View Full Version : Need Holster advice

I'm trying Alice's new outfit in Resident Evil Afterlife. I need her brown shoulder holster, belt and her brown crotch strap (for lack of a better description) holster. My biggest concern is the crotch strap one, I don't have a clue what that's called! Any direction for this would be really helpful. Thanks!

Those thigh strap things look very unique, a little reminiscent of like a climbing harness, just way simpler. If you know how, I recommend making that yourself, or having someone else make it. It doesn't look like something you could just find and buy.
The shoulder holster you could find, sort of. If you do an online search, you'll need to look explicitly for a vertical shoulder holster, because they're usually horizontal, with the slide of a gun under the armpit. Regardless, it will likely cost a fair amount. A good leather shoulder holster will generally sit around 100$, and they don't tend to have two holsters. Most by default have a right side holster and a double mag pouch on the left side. This mag pouch may be switched for a left side holster, but another holster will probably run 30-50$. I also recommend being very careful, as the holster portion is usually made for a specific type of gun, and won't easily fit anything else. Just a heads up I guess. I had to buy a horizontal shoulder holster for my Leon Kennedy outfit, it wasn't cheap, and the only gun I have that fits into it is the specific kind it's made for.

Funnn. I thought this would be a relatively simple cosplay I could finish in a few weeks. I could definitely try making the thigh strap, it would be challenging, but not extremely difficult. The other issue I have is that I can't find a single picture of her from the back, that's what makes this really hard. They don't even show her back in the trailers and obviously the movie won't be out until Sept, so I'm a little screwed for the show I'm attending. I'll look into making the holsters and use pictures of climbing harnesses to help. This is going to be an interesting one! Thanks a lot for your advice! Greatly appreciated. :toothy:

If you know your way around leather I'd suggest making it.
I made a version of this rig for someone for Dragon*Con. I had to make it all from scratch, as there really isn't anything that would be sold as a regular holster rig that is made like this. I had to draft out the patterns to fit an actual 6" revolver and then go from there. Even if you can find some shoulder holsters, the back will require getting leather and making something custom. The buckle is what is known as a Conway buckle. I made the rig custom fit to the costumer so that all of the proportions are correct. I have a thread on the RPF with pictures and some build progress.

If you have an army surplus store nearby you can go there or go to ebay. Ebay has great prices.
