I ask this because:
1. It's fun to know.
2. Not many people mention this for some reason.
3. I am working on two different workouts that will fit the needs of everyone here!

Rules of this thread:

- State your planned cosplays

- Post your pic of planned cosplay

- tell us what you do already to get in shape.

I'll get the ball rolling!

I plan to cosplay bass from the megaman games:

There are very little megaman cosplays and very very few are good ones. So I really want to give the series the justice of a good cosplay. Six out of seven days I hit the gym Doing both cardio, and weight lifting. I eat very well, because dieting in my opinion is half the game to building great physique. I also get plenty of sleep in order to give my body plenty of recovery. :bigtu:

I'm taking three day a week, two hours a day Aikido classes as well as walking everywhere possible. Playing DDR at home on the days I don't have Aikido, as well as stretching and practicing the things I can at home. I also only eat meals, no snacks or sweets, except on weekends. I want to get in shape because, well, it shows off a lot of your body T_T. and Fang is a sexy beast and I'm... not, lol. But I let myself get convinced into doing this cosplay anyway.
ETA: I'm also doing an alternate version of Celty because I could never pull off her black catsuit... but someone tried to talk me into it!

i have been doing sit ups, weights, running and walking as much as i can, eating better
i have been trying to eat better but its hard! I just keep telling myself, HALLOWEEN!!! look better...hehe...

I'm getting fit for two reasons.
1. Obviously because a lot of her shows..
2. I think it's about time I get fit instead of just playing video games all day XD


My plans?
I've totally cut out fast food. Haven't had fast food in months (since April I think..).
I try my hardest to eat three meals instead of snacks all the time.
Junk food and candy have been cut down in a minimum.
I became a vegetarian in the summer so a lot more veggies are in my diet now.
I've been trying to walk as much as possible.
I've been getting much more sleep lately - when I can.
I do sit ups every morning before showering.
This is going to sound lame: I've been playing wii more instead of my xbox 360. XD

It's been really hard to stick to some of those rules because of work and school but I think I've been doing pretty good so far (:

Well obviously, I'm not going to get THAT muscular, but here's what I do to get on the right track. In the gym 6/7 days, muscle isolation weight training, I run a few miles each day, boxing / martial arts everyday (dancing some days, to meet girls, you know?). I do pilates each day for my core, etc. I do eat extremely well, nothing junkie and lots of high protein vegetables and meats. I'm sleeping 7/8ths of the day, that helps tbh. And Starcraft II exercises my mind and finger muscles, right?

I've been going by a 12 week bulking workout routine that I found on BodyBuilding.com. Once it's done I'll keep changing it up to put more mass on. Along with the workout I've been taking protein shakes in between meals to get more protein and calories in my diet.

I'm about to start exercising, I'm cutting out junk food (I say more than 150 calories per serving counts.), I'm learning the Renai Circulation dance (DEAR GOD), and as always I'm a vegetarian.
I like what I have to work with, a full year before the con.

I love BRS, I'm a bit Vocaloid mad! Was very excited when I saw the PV but then the OVA just blew me away *w*
Although I need much much skinnier upper arms, they're terrible D: Could do with toning up my stomach a wee bit more but my arms are my biggest worries ;_;

I already do ballet and modern twice a week, very good for fitness. And I have to walk for at least 2hrs in total to get to college and back, so that's five days a week (up a horrendous hill everyday no less LOL). I did use to do extra dancing in my spare time for an hour each day to prepare for my exam, but now that that's over I don't do that anymore. But exercise wise I think I'm pretty good. At least for my lower half of the body oTL.

I really do need to do some arm exercises though, I don't do anything to them so my fat goes there LOL.

I'd say my diet is good, but I'd be lying : P
During holidays I'm fine. I cook my own food (or parents cook it, we alternate) and it's just rice rice and more rice, Asian meals lolol. But at college I'm terrible XD. On weekends and evenings I mainly eat rice, vegetables and meat though, and I eat a good amount of fruit and veg. So my diet isn't terrible, but it could be better during term time.

That being said, on holidays I don't do as much exercise. And during term time my diet isn't that great. So maybe it balances out loool : P

If you play on high levels it will. If you can't (like me...) play Soul Calibur (or Tekken or any other fighting game) with your dance pad! I can run through two Quick Plays in 15 minutes and it really gets my heart pumping. Plus it's ridiculous and fun.

I've done her at D*C 2010 and AWA 2010 so far, but now that I've finally got her belt-of-many-pouches more secured, I should be able to do more ACTION! poses. I hope to work up to the point of doing poses more gymnastic in nature, and really, truly embodying the craziness that is Deadpool. Jumping on people (if they consent) and all. Gotta be active and stay-in-shape for her!

They are both pretty exposed so I have alot of work ahead of me. @.@

Right now all I am doing is jogging 3 miles a day 5 times a week along with doing Jillian Michaels DVDs. I HATE lifting weights, I find it horribly boring but I know I'll have to start doing it more often. :sulk: As for eatting I've been a vegan long before I started exercising so it's not for health reasons. I am trying to not eat sweets so much and trying to get more protein.

Not entirely sure yet. I haven't been able to find enough info on any of the girls in particular to see the character's personality that I am the most drawn to... based on sheer cosmetics, I guess I would do a Blondie (even though I'm not exactly a fan of her actress, but alas), because I look the closest to her, but I'm not sure how I feel about the character yet. Need to see more of the movie first and figure it out!

I'm not really doing anything different. I'm already an active person and I'm in good shape so it's mostly maintaining. I did up my cardio and switch my diet up a bit. I cut out most added sugars ( 'cept for my coffee. Dunno how people drink it without a bit of sugar. bleh), refined carbs, excess sodium and most processed foods in general. I also only drink water, milk, coffee and unsweetened tea. So far so good, and the con's 8 months away. haha. Not gonna take any chances. Lycra thong leotards are not very forgiving! D=

I used to play DDR ALL the time. My mom and my brother used to tell me that they noticed the difference when I played. I didn't notice a weight change (but, I also wasn't dieting at the time either), but they did notice a difference in my actual appearance. Which is what counts I guess, right? I mean, it's fun, and it's cardio. So it can't hurt. xD

Both of which have a lot of leg. xD I've been slacking on the cardio as of late, which is what I think I need for those cosplays.

As far as diet, I kind of need to work on. I try to eat pretty well, but I lovelove pasta. And fries. And between work and school, there there isn't much time for a good home cooked meal. Thus it comes down to microwave food a lot of time. (Which is kinda how it's always been in my house.) I think I just need to figure out a way to MAKE time for home cooked stuff.

The benefit to working at a place like Panera is that if I ever think I'm not going to get decent food at home, I'll make sure to get something there and bring it home. Because I figure it's [generally] better for me.

But I'm trying to find some better dishes for me with pasta, maybe without a sauce loaded down with stuff I don't need. Or possibly healthier pasta itself. But fries. ...Sometimes I just have to have them, rofl. I just try to eat them less. xD

Haha, go for it. I know a few people who've done such a crossplay, and it actually came out really, really nicely, especially if there's a female Joker. Genderswitch fun!

Now, I'm working towards the physiques needed by all the cosplays I have in my signature. I think the Throg will be the thing that I need to work the most towards. I mean, look at the leg exposed! :o

the hardest part is forcing yourself to eat =P you'll have to be eating atleast 4,000-6,000 calories to start to bulk up that much =o

I'm aiming to do this but I do not have the body of a young girl, (just young woman). Since I'm a little on the thicker side, I still need to slim down for it, will do some binding of the chest as well. 5'4" 140lbs now, should get near-there (125 maybe?) by summer of next year for A-kon, that sounds reasonable, or false hope?

Currently I've been doing both running and weight lifting. Healthy eating is a must of course.

After some consideration (okay, mostly impulse... but I've been wanting to do this character for a long time!), I've decided to add this to my roster:

I'm going to tone up towards the modern, lean rendition of She-Hulk, because the bulkier She-Hulk is just TOO. MUCH. for me, will look really odd with my body proportions (and my height - I'm like, 5'2''), and will disrupt my other planned cosplays. Am I trying to kill myself? Potentially, yes.

And then there's the matter of the Mystery Costume, which I have yet to fully decide upon. She-Hulk is going to be the most challenging... the combination of such a trim waist with such defined arms is going to be a pain. Ling and Blondie are already in the bag, as that's pretty much my physique now. And Joystick will be done when She-Hulk is. Time to get hustlin'!

Regardless if your looking to bulk up much as possible look up Scott Herman on youtube, he's not that big but generally his routine and mine are almost identical. The guys at my gym are noticing my arms especially are getting huge after I started doing drop set / circuit training incorporated.

Minimal rest (no longer than 30 seconds) and keep dropping the weights to keep up with the number of reps.

Another thing I do is do super slows, which takes 3-5 second motion one direction and 3-5 seconds in reverse. So 3-5 second benchpress push, and 3-5 second drop, then once I get tired I use explosive power and rep out the rest fast as possible.

When I started working out I could do 135 lb bench less than year ago 5 times, now I'm upto x30+ without stopping and max bench upto 255 @ 165 body weight. (that also included a 6month break -damn vacation....)

Although the hardest thing is to do drop sets with dumbbells if your gym is busy >_<

But above all most important things to take is

1.Multi-Vitamins Life force multi's are good and cheap (MUCH better than GNC stuff)
2. Glucosamine + MSM for joint support cause your muscles grow but your joints need to strengthen as well.
3. Calcium and magnesium shouldn't be too much of a problem if your drinking milk or taking protein shakes as most popular one Whey and Casein are both rich in calcium.
4. Fish oil is not only good for the heart brain it's also good for your joints as well.
5. Drink TONS of water, I go through a 1.5 gallon a day (I go so much I started making use of bushes outside lol, feel bad about wasting water to flush XD)
6. Eat clean calories, I know a large pizza sounds nice but if you can't don't rely on stuff loaded with trans fats to get you through (processed foods)


Other things I recommend but not required is arginine for better pumps and circulation during a workout which also helps your body create more nitric oxide which is great cause it's also good for the libido and sexual sensitivity ;)

then Beta alanine personally I love the side effects which feels like static electricity running through my body which has proven to increase heart health by about 3% after 2 months of regular use.

Both you can get from a good pre-workout supplement. White Flood is probably the best, it gives you great focus and energy prior to entering the gym, it's like drinking 3 redbulls then hitting the gym. It'll also help you from getting lazy, cause once I drink it no matter how tired I am I'm out the door in 30minutes.

I've cosplayed as the butler next to him before, and that wasn't as bad because I was practically all covered up. However with Ciel, my legs are on show quite a bit.
The thing is, my weight goes up and down like a yo-yo. But not my "shape" - so I've decided to stop drinking soda and (too many) sweets (which will also help my skin) and start little, for example going running, pilates etc.

And the problem is my legs x.x; I've always had chicken legs, though right now they're not that chicken anymore, since I've been exercising and stuff *_*
What I do is, since I have a dance group, I practice the dances every day, and now on top of that, I'm going up the stairs on tiptoes (though I haven't done that much yet). I don't go to the gym because I don't really have time or money, and also, I hate the gym x.x; so I just exercise like that in my house and it has been working so far *_*

lol you know it's funny it's been discussed on the discovery channel the best feritilizer for tomatoes are human urine cause it's really rich in nitrogen. Although I wouldn't dare to eat it, I kinda wanna plant one in my yard and watch it grow =x

When you drink water a lot on a daily basis for a long period of time, your body expects that much water to be taken in, and use that as the normal amount. You shouldn't have that "pee all the time" feeling once your body really gets used to all that water. I think I drink about 150+ fl oz (1.17 gallons) of water a day and I never get that feeling anymore.

I'm on a crash diet and fierce exercise regiman in order to cosplay as Vegeta (Saiyan Saga).

So far I have lost 4 lbs and will be debuting as him at the end of October, October 29th to be exact. I eat no more than 1500 calories a day and work out *cardio* everyday for 20 minutes. Due to a medical condition of my ribs coming out of place, I must be careful so the upper body like lifting heavy weights and bench press is out for now.

Could anyone assit me with the right course of action such as building muscle mass and strength trainning while losing weight and inches of my waist and hips?

Currently don't have much time for exercise, so I'm just cutting back on junk foods. I get somewhat of a workout during the school day from running back and forth to my classes, stairs and all. Whenever I do have time on the weekends, Zumba DVDs are always fun. :D Oh! And DDR! I once lost three pounds in a week during the summer from doing the Standard to Challenge levels every day.

EAT more and dont kill yourself! :eek: You can loose weight and gain muscle. If anything since your really want muscle, You will want to eat more for the sake of growth! just don't eat too much! :)

I'm getting in shape to cosplay Rogue from X-Men : The Animated Series around March 2011. And Yoko Littner (Space Outfit) later in 2011 because I need to make sure my abs are in good shape for that, haha.

Up to 40 pounds lost since March/April. Would be more if I didn't quit going to the gym over June/July. I kicked it into full gear in August though. I'm really starting to notice a difference now with a bit of muscle definition, smaller waist and fat % lost. I had to go shopping for jeans that are 2 sizes smaller. Was a fantastic feeling! I'm so pumped to keep going!

I'm eating healthier foods (grilled chicken sandwiches vs. cheeseburgers, fruits for snack, etc.), taking fast-paced walks every day, playing tennis every weekend, and will be starting P90X again probably tomorrow. Trying to get from currently 191lbs to a more reasonable 160lbs. If I went by BMI, I'd have to be in between 115lbs and 155lbs to be in the "normal weight" range. 160lbs should be a good start, anything better would be a bonus. Target date is June 2011, which should be a reasonable amount of time if I can stay committed.

UGGGGGGGGGGGGGH this is gonna hurt.

As for what i'm doing:

In the gym every other day or next possible day work schedule permitting, alternating between upper and lowerbody with midsection.

Upper body is usually bunch, assorted dumbell exercises, low weight clean, that...crazy thisishowyouhitpeopleasalineman machine, assisted lift.
Lower body is squats, high weight cleans, assorted nautulus machines, assisted press, those...kneebendwhileyouholdthefreeweights exercise that I cannot remember the name of and that's really really bad because my dad use to make me do them for a quarter mile when I was playing football and it SUUUUUUUUUUCKED.

About 20 to 30 minutes of cardio after that to make sure that my muscles don't try to murder me in my sleep.

You know, after all this time, after playing sports for years and helping people with their workout, the best cardio workout I ever got was doing 10 footers on DDR, just...in a row, constantly banging them out. Oni runs were great for keeping your endurance up in the off season.

Do a lot of stretching and do front, side and back kicks. those will helpreally get your kick sup there. Good Luck.

Difficult question.. I'm training to become thin but more visible muscles. I'm already really low on fat so my muscles are already reasonably visible. I just want that 6pack well visible I guess ^^

But for which cosplay? I don't know. I'm doing it for myself, for my selfesteem and my own beliefs. But maybe if I got that 6pack real good I'd do Dante, but I'm not really sure. The character, other than being so incredibly popular, isn't my taste.

I'm constantly losing weight for cosplay when I want to dress as certain characters. I use to be over 200 pounds when I first started to cosplay, but I've gone down 30-50 pounds. I could still stand to shed some more weight especially for a certain cosplay I'm working really hard to make.

Currently cutting right now for Yazan Gable from Zeta Gundam. It's going quite well...and I'm seeing all the muscle I gained from bulking last year for Terry Bogard of KOF/Fatal Fury. He shows enough chest, and a fair amount of abs...so I'm confident I'll be good and ready by Anime North 2011.
The biggest thing is diet, but HIIT and lifting amidst a high protein/low carb intake is the main gist of it. Once all that is said and done, gonna have to wax/shave.

To get in shape... Hmmm... Where do i start?
I spend an amazing amount of my day on martial arts training (ninjitsu, judo, jujitsu, variations of TKD, and a few others.)
Which includes sparring, lots of it. (Which varies from sword fighting, to practical hand to hand, to take downs, to jujitsu ground game. Etc.)
I also like to mess with weapons, (Staff, Sword.)
I do parkour, which is good for cardio, and flips are AMAZING for abs. (I highly suggest everyone on this forum learn how to backflip, the strain it puts on your core is incredible.)
I have a friend of mine who is always training with me. Which is good, cause we come up with stupid fun training games.
EX: One time, I handcuffed him and started beating him with a struggle bat. If he didn't dodge, keep running, or kick back, he'd be ruthlessly beaten. It's a win win situation, cause if you get hit, it's a form of Iron Body, if you kick, you get new found body awareness plus your kicks get better, and if you don't get hit, or dodge, it's a form of reflex training.


We'll be willing to train with any heads in LA!
Sparring at little tokyo, and teaching what ever you guys would like to learn!

Well I'm going to be in LA at the end of the month from the 27th to the 1st. Flipping is something I've never gotten in to. I've wanted to learn but I've always figured that the risk for unfortunate injury was too high.

Got some gut and thigh to lose in order to feel comfortable with that cosplay :rolleyes: Let's see, I'm... eating healthy foods like salads, yogurt, health wrap here, baked potato there, mostly water and some Acai juice, and for exercise... so far done some walking :sulk: We've got a killer stepper machine that I plan on attacking when I build up enough from walking D= And my older brother left some weights when he moved out so.. plan on getting to those, too.

So glad I have 7-8 months. haha.

Trying to do chad some justice. Time frame is till may of next year. Trying to stack up 15lbs of muscle mass.
Implementing workouts with heavy weights and low reps. In between those days doing various cardio exercises. Sticking to a 3k to 3500 calorie diet. Also taking creatine and whey protein. Including a few supplements for size.

Been working on getting fit for my first cosplay venture. Im going as Charlie from Street Fighter in a Street Fighter group cosplay at Oni-con this year (in like two weeks, lol).

i'm 5'4" and 127lbs.

36-28-39 are my current measurements. my goal isn't too much a weight one but inches. i want nothing off my boobs because i wanna fill out the top since the girl has a large chest like me. 4" off the waist and 5" off my hips.

i'm currently working out my trouble areas and plan to start walking soon since i've only been gaining in muscle. gonna stop drinking soda and switch to water, juice, and tea. over all eating small meals frequently and cut back on the burgers XD

My tummy isn't used to being shown so I'm trying to tone the crap out of it so it'll effortlessly look good. Also my stubby short people legs need some thinning out so they'll appear a bit longer.
I've been working out five days a week on the step-climbing machines at school. And I make sure to keep away from the snack table in the cafeteria, grab fruit instead.
Hah. Honestly I don't know how I'm going to reach this goal, I've never really had to work out for anything.

I have a good BMI, but I need to tone up a little, especially for Jill. I'll likely be using spandex/lycra/nylon/etc. for her suit because it's for a con and I need a breathable fabric, or else I'll roast, and that type of fabric tends to cling so I need to tone up so I won't look like the Michelin Man.
My top half seems fine at the moment, it's just when you get to the navel that things go wrong (I maintain that I was made of spare parts). For Harley, I'm going to need to tone up my stomach, and my legs.
So far I'm just trying to watch what I eat but I hope to maybe join a gym after new year (I figured there's no point in starting to excercise at this time of year...Christmas dinner will reverse all my hard work >.<). I did a little Tae Bo last year and it was a good work out so I think I'm going to try to do that regularly.
I'm a little restricted by the exercise that I do because I have trouble with my wrist so I'm not sure how I will react to Tae Bo now lol.

Well, I wanted to lose weight so I could do a Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune cosplay, and this past Anime Boston, I finally got to be Sailor Neptune! Unfortunately, I hadn't lost all the weight I wanted to lose and I was nowhere near toned enough so the cosplay looked alright when it could have been fantastic. I'm doing Neptune again for Anime Boston 2011 and hopefully I can pull off fantastic by then.

For 2012 however...I need to be PERFECT if I want to pull off these guys...

Personally, this is like a "way in the future and probably won't happen" thing but I've always thought if I could work to the point of Cable from the X-Men then I would not only pull him off like a savage but I'd also be physically set to handle a lot of other cool characters.

I'm planning to do his zero outfit. Unfortunately I think I'm a little too chubby to do it accurately. So I'm trying to shed some pounds by lessening my calorie intake. I started at 150 lbs last week and am now 148 lbs. I know, not that much. I'm just slowly lessening my food intake so that my body can adjust to it. My goal is to reach about 120 lbs.

Body wise, I'm already set, but I could gain a few pound. I currently weigh 100> pounds and my arms are still too skinny for the zentai suit I'm using.

Currently, my main goal is to increase my flexibility. Sheik is pretty much a ninja and is known for doing high kicks and crazy skilled karate moves. I really want to be able to preform some for pictures C:

So, I've been looking online for hamstring stretches and I've been doing them almost everyday. I'm just hoping I can keep it up for the next 7 months. Eep.

~So, yeah i pretty much have my work cut out for me but I have a long time to get it done! What I do know in terms of working out or getting in shape is eating healthier, cutting down on sweets, drinking water all the time, and, most importantly, DANCING!!!!!!!!!!!! :D The first thing I do when I get up in the morning is practice dances I've learned for a good 25 minutes. I actually manged to lose a couple pounds so far by doing it too!

Mostly I need to flatten my stomach a bit and lose some ass and thigh. It's not really about losing weight for me so much as slimming down and toning up a bit. So I'm hoping using the workout mode on my DDR everyday will help out with that. I don't really know what all I should do for my stomach. Crunches? That's about the only stomach exercise I know. Oh, and I also need to cut down my fast food intake.

I should be doing this stuff already anyways since I'm diabetic >.<

Okay, Iíll bite, because the more I tell myself itís going to happen, it will. ^_^

While I want to get in shape for all my cosplays, my biggest inspiration (outside of feeling better about myself, of course), is Fran, from FFXII. I already cosplayed her once, and while Iím proud of my first cosplay ever, Iím not so proud of how I looked in it. While I canít change the fact that Iím short, and that my big thighs are genetic and will never disappear completely, I can change how I feel about myself and trim up while doing it. So, at the end of this semester, Iím starting the ďGeneric Protagonist WorkoutĒ. X) Iím dragging in my best friend to join me- not that he really needs it, the skinny bugger! I eat pretty healthy, and my current exercise is working horses (harder than it sounds, let me tell you), which targets weird muscles but not the ones I want toned.

Hah! Answer to my dilemma of Rock Shooter not wearing enough and there being no such thing as red prescription contact lense is:

I have to tone up and add some lean-ness. I've lost about 5 lbs, lost an inch everywhere but though I like my curves a lot right now, I still need to lose another inch all around. So, maybe another 5 lbs. Eh, maybe. Some people look really good at 105 lbs. I'm not one of them.

Well, I need to get my definition back for Oerba Yun Fang. I don't roller blade/bike as much any more, which really helped tone my legs back in my teens. Going to start doing those again. It also helped build up cardio, so I could start running no problem.

I'm currently working on a pair of wings to do a little twist on "The Prise" characters from "The Amory Wars". I'm hoping to have the actual costume finished by the end of January (might take a little longer depending on budget). The work of getting physically into shape is going to take much longer though. I mean, I don't look bad now. I'm just not comfortable going in public almost completely exposed. Even though the characters usually appears naked in comics, they are shown in physical clothing every now and then. I really want to wear the costume myself, but if that doesn't work out I guess I could always put it on a model. BTW, obviously I will not be going out in public completely naked...

Right now I'm interested in intermittent fasting, particularly the leangains method. I've found I enjoy strength training far more than cardio, but I lack some of the more necessary equipment. My diet is going through some changes right now and I'm working on eating enough. You'd never guess I have that problem with how much I weigh -.-'

i want to get in shape for two reasons:

1. So I can actually STAY in shape
2. I want my first cosplay to look as good as possible, coming from my part as well and not just the costume's appearance

I'm thinking of doing it one step at a time so i dont rush myself, im thinkning of walking either a mile and a half or walking for 30 minutes daily, and eating less and having cereals for dinner instead of something big every time. and once thats shown ive gotten at the very least a smidge slimmer, then ill try hitting the gym. sound good?

I'm not exactly losing weight or getting in shape for cosplay purposes. Cosplay is sort of like the chance I have to show it off because I usually wear jeans and t-shirts.

Once I reach 130 or so I'm doing Episode III Shion from Xenosaga. Although I expect this to take time, so I'm planning fitted costumes that are less revealing in the meantime. That will sort of be my "HEY GAIS, REMEMBER ME?" costume. :p I'm about halfway there now, although the holidays set me back just a little bit.

I need to get in shape in general, but my main reason is for the cosplay I'm doing of Vincent Valentine from Final Fantasy VII Dirge of Cerberus. The catch is its a female version with a "sexy" outfit. And let's just say I'm faaaar from anything remotely cute. I have a long way to go, and I don't have a clue how to get there. Which totally sucks. But I'm trying. I have until June 3 of 2011 to get there. Which is a fair amount of time to get into decent shape. But I'm scared I won't be able to look good enough, and this is one I definetly need to do justice to.

Main target areas: Stomach, thighs, and upper arms.

Plan: Cardio, cardio, more cardio, squats, lunges, and the like. I've completely cut out all soda and artificial juices as well as fried foods. My sister has started walking with me, we plan on walking 4-5 mornings a week, at 2-3 miles a session. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evening we do a half hour circuit of lunges, pushups, jump rope, and squats. Hand weights are an amazing investment, especially for walking.

My goal: Lose 4 dress sizes (I want to be a size 8-9) and firm up my arms. I just really want to be a lot healthier than I am right now. Over the past year I have let myself go due to stress, and I'm sick of not loving what I see in the mirror.

I'm getting in shape for Terra Branford from Final Fantasy VI. I really hope I can do it. I'm going to be drinking a lot more water, exercising at least 30 min. a day, and eating a somewhat healthy diet. If not healthy, then I'm going to cut the calories down if I end up snacking. God knows I have enough energy stored in my body to help me live for five months.

I'm on vacation from school so I'm just doing a variation of crunches, leg lifts, planks, and (attempts) at modified push ups. Once I get back to school I'll have to do i think 15 minutes of cardio, 3 sets of 30-45 crunches, 2-3 sets of 10 leg lifts, 2 planks for 30 seconds and 45 seconds,2 sets of mountain climbers for 20 seconds, 2 sets of 10 or 17 push ups (I do them modified), a game twice a week, and once it gets warmer we're gonna run the mile once a week.
For my diet I'm eating more veggies and fruit, going to avoid the snack bar and the hot lunch line (it's scary how much oil there is on the pizza O.o) and go straight for the sandwich line, make healthier meals for dinner, and eat breakfast

I'm getting in better shape to cosplay ansem, but mostly because i've always wanted to get in really good shape for the last 3 years but have never done it

what i do is pull ups everyday unless im sore like i am right now and ride the eliptical but i stopped riding the eliptical lately and i started p90x this week hopefully it works

Sorry if it is too large. Speaking of large, I need to tone up and slim down a lot before attempting to even wear one of Misa's less skimpy outfits. The only other problem is that my ears aren't pierced, so it seems I am going have to ... you know. Pierce 'em. (:waaaah:)

I was considering crossplaying as Grell or Undertaker from Black Butler, since so many people have chosen Sebastian.

Either way, slimming down is sort of inevitable.

It shows off a lot, so I have to be comfortable with how my stomach looks. Back to my quest for man-abs.

I've been working out A LOT. Every day, I do weights, crunches, dancing, hulahooping, and some more dancing. I do Wii Fit Plus about every other day. I use strength training exercises from it even when I'm not using it. Just Dance 2 is awesome. I often tune in to a music channel and try to dance along to the music videos (I almost have All The Single Ladies and Hips Don't Lie down!)

I really need the masculine appearance though. You have no idea how ridiculously girly I look in this and my hair is way way too short to look right as Sebastian. I can only hope it grows faster than normal by then and get it straightened and styled right before Sakuracon. Oh God...

Either way, I want to slim down so I look better in costume. xD Why? Well above all else, I want to tone up and lose weight for myself and for health reasons. Number two, who doesn't wanna look pretty? xD

What I already do - I've cut pop (soda.. to you non-Midwesterners xD) nearly completely out of my diet, though not completely, as I know that if I deprive myself of it I will just crave it so badly that I end up putting my goal to not drink it on the back burner. I'm drinking much more tea and water instead, and also am drinking less juice. I'm eating smaller portions of food, and am opting for healthier things to eat. I love fruit, but I need to get more vegetables that AREN'T corn, peas, or potatoes into my diet. For working out, I go to the gym on campus and run on the elliptical and do ab workouts, and also am doing workouts with free weights for my arms. I also am into fencing. <-- Way more challenging than you may think! xD So chyeah, let's see how in-shape I can get by the time April comes around, ne? :sunny:

Anddd I've already started my losing weight/going on a diet plan. I don't drink coke/sprite/soda, and I have already ditched the junk food (only snacks I eat now are walnuts, almonds and peanuts) AND I've started eating smaller portions and spread them out throughout the day. I have noticed that I'll get kind of hungry around the time I'm in bed but I just try to sleep it off. I hope this is healthy...xD And I started doing these 'stomach vacuum' exercises that is supposed to help shape a smaller waist. My tummy is moderately flat, but I still need to trim down and cut down on the extra flab. I've been hula-hooping and doing sit-ups (well...trying to...) too.
Does anyone know other good cardiovascular exercises to help trim down body fat? I want to make sure I can get as close as I can to her body type...xD Which seems nearly impossible since she has the perfect figure, but I'm trying.

Dancing is a good one, particularly bellydance. Some exercise channels have lessons or you might be able to rent DVDs or get them on demand. I took classes with my local public school district's night classes. It works the arms, stomach, and legs and I think would be perfect for Tifa.
Good luck! Tifa's definitely a difficult one to match her body type.

The two costume ideas that I'm tossing around right now are Cheetara from Thundercats. And Amanda from Blassreiter. Cheetara would be great because I'm gonna start lifting weights again at the end of the month and she would be good motivation. On the other hand I think Amanda's outfit would be more fun to make.

You could try putting a shirt or two on under your costume to thicken out your torso a bit. Or get your costume taken in around the waist to emphasize the "V" shape.

I will be doing sailor saturn and miku for A-kon 22 and even though most of my friends tell me I'm skinny I'm hoping to tone up my tummy and thighs. I have 5 months man. Since I'm not too much of an exercise nut I'm hoping to tone up slowly by doing crunches [adding more each day], arm circles, leg exercises, caramelldansen, and love & joy.
