)
Keep the good work up guys!
