A quick search yielded this, is there anything specifically you would like help with? (p.s. prepare for people to remind you to post links to reference pics)

I am looooong overdue to make a replacement belt for one I lost. I used two pieces of quality vinyl sewn back to back. That made the 'girdle'. Straps made the same way were inserted before sewing the front of the girdle. I make my own posts from pieces I found at a hardware store. The belt that goes around the girdle was made the same way. The keeper on the back is attached with eyelets. Here is a photo of the one I made before.

just to clarify, there's no break in the broader area (girdle) of the belt, so that is slipped on over your legs and then the inner belt is tightened?

Sorry for the late response. The girdle is a strap of vinyl just like the belt. It overlaps in the front, with velcro to keep it in position. The velcro I used was the stick-on kind. The glue melted due to the chemicals in the vinyl. My remake will have sewn-on vinyl. I think you can see the overlap in this photo:

I uploaded a new photo to show how the girdle of Ed's belt overlaps.
