View Full Version : 50s/Film Noir in Los Angeles?

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone has come across a good photo location that could be used for a "Film Noir" / 50s kind of look?

My husband and I are doing Rodger and Jessica Rabbit (where we took liberties with Rodger, making him a sexy person instead of the clown rabbit.) I was hoping that I might be able to get a club kind of atmosphere - but I can't get a single club location to let me do a photo shoot.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Thank you, Liz

Or even a hotel suggestion, where I could book a room and just use it for the photo shoot.

There's a lounge that used to look the part, The Edison. I'm not sure if it looks any different now, but it had a nice aesthetic that emphasized vintage 50s-20s. somewhat industrial-ish feel.

I think they fancy themselves 'steampunkish'. Whatever.

That's a pretty nifty looking lounge! I will have to check it out, thank you. :-) I am also looking into the Culver Hotel in Culver City. It was built in the 1920/30s, so I am hoping it has the right look.

Hmm... I was about to suggest Studio 528 (http://studio528.com/) (example inside: http://studio528.com/setimages02.html ), but it seems they're moving? You may want to shoot an E-Mail to them anyway.

Even if they have closed up, though it won't help for your club shots, the exteriors in that general area around the Sprint Arts Tower / Crocker Bank Building (http://www.springartstower.com/) would be fitting for the Film Noir look.
