Hey there, I was wondering what materials I might need to make a Matryoshka costume.
I'm cosplaying for Anime Boston 2011 and was hoping I could start now and finish in time for said convention.

Here are some reference images:

For the pants, I'll deal with that myself. And for shoes, I'll just wear some running shoes. Gloves aren't a problem either. Sewing isn't a problem either, but I'm not a professional in any way...
But I do need contacts (maybe) and the face markings.
Please help and give me advice! This is my first DIY so I want to do as well as I can.

Please & thank you >.<

None of your links work. "Hotlinking not allowed" according to the source.

I fixed the links, I checked and it should be able to work this time.
If not, then I don't know what browser you use...

Haha! I've got the same problem. Unfortunately I can't find any contacts that even come close to it... It's going to be hard to find one anyway since their eyes are 3 times bigger than ours so it fits more colour in Dx

get hoodie from american apparel or 2nd hand store, then take black and white fabric marker to it, you'll need about 2 blacks and one white *i suggest 3mm decoFabric by marvy uchiha* then for the face markings do black eyeliner. but make sure you use really white foundation.

I did this cosplay for halloween!! :D Basically what ninjagal6, but I painted mine and it looked okay. You just need black and white acrilic paint. xD the contacts...I can't help you there. sorry ;A;

I just finished my Matryoshka!Gumi jacket for a convention four days from now. That PV's a good one for simple costumes ~ ;D

Anyway, what I did was use felt to make the face on the jacket, since I'm not a big fan of fabric paint. It just doesn't look as nice to me. x____x I didn't even sew it; just heat'n'bonded everything and it looks fine.

For the markings, I'm just using black lipstick and black eyeliner. Nothing too fancy. Also, don't forget that Gumi has two lip rings on the right side of her mouth!

Contacts, I can't help you with, since I'm a little biased and personally opposed to them myself. Good luck finding the ones you want though! <3

Ah~ Thanks a lot! I think I'll give it a try, but if I fail to do so; I'll just say I tried my best XD

I'm pretty good in sewing so I'll probably sew this... I love felt though, haha.
& I saw a nice pair that are quite familiar, but they're like circle lenses and I'm not a fan of wearing them; but they are really nice hahah.
Thanks (;

I saw a Gumi Matryoshka cosplayer at ALA and she used black electrical tape for the markings. It looked really nice. She also just wore regular red contacts, and her costume still looked amazing. I also believe she had fake lip rings.

Oh hey I might be doing Matryoshka Gumi for AB too! I bought a hoodie from Salvation Army and sewed some felt on for the markings, and so far it looks pretty good. I'm not going to wear contacts, though, I can't really afford them :P
