Hello, everyone--

I'm thinking about doing a Madam Red cosplay for Megacon 2011. The only problem is, with work and school, I'm limited on time. Her normal outfit is very very complicated, and although I could make it, I'm afraid I'll run out of time. I'm also not in a financial position to buy it.

Are there any variations of her attire that are more simple than her default outfit? Any help is greatly appreciated(as well as screencaps or reference pictures).

Thanks,
- Lexi :heart:

Mm, first thing that comes to mind is the dress she wears on one of the chapter covers. I can't remember which chapter exactly, but I'm pretty sure it's from one of the last chapters she was in. So, uh, start with the last Red-relevant chapter and work your way back?

It's not exactly simple, but it looks a lot less complicated from her other outifts, and its recognizable to boot. Can't find artwork at the moment, but I did find photos of cosplayers who had done the outfit:

Look familiar?

^yesssss around chapter 9-ish, I think. Maybe 8. That's a good one if you're looking for something simple but still signature Madame red!

If it saves time and effort, you could always cosplay her without her red jacket, as she does take it off for part of the episodes she's in...but I think Jacaranda's idea is the best. :)

Yup, LavenderCrimson's correct: it's chapter 9. For some reasons I can only find black and white scans of the page, but the colors shouldn't be too hard to guess. xD

The Jack the Ripper outfit is her simplest outfit to date.

She has the following outfits:

- Daygown http://yfrog.com/g427248100560759986323100j
- Jack the Ripper http://yfrog.com/2h52551520j
- Party Ballgown http://gallery.minitokyo.net/view/477074
- Burial gown http://yfrog.com/ht88716318j
- DVD Ballgown http://gallery.minitokyo.net/view/382854
- Chapter cover ballgown http://gallery.minitokyo.net/view/398384 and http://gallery.minitokyo.net/view/433541
- Queen of Hearts http://gallery.minitokyo.net/view/497115

All of her outfits save the Jack outfit need a full skirt---as in rounded and huge. So that might be difficult if you're pressed for time though there are some quick/cheap ways to get that rounded look but it will compromise historical accuracy. But meh Kuro's messed up in that department in the first place.

...Think about it: Sebastian is in an edwardian styled suit IN THE VICTORIAN ERA. And Edwardian is post Victorian. ^^;;

Oh my, thank you so much everyone! :D <3 I really appreciate the help. I might end up going with the burial gown.

XD;;

Reminds me of this joke we did wherein, I went as Mdm. Red and in the skit for our Day 1, I 'died' so for day 2, I was supposed to reprise the role albeit in the burial gown.

But the day 2 got cancelled and we never got to live out the joke.

There isn't much refs of the burial gown save it's white and she wears a string of pearls though. You can add more character/depth if you look up historical burial gowns to give it a special touch :)
