I'm making Link's gauntlets for a commission (Pictured here (http://i521.photobucket.com/albums/w335/sync2285/Ocarina%20of%20Time/Link.png)), and I was wondering how to complete the rings along the forearm. I have some ideas, such as just putting a layer or two over the base, but are there any better options? I don't care about how difficult the construction is, I just need it well made and sturdy. Preferably fast.

Also, pleather or suede? There's not enough time for me to use leather, and I wanted to have some opinions on which would look better.

Unless you can find a good pleather that isn't too shiny or obviously fuax looking, I would say go with suede, so it might looks more "real."

Just found some awesome gauntlets... The website is http://www.sharpmountainleather.com/servlet/the-75/armor%2Carmour%2Ccosplay%2Cfantasy%2Clarp%2Csteamp unk%2Cgladiator%2Cwarrior%2Cwasteland%2Cpost-apocalyptic%2Cdragon-armor%2Cdragon-scale/Detail

They are insanely accurate looking, still would need the fingertip gloves and the bracer padding but the gauntlets look amazing. I just ordered them but haven't received them yet.
