Undertaker crossplayer here with most of her stuff together and in the works ofbeing made. There's one aspect of the costume though I'm having trouble with. With a lot of research (because I'm a stickler for details) I found out that real people in the general time period for Kuroshitsuji had the same pendents Undertaker has, they're called Victorian Mourning pendents. Basically small pendents or rings or such with a deceased loved one's hair knotted into an intricate pattern under glass.

For the moment I'm strapped for cash so if worse comes to worse I will be using a few cameos I have laying around, but I really really would love to make faux mouring pendants. Make, not commission because I don't have the cash.

I cut my own hair, and my friends wigs and such so I can save scraps of hair for that but my problem is the rest: the base for the pendant and the glass cover. I don't have the tools for metal or glasswork, and I don't know anyone who does either. Does anyone have any tips on what I can use/do?

Ref for the one we get a full view of in the manga: victorian mourning pendant (http://oi51.tinypic.com/29eruro.jpg)

I know this topic is relatively old, but I thought I'd share anyway.

I'm in the process of making the mourning pendants myself. I am in the very early stages of it, and as my first attempt I am making them out of cardboard and a very thin plastic sheet (you know that kind you use in school to look at overheads?). I am not sure how it will turn out, but so far it looks pretty good, actually.

I will come back with any information later, incase someone else are at a loss for how to find/make them :)

Pictures would be love when you've completed them~ Maybe some instructions as well~?

I've been toying with the idea of just getting some pendant bases and covering the hair knots with resin, but as of now thats a bit on the expensive side for me, so your method would be amazing :>

Right, so I've finished the first one.

It's made of normal cardboard (from a cereal-box, I believe). This was the base:

Then I put something like this on top, and styled the circles how I wanted. Five layers did the trick. Be creative :)

Here's the finished product. It's painted silver, and the darker colour is simply a black pen. I tried to give the illusion of depth at the sides, but... well, it looks better from a little distance. The hair is mine:

Here's the back, so you can see the base clearly:

And here are some details:

I do believe the pendants are supposed to look different, though, so I will have to come up with something else for the other four. CREATIVITY! IT'S THE KEY! THE KEY I SAY!!
