I heard about the Are you Alice group and have started reading the manga. I'm considering doing the Queen of Hearts.

That would be awesome! I'll put you done as a possible then, if that's cool?

Yep! Know if they have official colors for the outfits yet? Or is what's on the website you posted all we got?

I'll also probably wear Asuna from Negima as well at some point as it's super easy to walk around in and from what I can tell, it's cool to walk around in costume, just not stop for pictures unless in the designated cosplay area.

shortsheik

So far as I know, those colors and designs (from the site) are the official ones.

And yeah, at Comiket you can wander around the inside in costume, though you can't take pictures outside of the designated cosplay areas.

知り合いのサークルを巡り、企業スペースに入ってる知り合いに挨拶してから
となコスへ友人数名と参加してます。(おいらはカメラ担当ね)
その後はアキバのメイド喫茶か、宿泊先で撮影を楽しみます

Hello all! I'm new to the forum and Tokyo. I'll be going to the Winter Comiket also. I posted in 'Looking for Cosplayers' trying to find people. I am doing Kurogane and maybe Fai (If I finish it on time) from Tsubasa. I think I might join you all in doing 'Are You Alice' doing the Hatter. I will have to see about pull it together really fast. It looks like an easy enough one. What days are you planing on doing what?

I don't think we've decided yet.

One of us will probably pick up a catalog and see which days are being allotted for which series. If we can line up at least one, we can space the others around that.

A lot depends on when Celestial's husband is available to join us, too ^^

Yup Eisuke is joining we are just trying to figure out what character he will be, he kind of wants to go as Chesire, which is cool by me. He can use my costume (I`ve already got everything accept the ears, need to make those and a tail) if that is the case I am thinking of going as alice with the white suit =) I know mason was wanting to join also but I need to ask him what costume he is doing.

@shortshiek, i will see what I can do. I can go as sebastian if all else fails...hmm I am wondering if I buy a cat stuffed animal and sew it onto my jacket do you think they would allow that and not consider it a prop? (just trying to brainstorm ways to make the costume more interesting since I know there are going to be other sebby`s there)

Ok, after reviewing my closet of stuff. I have almost everything for The Hatter already minus the hat and neck scarf thingy. Totaly will have both well before Comiket.

re alice: Wow. The group's getting biggish! All the better to huddle together for warmth!

re Mason: "The key" would be warm and easy to throw together... it's essentially just a black cloak with an oddly-shaped hood. The dormouse is also warm and we could take advantage of real manstubble.

re plushie: it's totally cool. We met multiple red-riding hood mikus with their wolf plush sewn into their hoods (and some not). I think that very small, soft props are allowed anyway.

Group list updated!

CelestialShadow, I put you down for Alice and K for the Cat for now, but but it's cool if that changes. And yeah, I'm pretty sure a small cat plushie wouldn't be a big deal at all.

CelestialShadow
11-28-2010, 04:22 AM
hmmm then I wonder if I could get away with two or 3 small kitties sewn onto me. For Sebby I was thinking, putting a couple of cats on each shoulder and maybe making some black and white ears to put in my head =D

You could do Syaoran from Tsubasa. Would lend you my Fai (if I could get the shirt done) but it might be a little tall for you since im about 71 inches. Isn't there a few other characters from 'Are you Alice' still open.

If not, you can do Hatter since I really don't know anyone here and would be the 'new guy' jumping into somones group.

I have a gorgeous pair of black freestanding ears if you just want to borrow them... or want me to put them on myself for some photos :P

As for the character sorting:

Cheshire and the Hatter are the tallest characters. The taller fellow (or the one with the biggest shoes) probably ought to prevail. Especially if Eisuke is going to be our kitty.

If Rebecca does Alice with inserts or heels, we'd all be about the right height.

There are always the Tweedles ~ not on the main page, but if you watch the intro sequence here (http://imlabel.jp/alice/) you can see them. Forest green or dark grey cardigans, matching pants and armbands over white dusters/trenchcoats and matching white newsboy caps. More (http://ec2.images-amazon.com/images/I/41Sy8wzkLyL._SS500_.jpg). Could possibly be altered/faked from something like this (http://www.tolayers.com/item.php?key=9dcad4b31eaf12aaf32bc6576bfa7680). DOLLS costumes are a dime a dozen on the used market and for a decent price. The cut isn't perfect, but with a white cloth belt, a new hat or a white recovering on the brim of the hat, the right cardigan/pants and a new armband -- it might just work.

RookBartly
11-28-2010, 05:37 AM
Well, there are Nine main characters. And I only know a few people doing via whats been posted here. So if I get this right, March Hare, Knave of Hearts, and Dormouse still open. With you being as small as you are (Masonkun) March Hare would prob fit you. With only a month left, it would be a rush on getting it done but it seems to be a very straight forward outfit. If we work together we sould be able to pull it together pretty quickly.

I can offer what ever help I can be. As far as skills, I am far better at effects makeup then anything. I can make chainmail, basic leather working (still learning), and some metal working. I can make costume jewelery pretty well also. Sorry I am not very good at sewing (which is why I don't know if my Fai cosplay will be ready) I can also do lighting / wiring stuff.

March Hare:
White Rabbit: Kira
Marianne: Sheik
Cheshire Cat: Eisuke
Alice?: CelestialShadow (Rebecca???)
Mad Hatter: Me (RookBartly)
Queen Of Hearts: Mixaka
Knave of Hearts:
Dormouse:

Mason> If you're sure you can get it done, you're welcome to claim the character but we've got our hands full with our own costumes and none of us want to end up looking unfinished. Might want to hold off on claiming a character until you're sure you'll have a costume in time or choose one that can be purchased or put together with closet items (the dormouse, tweedle dee, tweedle dum, humpty dumpty).

It's really late in the game to be starting or to commission two costumes for less than a month away.

I made a seperate thread for this but I will put it here too, good place for photos of all the are you alice characters:
http://sgcafe.com/cosplay-grouping/75341-you-alice-need-chars-photog-skw-eoy11-soy12-ps.html

Kick ass, everything is coming together!

BTW I will be wearing white go go boots with my alice costume(my pant will hide them pretty good i think) so I am going to be about 5 ft.8 in those. If anyone remember ayako (the celes cosplayer from TGS with her cute little boy as the dragon quest knight) she will be at comiket as well, she can do great kuroshitsuji cosplay so I will ask her to join us, and also i will be cosplaying with her for one day as white version Meatel (galaxy express 999) she will be going as black meatel. Such lovely warm coats we get to wear =D

I found a white suit set on ebay for 60$ so im going to buy it, just need a wig now.

IF ANYONE NEEDS A HAT FOR THEIR COSPLAY I CAN MAKE IT FOR YOU FOR A NOMINAL FEE, I need the pocket money to get through till payday...sigh....still so far away.......

I just dont have time to do a full blown costume but I can do some small items, hats, ears, tails, whatever. I can make cosplayer cards too if you need! You can choose between semi gloss thick photo paper, gloss thin photo paper, or cardstock. Just send me a photo of you i costume and any cosplayer info (email, name, yadda yadda) and I can make a nice set for you. Depending on how many people need these I can make about 45 per person, I suggest going to kinkos copy for more if you needs more than that because my printer will probably bite the dust. Price for the cards: Donation, you decide how much you think they are worth.

Masonkun
11-28-2010, 07:12 AM
can anyone look around for a green and white striped long sleeve shirt for my march hare costume, i cant find one anywhere. I checked ebay, amazon, gap, old nazy, and even american apperal. I have found shirts that look kinda like it but have buttons or are maternity shirts.....

Masonkun
11-28-2010, 07:27 AM
if i cant find that shirt i should be able to tweek the colors a bit and use a darker green and black stripe shirt if that would be fine with everyone???

RookBartly
11-28-2010, 07:41 AM
I found this. It is sleeveless but if you ordered two and used the seconed one to make the sleeves... If you have access to a sewing machine that is.
There are also a selection of other green and white striped shirts. Hope this helps.

Guys, I should be able to do the Queen of Hearts. I wasn't sure if this was gonna happen so I put it off, but managed to find someone to make it for me short notice cause there is no way I could tackle it myself. So count me in assuming there are no mishaps with the commission!

Look for a little help on the boots though. Any good recommendations on where to find a similar pair? I have a wicked hard time finding boots in my size here in Japan as I wear a size 25.5 and don't have stick thin calves. Also, wig recs are more than welcome.

Awesome ^______^

We had a great time with you at TGS, mixaka. Would be great fun to have you in a group.

Most brands are very limited in their dark silvers... so you can either opt for the closer dark greys from assist or classe or get a lighter base and dye it.

Another option -- I have this http://charastars.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=132 already.

If you think it would work for the character, you're welcome to borrow it or buy it off me for a discount (if you want to keep it). It's brand new and still in the box. I got a JAIL for Ciel instead ^^;

Yay Mixaka, I am so happy you are joining too! For wigs, I recommend this ebay seller, not sure if you buy off ebay but I get all of my wigs from her and I have had no problems plus they are way cheaper than anything sold here in Japan.

http://stores.ebay.com/Wig-Fashion

Im having the same problem with boots too...I wear a 25 but I need white ones that dont have pointy toes...its a challange so I am importing mine from the USA, still cheaper than buying anything from any of the cos stores here in japan sadly enough.....

oh yeah oh yeah..um what day are we doing are you alice? K-chan needs to take that day off to cosplay with us.

Thanks for the recs guys! Think I'm all set on a wig now. I'm glad I asked cause I didn't quite realize the color was gray and not black. I have trouble seeing the difference sometimes. The boots are a bit of an issue cause the toe bit is real funky and freakishly long looking. I might just have to go with a 'close enough' look and cover the tip. Or maybe I could work out some kind of foam cover for the end of the shoe to extend it. I probably won't have as distinct of a heel either, but I think I'm already too tall for the character even without the heel. Also, do they change colors about mid-calf or is that just a shadow from the skirt?

Also, CelestialShadow, I'd be interested in getting a few of those cosplay cards from you! It'd be nice to easily pass out my email instead of writing it out all the time.

Wow, you take a few hours to finish up an Alice in Wonderland pillow and look what happens! All is updated, with Mason put down as a possible Dormouse or Tweedle. Mason, I think the Dormouse might be easiest to whip up, and if you grab a pair of shoe inserts, that should help you with height too.

Marianne status: Samples received; they look great Shadow! <3 I have all the other pieces in hand, but I haven't done any actual wig work yet. Have extentions to add body to it, but need to put in the braid and figure out that horrible ahoge. I despair at the length of it in the wind though! I'm also afraid you'll all be much warmer than me. I hope Alois' coat is warm!

Speaking of, Shadow, do you think ayako would be willing to join us as Claude for Kuroshitsuji? (Also, will email you about cards. <3)

Mixaka, yeah, think it's just shadow from the dress. On top of the ones Kira suggested, BodyLine of all places might have some. We've found that you can buy shoes from them pretty cheaply and then rip them up until they suit.

Rook - great to have ya! *coughs* So, ah, lighting you say...? *halo*

We should probably also get looking for a photographer or two ^^;;; Or we'll all look cool and have no pictures of us all together :P

And shiek> For our Juvenile costumes we should make ONE card with both our info on it using this picture ~ http://www.cosplay.com/photo/2748522/

Then we only need to carry one set of cards on that day and not too many, since they aren't flashy costumes or something likely to attract much attention.

The other costumes we should probably try to get some pics of beforehand and put THOSE on the cards if at all humanly possible.

I can't tell if the Mad Hatter has black or dark brown hair.

CelestialShadow
11-28-2010, 08:23 PM
@Rook, here in Japan its expected that if you cosplay you will have a set of cosplay*business* cards that has a photo of you and some cosplayer information and contact information to pass out to other cosplayers you meet at events. We dont do it in the states but we should, its a good way to keep in contact with cool people you meet and gives you a little souvenier from them too. I have a photobook FILLED with cosplayer cards from people I have met throughout the year, the cards are always high quality color photos.

I can make cards for anyone who needs them on a donation basis (just to cover the ink cost), as I stated before in my last post. If you want me to make them for you, please send me:

a photo of yourself in costume (a good high quality one please)
The name of the character in the photo and what series they are from
your cosplayer name
email address
what website we can find you on (cosplay.com, curecos.jp, cosmode.net, ect.)
any design elements you want on your card (sparkles, specific letter coloring, borders, ect)
send it to elegantrebecca26@gmail.com
I can make a set of 45 per person, if you need more there is kinkos copies nearby =P
you can either donate money to me at the event after I give you the cards or send me concealed cash in envelope (for those of us in Japan) , which ever is good for you, If you want them earlier I can mail them to you so you can make more in your free time (if you feel that you wont have enough)

I have just about every photo editing software under the sun so I can do anything you need me to. As for the photography issue....yeah since we are all going to be in cosplay this could get interesting I can take good photos of everyone individually but if we want a group photo we are going to need some help, most likely though one of k-chans friends will be there so they probably wont mind to help us....AND on sunday if everyone has a moment there is a very high level FF cosplayer named Naoki (he organized the ff gathering I went to) who will be selling photo books of that event and more at his booth in comiket, please feel free to come with me to say hello to him. He is a personal friend of myself and K-chan and I am sure he would love to meet more gaijin ff cosplayers =)

@sheik, I`ve passed the invitation along to Ayako, waiting for a reply.

I`ve got my boots, jacket and wig on order, bidding for the slacks now. This has got to be the most hassel free costume I have every done lol.

just wondering....would we get totally kicked out of an izakaya....i know I didnt spell that right...if we drank in costume?????? If not we can party at my home but I had a thought that it would be pretty damn funny to get photos of us all in costume drinking =P

Thats kind of cool. I like the idea. I might want to get some from you also. I don't have any good quality pics of me in cosplay. Once I can try to take a pic for you for it but I will see about getting a good high quality pic. I don't have a great camera. Its just a point and shoot I got from Radio Shack a while back.
Wow, so much more to Cosplaying in Japan then in the states. By 'Cosplayer Name' you mean Real Name or nickname/user name kinda thing?

I'll shoot off an email to you with all the necessary info once I get off work CelestialShadow! As for drinking, I don't think any of the costumes are weird enough to get us kicked out from anywhere. People might have to take off any ears until we are inside, but I don't see anything else that would pose a huge problem. I am very much hoping to show up to this in costume and tossing on the wig and hat in a random hallway as to not have to brave the dressing room lines.

If you think it would work for the character, you're welcome to borrow it or buy it off me for a discount (if you want to keep it). It's brand new and still in the box. I got a JAIL for Ciel instead ^^;

You added options since I last checked! I feel that a lot of the gray wigs are a bit too light, but I'm not sure how well I'd be able to handle dying one darker. I've never dyed a wig before and don't know if I'll have time to learn before the big day (all of my weekends up until after new years are booked solid). I like the darker Assist but it would need way more styling than a lot of the other ones that I'm not sure I can do. I always have the most trouble with the shorter, guy styles. Do you think I could get away with using the wig you already have and not dying it? If not I think I'm leaning towards Classe's Short Straight, though I wish the preview pics where in the actual color of the wig cause I'm still worried about it being too light....

Also, can't help on the photographer front. My friend who tagged along for TGS will be out of the country. I can offer up my DSLR to anyone who may want to take pics, but that's about it.

P.S where are you all crashing? Would totally be up for splitting a hotel room of some type if there is interest!

I'm cheating. I live about two hours away via train. I'm with you on the wearing the cos there. Mine is just a black suit for the most part. Just need a bag for the hat/wig/and scarf-tie thing-a-ma-bob. My Kurogane outfit is a whole other thing being armor and all. I am looking for a wig for the Hatter right now. But I am not sure if his hair is black or dark brown still. (my computer screen is kinda poor)

my plan for the are you alice cosplay day, we all go together in the morning, who ever needs to get in line for the dressing room go ahead and do so, myself, k, rook (maybe?) Mason and whoever else is wearing normal looking clothing, go to the cosplay area and stake out a spot! Anyone have a preference on where they want to stand? When I was there last time under infront of the bridge, or infront of the lake/fountain seemed like a good area. Any other suggestions?

hey does anyone know what happened to Dan or Jasoroque? Will they be coming at all???? or did they have to go back to their home countries????

shortsheik

Rook -- My vote on the Hatter wig is a almost-black brown. (And I was joking about the halo. ^_~ Though, we may be looking to do fancy Vocaloid related lights in the future.)

Kira -- cool with the Juvenile thing. Is that the best shot we got of that pose? As for pictures in our other costumes, Alois should be arriving today I think, or soon at least. Would still need the wig though.

Mixaka -- Shadow is graciously putting myself and Kira up. Also, I think Kira's wig will work, but of course she'd know better than me. It's a pretty dark grey with some hints of blue in it.

Mason -- Try looking in Uniqlo and other generic men's fashion places. The jacket looks pretty typical of those sorts of stores, and I bet you could find the other pieces there too.

Shadow -- I will definitly have to change at the con. I seriously doubt my foofy dress will pass inspection (though maybe I could pass it off as Lolita elsewhere?). I'm also going to have the most luggage I suspect, considering the wig and the panier as well. >_< For best pictures, I would recommend by the lake/fountain, but we also might want to consider things like windblocks. T_T Cold, cold winter....

Oh, and Dan went home. Not sure on Jasoroque.

I actually really reccommend the changing room.

No, I'm not insane.

Hear me out.

Reasoning:

1) It isn't really all that bad: We used the bathroom and changed in the space of an hour last Comiket. The line for the ladies room took twice as long as the line for the changing room. Not kidding. I know, because I stood in it to hold a spot while Jaseroque and sheik were in the bathroom and had to get out TWICE because I got so far into it that I worried I'd end up insider without them. The changing room is well-managed, you get twice as much space as TFT, and it's a decent well-lit place to put on your makeup, contact and wigs without fear of discovery or accidents.

According to Dan, the men's changing room didn't really have a line at all. You got in, you got out.

2) Getting to the 1st Cosplay Area is actually a bit harder if you don't change: The changing area empties into a nice empty hallway that leads straight to the cosplay area and isn't crowded with regular guests, it also passes in front of a huge window that reflects like a full-body mirror. It was a great last-check spot. The alternate route can be pretty hairy and involves a huge press of people.

3) The atmosphere in the changing room is actually better than the atmosphere outside: There are only cosplayers in the changing room and they aren't being bothered by photographers. It's a great place to check out all the costumes you won't get to see outside thanks to the obnoxious crowd... and it's a nice chance to network with those sharing your square. I think I saw more actual cosplay in the changing room after the event. I like changing rooms. They're where you see all the real magic happen.

4) The Sticker System: The pamphlet + sticker deal isn't always enforced, but out of 6 of us who cosplayed at the last Comiket, two of us were asked to show our booklets. Had those cosplayers not had their booklets, they would have been thrown out of the cosplay area and not allowed back in :( Any staff member can ask to see your booklet at any time and they're SUPPOSED to check them when you first enter the area, though crowd congestion kills their ability to really DO that. We don't know when we'll be asked to show them... if some of us don't have them, there goes the group T.T

In the end, it's up to you if you want to take the extra hour and pay the 500 yen. But really, not doing it is a lot like sneaking into a movie. It's against the rules, it doesn't endear you to paying guests and if they catch you doing it, they can toss you out.

As someone who has snuck into my share of movies before, I'm in no position to say "don't do it!"

But if you do, be sneaky! And if you don't get that sticker, be on your BEST behavior and make sure your props and costume pieces are all beyond reproach ^^ Rule breeches get written up. Getting written up means showing your book. If you don't have one -- you're screwed.

Both of the guys who got asked to show their books last year were among the first into the cosplay area and had very small props that turned out to be against the rules for kind of strange reasons. It seems the area is more enforced early in the day. So if the intent is to avoid the changing room to get a spot -- it might be a better idea to send a photographer or the boys (no line) to hold it.

Masonkun

ill do what ever is decided changing room or not, i might just wear the clothes there since they look so normal and put the wig and makeup on in the changing room.

kiratsukai
11-29-2010, 05:32 AM
Well sheik and I have no choice ^^;;; It's pretty obvious that virtually every part of our costumes are... costumes :P

The rabbit kid and Alice in Wonderland will be using the changing room.

mixaka> I think you can get away with the Ciel wig, though it may be a little short in the back, especially if you have a big head :P It's a good match for the cut in the shot on the website, but for some reason, my own image of the Queen has him with slightly longer hair. It's your call, really. It fits like the photos on charastars site and has a good shape, but if you need more specific shots to judge, I can take some.

It's also got some blue in it which won't be a factor unless we're in direct sunlight (in which case, the bridge might be a good place so we're not getting blasted with full-sun). I really dug the spot just next to the bridge with the trees and grassy spot in the background (the Hetalia soccer group, the FMA guys and the schoolboy Len and KAITO had it the day we were all there), it had good light but was still sheltered from the wind on two sides. Given the choice between water and trees for Alice ~ I'd take trees :)

End tangent.

If you aren't sure about the wig, you can borrow it for the event and if you like it, buy it off of me afterward. I paid 4,200 for it plus about a sen in bank fees, shipping and handling. I can give it to you for 3,500 and your firstborn child.

Ah, I should clarify myself here. I don't mean showing up in costume to circumvent paying the fee to cosplay. I am more than happy to pay the fee. Mostly I would prefer to avoid the line, but then again, if I'm waiting with all of you it won't be as bad as when I have to wait in line by myself. I assume we will all head over together? I really, really hate lines which probably explains why I normally avoid Comiket. I guess it would be weird to ask for a booklet if you aren't in the dressing room line....cause that right there would be write-up number one, no arriving in costume!

I just recently got pocket wifi so if any of you have any portable devices (think itouch or DS) we can play with the internet during the wait. I can connect up to 5 devices at any given time. I am addicted to the internet and must be able to check my email at all times. There is no reason why my addiction shouldn't benefit others!

I think I will need to pass on your wig kiratsukai. The fact it has blue kinda scares me as I want to keep the costume in gray-tone like the picture. That and it seems to light in the pictures. I am strongly leaning toward the Short Straight Classe in either GY02 or the even darker GY01. It's annoying to have to judge the color by that little circle though. Anyone know if they have a physical store in the Tokyo area? You are right that the Queen tends to have longer hair in other images, but I am going to stick with that photo on the main site to make things easier for me.

First born child is all yours if you still want it though!

I might need some extra support after Comiket as my hair is falling out and gets much worse after extended wig wear. Today, after a particularly brutal shower-shed, I had to come to terms with the fact that Comiket will likely be the last of my real hair in the front... after that I will need to wear a headscarf or wig.

There might me some crying and flipping out when my little front tuft gives up the ghost, but I'll live.

I like wigs. I just need to learn to like them even more.

Oh, and I am not allowed to have coffee. If I touch it, talk about it or drink it -- please slap me. It's my coping mechanism and it isn't helping at all.

Shadow, personally I would love to have a Claude or even a Hannah to flesh us out (Claude is Alois' butler and Hannah is his maid (http://download.minitokyo.net/Kuroshitsuji.457387.jpg)), but it's entirely up to ayako. I'm sure she'd be adorable as Ciel in that dress, and as Kira said, she doesn't mind having a character double.

Rook, Mitubado (http://www.mitubado.com/)has a store in Tokyo and they also do payment on delivery, but they're used so the selection is small. Most Japanese wig sites (Classe and JAIL for example) offer payment on delivery, which wins them my eternal love. Ikebukoro has some costume shops as does Akihabara but I don't know how much they offer in wigs. Online is probably a better shot.

Gonna have to say the revolver is probably a no-go however.

I'm having wig issues myself with Alois. While this one (http://vellsus.jp/?pid=22483923) is a perfect color match, it's too pale for my skintone so I'm angsting between this (http://vellsus.jp/?pid=22483824) and this (http://airily.jp/shopdetail/007001000001/008/004/brandname/).

...I love Hannah's costume. Sorry, I know that's random, but I do. :P

Alright, well how about tentatively scheduling the Alice group for the 30th? That means if something horrible happens, like rain, we still have the 31st to recoup what we can of our losses.

I'm going to put an order in with otamap for shiek's wig soon if anyone needs anything and can wait until Tokyo times to get their hands on it. Orders of over 8,000 get free shipping.

Rook> Because you will have a hat, you don't need to get a super-nice wig. Zephyr's "waffle straight (http://www.otamap.net/SHOP/zep409sblk.html)" in black or dark brown will probably work just fine (3,000 yen). If you want something even cheaper, Bodyline wigs don't stand the test of time, but they're fine for a few wears: this style (http://item.rakuten.co.jp/bodyline/wig028/) or this (http://item.rakuten.co.jp/bodyline/wig016/) might work for you as a super-cheap base. Just be aware that Bodyline wigs will NOT hold a curl and cut/style kind of oddly (the fibers are cheap and stretch almost like nylon)

sheik> It's a little late for anyone to go out of their way to buy or make a brand new costume just to join a group. If they join now it's going to be something they already have or can pull out of their closet. I'm pretty sure ayako doesn't have those costumes hanging in hers :/

I also got your boots, drawers and panier today. The boots are really kind of cute and they smell awesome ^^ Do you want me to try and cut the scallopping and ribbons off the boots now? Or you do need to see them first?

To all > no weapons, glass or props over 30 cm in length. Real or not, dangerous or not :/ Comiket is super strict. If you haven't read the rules attatched to the main comiket thread, go have a look (http://www.cosplay.com/showthread.php?t=218870):)

If you guys want the props to shoot some photos at Tonari no Ketto or Rebecca's, I have a black revolver for the Hatter and I was thinking it might be cute if everyone made an illustration of their character in dilapidated crayon-style so I can collect you all from the trash bin :) I'm not going to bother with the sword, it's just too much to carry...

I'll keep an eye out for black nailpolish this week.

Rook, I think the Zephyr that Kira suggested looks great. It has the sorta of straggely hair look the Hatter has going on. Zephyr's are usually thin on the top, but the hat would cover that. Of course, it's your choice!

In answer to your other question, yes, make-up helps but I already apply make-up to cover the red when wearing blond wigs. There's only so much it can do short of packing it on, which causes it to look horrid later in the day. I think the honey gold is the best bet; I'm just fretting because I remember trying on Kira's wig in the same color and it NOT suiting me. But then again, I wasn't wearing make-up and it might have been the cut as well. *shrugs* Blond wigs are tricky!

Kira -- Yes, I know. *points up* That's what I meant by it's entirely up to her. She's welcome in whatever.

KILL THE BOWS! KILL, KILL!!!!

Shadow, I have black nail polish! I'm putting it in with my Rin costume now so I'll be sure not to forget it. (Any ideas for tattooing my tongue? ^_~ J/K!)

Shadow> We have Yorustar in Osaka on the 25th and I've taken the 27-28th off.

It'll be cheapest for us to pop out of Yorustar at 6am on the 26th, grab a net cafe and sleep for about 6 hours, takubin our Yorustar costumes home then grab a shinkansen straight to Tokyo. We were thinking of sending some of our costumes for Comiket to you via courier beforehand so we don't need to rent an entire bank of wall-lockers during Yorustar.

But that puts us at your place from 26th to the 2nd or 3rd. Not sure if we would be welcome for such a long stretch.

The other option would be to head home once then get the shinkansen from Kagawa on the 27th. But this one costs us about a man more.

If anyone else is coming from down south, you're welcome to join us on the shinkansen... or at Yorustar, for that matter.

Re wigs> I can help people with them but I'm not going to do them for you ^^; If you have a friend or local salon who can help you do the cutting part beforehand, even if it's conservative, it'll help (and I'm still not super-awesome at that part myself). I can trim bangs, make spikes/curls, and do wax-blocking but curls and spikes in non-resistant wigs should set overnight and a lot of styling products are banned at events (scissors, aerosol sprays). If you need anything done, show up early the night before and I'm willing to show you how.

If it's alright, I'd like to do Rook's ahead of time and show up with it more or less finished. Can I get a head measurement for that (around the head at the temples and from the center of the top of your head to the end of your natural hairline on your neck in CM)?

It really isn't all that practical to meet at Comiket itself. The number of people overwhelms cellphone and wifi networks during the first few hours of the event. It would be easier to meet at Ariake station at 7 like last year or even at a random city coffee shop at 6.

seriously? we are going to get there THAT early???????????????????

If we want to cosplay on the 2nd day (the busiest, assuming it's Tohou day again) and all meet beforehand and wait in line together, we might have to.

Last year we met at the station at 7:30 and lined up by 8. It took that long to collect everyone and then another 10 minutes to reach our spot in the line. The line was far longer on day 2 and in spite of lining up 30 minutes earlier than day 1, we ended up about 2,000 people back in the line from where we had been before. We got in on the 3rd wave (at about 11:20). By then the hall was already packed to the gills and by the time we got to the cosplay area around 12:30 every spot was taken. We had staff stop photographs multiple times because we were blocking traffic... our only recourse was to steal half of the military guys' spot (which Dan and Rob had been in to begin with). We'd never be able to fit 7 people in there though :/

Day 1 and 3 weren't nearly as ridiculous. But the chances we'll be contending with the Tohou dork crowd is pretty damn high. That's kind of why I want to get our hands on a catalog and see what the deal is asap. If we can avoid Tohou, we probably should.

Either way, though, Comiket's lines eat a good 1/3rd of your time at the event. The later you arrive, that much less time you have inside.

We should try to get in 2nd wave if we humanly can. 8 is early enough on a non-Tohou day. On Touhou Day, we'll probably have to be in the line by 7:30 to get in by 11.

In any case, shiek and I will probably line up as early as we can in hopes of getting the best possible spot and the luxury of taking an actual lunch break (we didn't get a chance to eat anything last year).

Doesn't really matter to me if people want to show up later, but it might be difficult to find everyone in the halls/cosplay area and I'm not sure 2 or 3 people will be able to monopolize a space large enough for 7 :/ Maybe if everyone checks their luggage upstairs we can kind of forcefully expand after the fact ^^;;; Maybe with people arriving and hopping into the group in waves?

Opens at 10 right?

heh heh heh... I can tell at least one of us is going to be surprised by the clusterfuck that is Comiket :D

Sadly, Rook, if you want to get in anywhere near 10, you need to line up with the real maniacs right off of the first handful of trains in the morning. For most of the rest of the line, it'll be 11 or 12 before we see our first doujinshi... or more accurately, our first line to stand in to see doujinshi :P

A lot of limited goods go on sale at Comiket and they nearly all sell out by noon. In the afternoon the hall clears out quite a bit, but for those who need to brave it in the morning (vendors, people with a long shopping list, cosplayers, and people who want those limited items) it's a bit of a battle.

My last Comiket all I can remember is getting yelled at all the time cause I wasn't constantly in motion. If you stop to rest for even one second, someone will be on you in an instant asking you to move. The CD guides should be out soon I think so hopefully we can make a game plan. If we gotta do the 31st, I may be a bit late as I have to meet up with someone in the morning and probably won't be able to make it to Big Site until noon or 1ish at the earliest. CelestialShadow, I will probably plan on being at your place from the 28th until the 2nd if you are cool with that. Maybe even the 3rd. I don't go back to work until the 10th so I have quite a bit of time to kill. I was planning on bumming around Tokyo for New Years Eve/Day and going to a countdown concert, but if I'm unable to get tickets I'll be looking for some suggestions on where to ring in the New Year.

Also costume and boots have been ordered and paid for. Just got to make a final decision on the wig!

i know for sure eisuke wont be up until after 10....but then again the boys line was never long so he probably will just get in at out when he does arrive. The only problem is I will have to do his makeup when he meets with us.

If you are wanting to get nice photos of your costume (for personal use on websites ect) then I would really push you to do them at my home, tonari is great but frankly tie dye backdrops are not my thing and I would rather save myself the 2000 yen it cost to get in there. I would rather have some sort of scenery and or props in the photo. My living room makes a great backdrop (victorian style) and I will also have a christmas tree and some faux presents set up so if you want to use it for photos go right ahead. I also have some black backdrops but space is going to be an issue so if we use those we will have to move all the futons and luggage in the tatami room to the back or to another room and try to make some space for it. It would probably be good to do photos either the day before or after the event on january 1st...if we are not too hung over or dead tired lol.

kiratsukai

I've been playing with indoor shots and my camera a lot lately but the main concern is still light. I think that's why Tonari no Ketto got the love :P The light in a glass 12th floor building is pretty much unbeatable.

Unless you have skylights or spots (we're finding that desk lamps and neck-lamps can work sort of like them), shooting in a home usually means working with a lot of diffuse light, shadows and fighting blur/grain in photos. People will need to stand pretty still and we'll have to use reflectors/mirrors to bounce light off of folks and everything will need to be brightness/contrasted up in "post production".

If people want really sharp, high res photos, they might still want to go to a photo event like Tonari no Ketto. But it'll be fun to try at yours (and a lot less stressful). It's also a good chance to play with things like tripods, reflectors, LED and candles. We'll bring the small reflector we have and some simple props that pack easily. If you have any extra swathes of cloth you aren't using, especially anything white, metallic or reflective we can fake some studio lighting :P

Yes in my home we have to use directional/diffuse lighting but I have 2 good white light lamps and a spotlight for ambient lighting. For example, my entire Meyrin costume shoot was done in my house. If we do the shoot during the day I can open up curtains and get more light in.

Also Kira, there is a mode on your camera you need to check out, whenever I do indoor shoots I use it. On your camera selection wheel there should be an icon that looks like a moon and shaking hand, its called twilight mode no tripod. try it out if you havent, its fabulous. It takes a series of 5 burst photos and overlays them on each other to get a crisper image when used in low lighting situations without making the photo blurry or too dark.

We can give it a try when you get here, I have a tripod too...I just need to find my camera clip to attach it.........................where did I put that thing?

As for new years...........as long as there is food and sweets I am sound as a pound ;)

Got preview pics of my costume already which is both awesome and troubling cause they probably rushed it. I went with cosplay1.com cause they are so highly reviewed in the commissioner review thread and said they could make my deadline but the previews were kinda disappointing. You can probably check them out yourself if you want to make some suggestions. I've requested a few changes be made. The skirt they did looks horribly meh. No structure or vertical seams at all. So I pretty much asked them to re-do it and to include an underskirt of some type to give it shape. I worry that it may be too much to ask though given the short deadline they have to work with. But I sort of panicked when I saw what they put together for the skirt.

Edit: they do have the photos up on there site at http://cosplay1.com/dtProduct.php?pId=1436#

We grabbed a catalog today.

Nothing seems to have drastically changed from summer comiket. Tohou is indeed Day 2, meaning it'll probably be the biggest zoo. Day 3 is hardcore porn-day and the day the cosplay area opens on the balcony ~ the least cosplayers seem to be participating on day 3.

The only potential problem we might run into:

There is an all-night dance party and lit factory shoot going on in Ariake only a few blocks from Big Site. We were thinking of checking it out, possibly on the night of the 30th and then crapping out the following day until we stumbled out and into Big Site to put on our Juvenile costumes, which are easy, comfy and we've worn before.

If we were to do Kuroshitsuji on Day 3, we'd not be able to participate in that particular event for certain, since it's sure to zombify us the following day.

The event says it has sleeping spots and showers available... so I guess it's POSSIBLE we'd get some sleep if we applied ourselves. But I need to ask around and see how the sleeping is, and how distracting the other things going on are going to be >.>

Updates:

1) We bought a catalog. I'm going to make copies of blank maps for everyone who wants them so they can mark their plans of attack. But I need to know what everyone wants to see (series names, genres, media formats) so I can throw away the pages no one is interested in. The catalog is HEAVY. I've already made a file with all of the rule information and general hall maps for everyone to reference. If people want to get in on the catalog and get some map copies and pour over the information ~ I'd like to ask about 400 yen for the copy fee and some of the cost of the 2,500 yen book. If you've got your own, no worries. If you don't need them, likewise, no worries.

I'll post a more full list of what is available and ask if anyone objects to certain sections being canned to lighten the load later on.

2) We talked on the ferry and highlighted what we'd like to see. I'd like to go over the options for group days with Celestial Shadow (have you got skype or can we keitai at some point this week?). In the meantime, are there any days people CAN'T do Alice?

RookBartly
12-05-2010, 08:08 AM

If you have circles you are looking for ~ the best way to find them is to go to their website. Their planned day and space (letter and number) should be posted prominently on their page.

It's difficult to find circles by romanized names within the catalog...

Minor works of the same series and media formats are grouped together, but if you're looking for a particular artist, you should look up their information beforehand.

Also, I'd be looking to check out 07th Expansion and the Johnny's Entertainment doujinshi area. If someone wants to fill me in on when/where those will be, I'll pay my part for the guide. Last year I bought one but ended up not even using it.

I've just finished an order with Zephyr for Rook's wig combined with some stuff for myself to get free shipping.

I need to place an order with vellsus and for contacts yet ~ but I'd like to touch base with sheik first about the style, since it's likely others will be having issues with stock too and we need to figure out a potential alternative.

Well, frickers. What is this - buy out all Alois-related goods season?

Classe recommends these two styles: http://classewig.com/wig/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_314&products_id=1605 and http://classewig.com/wig/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_314&products_id=1714

I suppose we also have the option of risking the lighter Vellsus in that style (><): http://vellsus.jp/?pid=22483923 OR if we could comb out this one a bit (as the bangs look cut right already). I think the back actually looks about right, though the sides should be a bit smoother. http://vellsus.jp/?pid=22517779

I actually rather like the second wig. I know it's wavier, but that would give it body and I suspect we could comb some of that out. Alois' sides are smooth but he has kinda poofy bangs in the front and then the back is a little shagged. If we just flipped those bangs to the other side, they seem like they'd be perfect. Color looks right too.

I ordered the vellsus in the slightly shorter style since it's confirmed in-stock (the short you originally looked at). If it won't volumize the way you want it to, I'll take responsibility and find something that will work last minute at Assistwig in Akiba in person when we get to Tokyo.

Bunny Progress:

Wig has bangs cut in, I think it looks nice so far. I need to re-set the style of the wig though, since one side flips and one doesn't. Will try to get to that this weekend and then work on putting in the sidelocks, flippy bits and ears.

Celeste did a lovely job on the costume and I got it today. I had been worried about the length of the ears in the photos, but I didn't expect them to be as thick as they are, so I can add some tabs of fabric or elastics to the top and sew those into the wig -- the only issue is that the ears are really thick on top and are going to displace the hair to the point that there'll be giant rabbit-growths. Suggestions to get around this? I was thinking of cutting a chunk out of the underside/inside of each on the top and then sewing the ends more or less flat and single-ply before working that into the very bottom line of the wig over my real ears -- that way they'll work like actual ear-warmers. The placement should be slightly farther back for the character, but I'm already shivering like a leaf in this in my heated apartment, I'll need all the help I can get.

My only other idea is to drop the ears under the wig and attatch them with small around-the-back headphones or earmuffs...

The shorts are also REAAAAAALLY tight >.< My fault -- I put 2 kilos back on trying to get my hair to stay in... so err... I'm going to be dieting like crazy from now until D-day, but it may be the case that I can not sit or kneel easily :P

Boot covers/boots... difficulties. Need to pow-wow with Celeste!

Yikes Kira, I am at work right now so if you wrote me a personal messege via email I cant see it here =(, Okay lets see about the ears, the sucky thing is that that farbic cant be ironed at all! Fur seemed like a great idea but hmmmm maybe something that could be ironed would have been better like fleece? I can make you another pair from fleece is you like. As for the boot covers, are they too tight? cant get them on? I wear a size 8 shoe and I was able to get them on easily and I had about 1 inch room to spare around my calves. If they are too tight I can remake you another pair entirely OR if they are too big I can alter them when you come over. Let me know whats up.

if I am slow to respond to anyone I apologize, I have a chest infection and unfotunately cant take sick days at my work since I just started so I have to press on even though I am coughing up a lung.....I am usually too tired when i get home to answer emails so I just go to bed.

I'm not bound in this photo... and I might not bind. The collar of the jacket hides my tatas admirably. A sports bra might do me for this one. The shorts are a bit too long so I've folded them under to a better length. They're tight enough that the fold-under stays put without a hem.

I still need to come up with a better way to keep the hat in the wig without shifting, figure out makeup and get the ears into the wig.

This is some of what I got up to today: "are you alice?" themed cards for myself and Rook (http://i593.photobucket.com/albums/tt18/tsuraramai/stuffprep.jpg). I don't have pictures of the character and Rook hasn't got pictures at all... but I did have cute stamps for Alice-themed nengajo. I only made about 20 for Rook, but if he'd like them, he's welcome to them. The pocketwatch is also for Rook to use as the Hatter.

Going to try to practice poses and makeup a bit more this time than I have before. It's time for me to get off my butt and level up.

And yes, my mirror is filthy >.< I'll clean it now... in my rabbit shorts. I need to stretch em out.

I worked on Alois today. Without the wig, I can't really work out the make-up yet (because I'm not sure what that shade will do with me), but the costume fits great. The only real issue I have is that the shirt is a little short so it comes untucked easily from the shorts (which isn't helped by them being just a little big in the waist). I can get up to 10 cm extra on the boots, boosting me to about 166 cm. That seems to be the limit however. There's no way I can shove anymore wedges inside of them than that. And hey, it puts me about at his actual height! However I don't think I can get the small brown bows off of the toes without tearing up the boots. Might have to overlook them.

Need to practice closed mouth smiles that don't look ridiculous.

I'm not using contacts for Marianne or Alois I decided because I want to be able to see. Both characters have blue eyes and mine are naturally blue, although not as light as Alois'.

Absolutely 100% need new Remelia shoes for Comiket.

Hey Sheik check your facebook email, I sent you something you will want to see.

Well I just got word from the parents that my shoes and blazer for Alice are on the way, I still need some white pants though. I might have to conjure up a quick pair the day before the event if I cant find any at a decent price around here.

I also am still looking for a black blazer for cheshy...looked on rakuten but they didnt have any that looked good so I am going to go 2nd hand store searching here soon. There are a couple of places not far from my house that might have something worth while....

Maetel will have to made on the 25th when I get paid so its going to be a severe rush job for myself but meh...its not that hard to make.

I made all the plush cats for Sebastian though! Take a look!
http://i1010.photobucket.com/albums/af225/celestialshadow19/003-1.jpg

Just ran into another problem tonight though with shoes, the boots intended for eisuke totally do not fit, his feet are too wide. So this leaves me with two options. Either i find a pair of white dress shoes that fit him and he goes as alice OR i find leather paint to paint a pair of black knee high boots that DO fit him.........

What size is Eisuke? I have 25.5 brown boots from Konoe... barring that, Rakuten has some very good prices on boots this time of year (winter being half over and all).

The cats are super-cute ^^ Let me know if you want the ears, too. Might save you some time and they're super-cute. (lionboard base with faux suede on the inside and short black microfur on the outside with clips on each side so they pop into a wig seamlessly). It would be easy enough to take them out and stash them in a bag after a few pictures or to transfer them from one person to another for photos.

And if you give me your bank info again, I can give you the money we would have been giving you after staying up front through a bank transfer tomorrow if you want to be able to start on your other stuff earlier. Advance-otoshidama.

CelestialShadow
12-12-2010, 10:08 PM
dont worry about the bill, it wont close down comiket but it will clean it up. We have to look at this from an economic standpoint, comiket brings in too much revenue for the city for it to be closed down and Japan would be shooting itself in the foot if they did close it, the economy here is declining just like everywhere else so tokyo needs to cling to whatever buying/selling power it has. I`ve talked to Ayako about this and she says the same thing, comiket wont go away but vendors will have to be more careful about selling products.

@rook, my husband wears a size medium in ladies or a size small in mens (US sizes, if its japanese then he wears large ladies and medium mens) we are looking for just a simple black blazer, everything i see online is to formal or too flashy. If you find one I will reimburse you the cost. He actually has a formal suit black blazer it but its about 5 inches too long and he wont let me alter it lol.

As for the boots, he wears a 27 and he has wide feet =( I have a pair of old black leather knee high boots that I bought at second hand store that I can paint, I wont miss them if I do so I will go down to the craft store and get some fabric paint and see what I can do before purshasing another pair. I found a pair of white dress shoes for 2400 yen on yahoo that I might get if the boots thing doesnt work....

*carries soap box into the room, plops it down and climbs up*

"Freedom of Speech" laws are designed to protect political freedom, the expression of religious belief, the creation of controversial art, and to avoid supression of unpopular ideas. They are designed to protect free discourse, open access to knowledge and the right of each and every one of us to have and express unpopular opinions.

They might protect outright pornography by accident, but they have NOTHING to do with it by design. Equating the supression of virtual diddling of virtual children for the lulz to losing some great, sprawling expanse of freedom really brings into focus how much free time we all have on our hands and what a charmed existence we live.

In some countries you can be killed for doing things we take for granted as God-given rights.

Virtual child porn is not a right. It is something that exists on account of a legal grey area. There's no doubt of the moral reprehensibility of sexual acts with real children and that depictions of even virtual sexual interactions with children are objectionable to a majority of society. Democracy has a funny way of bending to the majority's wishes. That's how it works. If the Japanese people want lolicon and shotacon off the shelves enought to vote for it to be made illegal: it ought to be.

Comiket has always operated with the silent blessing of mainstream media and exists within the legal grey. If the legal grey suddenly becomes not-so-grey, Comiket too, needs to adapt.

Luckily, Comiket isn't about underage porn. Lolicon and shotacon are a very tiny segment of what's available there and the genres are just as controversial within fandom as without. The inability to sell or purchase it without legal fallout will not affect Comiket in the least: it will affect the legality of the current and past purchases/creations of lolicon and shotacon fans and the amount of material that is openly sold at the event.

Perhaps it's time to find some other ways to tickle our pickles?

Comiket will go on. And really, very few of us will miss the naked toddlers.

*climbs down*

If anything was going to stop Comiket it would have been the banning of the depiction of graphic genetalia in print over 20 years ago. Not only did Comiket go on, but that law is largely ignored by every artist who attends... more blatently every year.

Rarely are doujinshi targetted for any sort of legal fallout whatsoever, they're off the radar of most politicians and parents.

Oh, and the blazer looks fine. I doubt anyone will notice. I certainly didn't.

Masonkun

im worried about to love ru the manga mostly and titles like it, im not talking doujinshi in general although I would hate to see nisemididorimikis stuff disappear since he is such a talented artist. Bu manga in general and the late night blocks and AX. Those things could feel the crunch. Apparently now even some publishers are banning highschool uniforms and highschool settings, which isnt really a bad thing but for titles such as sasameki koto it is. There is no nudity but its a bout a lesbian relationship which is targeted with bill 157.

The "are you alice?" fan-friend I previously mentioned as possibly going as a 2nd rabbit has mentioned the March Hare. I'm going to follow up with a formal invitation to join the group as either character. It's a bit late in the game to be turning out new costumes and changing costume plans but she hasn't posted her own costume plan yet and the white rabbit is already finished ~ so it might work out. With a second rabbit, I could double as a photographer and get some cute shots of everyone together. Though she probably wouldn't be able to join us all day. She's also mentioned wanting to do an after party of some sort.

At least one member of the kokusai koryuu group has also expressed interest in an after party.

I know the manga never shows him with a tail but somehow I think a long bushy tail would look adorable...on that note, what color are his ears and tail???????? Of course in the manga its all black and white and in the concept art I`ve seen they seem to be dark brown like his hair or kind of maroonish???? I have some dark maroon fleece left over from god knows when and am thinking of using that to make the ears and tail and then hand painting some dark chocolate brown stripes onto them....any thoughts anyone?

Thanks again Kirasuikia for hooking up the wig for me! Can't wait to see it! I like the cards you made. That pocket watch looks awesome. Once I seeya and get the wig, I/we can take some shots. Also as far as pics of Kurogane outfit, I am missing the belts which I got lazy on and ordered a set from someone because it's a lot of leather dying that I didn't have time for. I should have it in about a week. I am going to try to get some good shots of that cosplay when they come in.
CelestialShadow, I think your right about it would be easier if we all meet up outside of comiket the morning of or crash at your place. You are also right about that not everyone is a morning person. I know myself is not one but I can get up if need be. I would perfer to crash at your place the night before with the rest so we can all can go together. Also we could do last minute work / fixes on stuff. That being said, as I had said before I some leather working skills, FX makeup skills, and some metal working skills. Sould I bring my mini tool kit / makeup kit? If I am going to crash the night before the day we do 'Are You Alice', I will need your number to call you when I get close to your stop (Kanegafuchi Station on the TOBU Line right). Msg me with or send it to me on Skype.

Does anyone need me to bring any of my stuff / tools?

@Rook> I always enjoy learning something new. If you have something you want to show off or share, bring what you need to do it :) I'm still pretty noob at all this, so anything I can pick up is a plus.

Will scan pose refs for everyone from drama cds/vol. 1 of are you alice? sometime this weekend hopefully. If anyone is interested in hearing one of the drama cds beforehand ~ I have the March Hare's here. I can always email you a zip.

I'll also try to get the ears in the damn wig.

@Celeste> There is a large, full-color image of the Cheshire Cat on the cover of vol.2 of the manga. It may come in handy.

@Whole Group> Want to do an Alice shoot on the night of the 29th then? If everyone will be together, it might be a good time to play with photos... though space is likely to be an issue. The prop situation will be greatly enhanced by everyone bringing a childish scrap-paper drawing of their own character done in crayon or scribbly colored pencil and anything small they might want to use for their own character that isn't necesarily on hand (a pack of cards, appropriate chess pieces, etc.). Ah hell, we could have a proper Mad Tea Party :P

boy my house just keeps getting more and more full ^^
okay so unless one of you have severe allergy problems this is how the rooming is going to be.

3 girls in the tatami room (need to leave some space for luggage, I will clean out my closet to make some space for your stuff)

2 boys in the computer room (there should be enough room for 2 people and a luggage or two, if not you can store your luggage in my sewing room or hallway.

Myself and hubby in the sewing room.

For girls in the tatami room, most likely my cats will be snuggling with you all throughout the night. they like to sleep under blankets with people =)

So if you have an allergy problem, i will have to re shuffle people because I have an airfilter running 24/7 in my living room that cleans the air for the tatami and dinning area.
if worse comes to worse two people can camp out on my living room floor (I have a nice heated carpet there)

Preferrably I want to keep the dinning/living area free and clean so we can use that for photos if desired.

If it had been less adorable looking, I wouldn't have bothered... though at least now I can carry a wallet and camera with me. I did find out I need much longer drawers though if I want to be accurate. Not sure if I can get them on time; Rebecca, I sent you an email asking if I can have them shipped to yours maybe? (I'd pay for them in advance in that case of course.)

Ok, I'm offical upset as of today. I grew my hair out so I could style it for my Kurogane cosplay. But it was WAY to shaggy for my job so I went to baber shop and asked for an 'edge up'. I told them to just trim around the ears and straighten the back. DONT TOUCH THE TOP AND LEAVE THE LENGTH AS IS.

So what was the first thing he does, he grabs the trimer and cuts the top down to about half an inch. By the time I realized what he was donig he already made a path on the side of the head! And that isn't all! He did the block in the back like I asked but he did it at the base of my skull instead of the neck! I was serious like OMG REALLY?!?!?! This has to be the worst hair cut EVER in history! I wore a damn hat all fraggan day and my gortex with the hood puffed up so no-one could see the back of my head.

So now I have to try to get a fraggin wig last minute since I no long have much hair at all and he ruined my plans. Its ok. I refused to pay for the butchery of my hair and they said ok and gave me a coupon for a free hair cut. Yeah, like I will EVER go there again. I will go out of my way to find another baber shop even if that means going off base to a Japanese one and not being able to speak squat. I bring a friggen picture.

Sorry needed to rant really badly. So I don't think I have enought time to order the wig on line and get it shiped here. Any one know where a good place to find a black, short hair spikey wig from in Tokyo? Perferably near Fussa or Tachikawa. Akihabara is a trip and I don't know where in Akihabara to find cosplay shops also.

ACOS carries prichara wigs and has the thickest distribution of stores:
Akiba - http://www.animate-costume.jp/shop/satellite/akihabara/
Ikebukuro - http://www.animate-costume.jp/shop/acos/ikebukuro/
Utsunomiya - http://www.animate-costume.jp/shop/acos/utsunomiya/

Though chances are, you will need to travel into Tokyo or Saitama proper to find anything. Wigs are very much a "specialty" item.

Hello all, its been while! Okay so the other day I went to Shibuya and stopped in the Mandrake store just for the hell of it. They have a cosplay rack with used cosplays going for as little as 1000 yen! Im not joking, i bought a vitamin a full costume set for 1050 yen and its great quality, im pretty sure it retailed for about 200-300$ when it was brand new. I figured even if I have no interest in vitamin a I can recycle the thing into something else. So I suggest going back again to raid the cosplay rack one more time when you all get here. The only problem is finding something your size but they seem to have alot of S and M size costumes for those who can wear it. Anyway the vitamin a costume conveniently came with white slacks so YAY, alice pants issue solved! Still dealing with the boots for cheshy though, going to go look for paint today.

I can be yalls personal photographer if yall want since my money issues have now affected my cosplay too. Im using a nikon d40x with a sigma wide angle lense. Mason and Mixaka, from tokyo station take the maranouchi line to otemachi (one station away) from there switch to the chiyoda line and go to kita senju, from kita senju take the tobu local line on track 3 to kanegafuchi. I will pick you up at the station.

Rook I assume that you are following us home on the 29th from comiket?

Hi!

Is it ok to cosplay and not have any cards (I'll look for a place to print basic ones)? I would also love to meet up with everyone on the 29th as well but unsure of the meeting time or place. I can't speak Japanese (even though I'm a Japanese American T_T) and often get mistaken as a local.

Yes you assume correctly. I will ring / mail you sometime durring the day so we can meet up. Not sure how that is going to work with it being a big place and alot of people. *IF* These belts show up today, then you will see me in Kurogane cosplay floating about the cosplay area inside. Kurogane is more of a summer cosplay so I will be trying to say warm. If not, then I will be trying to come up with something to work for it.

I really wanted to do my Fai cosplay for the winter one, but my lack of sewing skills kept me from finishing the shirt in time.

Ooops. Didn't see this till just now. I wasn't planning on getting in till around 6, so I wouldn't have been able to meet up at 3 anyway. Then I ended up missing a connection so I'll be even later than I wanted to be. I'm also coming from Shinjuku rather than Tokyo station! I hope to get to the house in about a hour and a half (on the train now!). I hope there is still some dinner left for me :3

I is happy. I got the belts today! My Kuro-tan is done now minus a few mod's to make the belts compatible with my armor. See everyone tomorrow! I will try to get a pic up on the page tonight so you will know what to look for.
