View Full Version : What fabric would be best for a Vocaloid outfit?

So here is my little problem...
I am going to cosplay SF-A2 Miki this year at AnimeDetour. (Some pics of Miki: http://media.animevice.com/uploads/0/5776/166754-sf_a2_miki_large.jpg http://media.photobucket.com/image/sf%20a2%20miki/SatoHika779/1ade5b06a817f12d91350fcfb9ddc0fe.jpg http://neo-ludwig.com/c2/Vocaloid_Cosplay_SF-A2_Miki_Costume_C00324_01.jpg )
And tomorrow me and some of my friends are going shopping and having a cosplay sewing session.
Soooo, What I am wondering is what fabric is best for Vocaloid cosplays...

I have seen some using...Vinyl(?) or something similar to that. Some of them look really good with that kind of fabric. I've seen the most vocaloid costumes that use probably cotton or something. I Like how both of them look, but The shiny/vinyl/whatever fabric kinda scares me; i'm pretty sure I'd die from the heat, I have no idea how to sew it, and it seems uncomfortable... So I would like to avoid it...

So...my question is:
What Fabric would be best for me to use?
I want something that will be comfortable and will look good.
And preferably, will be at least somewhat inexpensive...
Cause i am near broke at the moment....

And then lastly, If anyone has cosplayed Miki before, and has any tips for making the costume, I would love that. c:
Thank You so much for your time!!

That character's clothing appears to have a good weight and reflection. Something too thin would likely look very cheap and wouldn't hold that rigidly cut shape. You'd want something with a very tight weave, perhaps a mid weight cotton poly blend.

Thank you so much for the help!
