Thank you everyone in advance.

I'm sort of at a loss. Recently, my roomie and I decided we should start getting costumes ready instead of continuing to procrastinate. For upcoming cons, I was planning on cosplaying Apollo and Wocky from the Phoenix Wright games. Polly's almost done and not a problem at all, however when it comes to Wocky's coat, my mind blanked out. The pants, I'm just buying from a thrift store, the shirt I was planning on screen printing, but I don't know how to approch the dang coat. To me it always looked like a letterman sort of jacket, but my rommie said that it should be a fabric that has some sort of shine to it, and then my sister suggested a sweater fabric. Either way, I'm not quite sure what to buy or what to go after for a pattern of sorts [after looking through pattern books, I'm thinking I'll be modifying something]. So... please?

You could probably go with a pleather or silky fabric if your going for a shiny effect.

I don't know whether this would be of any help to you, but my nan made me a Wocky doll:

She used satin for the pink/purple parts of the jacket, and cotton left over from my Alita dress for the yellow parts (though I don't know if this would be too thin to use on a full-sized jacket).
