I'm curious, what kind of fabric did you use for your character's uniform?

I know of one Italy who used poplin.

Sorry for the bump, but I would like to know this as well. I am planning on making a S. Italy cosplay the uniform version, so any ideas would be helpful.

Thanks

Going to try making the Lithuania uniform here in the recent future. What I bought was a cotton twill, although I haven't worked with the fabric yet. For a uniform, you want something that will be easy to move in but look crisp and be durable. Fashionfabricsclub.com usually has decent prices on stuff, and a big selection of all kinds of things. There are probably other places you can look online, too.

I used cotton twill for Finland's uniform.

When I made my daughter's N Italy uniform, I used linen (on sale for 75% off).

I used a strudy twill for my Austria coat.

I prefer heavy cottons like twill but it doesn't come in a lot of colors. You can usually get away with cheaper, thinner cotton so long as you line it. That's what I did with Poland. =X

I used broadcloth for my sailor Italy. BAD IDEA. Don't do it. I have to wear tights under my pants (so they don't see my underwear through it) and a white shirt under my top so they don't see my bra :X

Thanks so much everyone for your suggestions. I think I'm going to try and get cotton twill.

@ belligerent : Wow, I'm really liking the prices on that website. Thanks for sharing it. :)

@ Axelai : Oh dear! ^_^; Well, at least you figured out something so you could still wear it. I'm sort of worried about the same thing happening with the other costume I'm working on.

As you can see:

And... i had a picture of my underwear showing (i wore it to a gathering without noticing this problem once. OOPS) but i can't find it XD;; GOOD.

So yeah, just don't use broadcloth under ANY circumstances.
