Hi there, I haven't posted in this section before, so if I've put I put it in the wrong section, sorry. Anyway, I'm hoping to work on Josephine Baker costume. Her banana skirt one to be exact. Here a picture: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b1/Baker_Banana.jpg What I need help with most is the banana skirt. I want to make it two layers instead of one. (it will cover more). Think you guys can help? Please and thank you!

Ah! SO EXCELLENT! What a great, great idea for a costume. La Baker was fierce.

My recommendation: find a sheer (or skin-tone) fabric that roughly matches your skin, and make what's either a very wide belt or a VERY short skirt to which you can attach both layers of bananas. A pattern for a laced waist-cincher might do you (a la Simplicity 5359's pseudo-harem getup) or since it won't be showing much you can probably just freestyle with a rectangle of fabric. Hooks-and-eyes make a good, mostly invisible closure.
