Any Aussies here who have been affected by the flood?
I'm in Brisbane and the river's banks have just broken and already places are becoming inundated... So many roads were closed off it was hard to try and find a way home >.<
Here's a video for those out of the loop:

It's been like this since a week or so before Christmas, and it has also been raining for our whole Summer break (7 weeks).
Worst summer ever. :''<

It's been rumoured that now that it's reached Brisbane it'll be far worse than the 1974 flood (http://www.google.com.au/images?q=brisbane+1974+flood&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi&biw=1152&bih=516), which was a pretty bad one...
As of now me and my other friends are waiting in our homes for the water to hit....

This should be in the Aussie section at http://www.cosplay.com/forumdisplay.php?f=153

I have some rellies in Brisbane so hope they'll be ok. They lived at Darra which isn't currently on the list of expected to be flooded areas, but the CBD might be??

True. However, since it wasn't cosplay-related I figured it should go here... up to the mods though.
Yeah, my suburb isn't on the expected areas so I'm not too worried for myself, more for my friends who live right on the river, and my Mum's warehouse which is also right by the river...

Yeah I saw all this on the news, I feel lucky that with all the rain Victoria is getting as well we haven't had any flooding. Stay safe and don't go surfing... I saw some guys doing that in Melbourne when it was flooding in the CBD a while back.

Yeah, I felt lucky at first that the flooding was up in Rockhampton... but this morning while watching the news I realised it was gonna hit soon XD didn't get worried till they said the river broke its banks though.
I hope after the flood it'll clear up- birthday's on the 1st and I want to go to Dreamworld for my birthday >.< I hope school closes up too, I haven't done enough cosplay work these holidays.

I'm from Brisbane too, and one of the lucky ones. Just a couple of streets away it's under water. :(

I think I'm one of the lucky ones. Been sunny and dry on my street all day, no water yet so I don't think we'll cop it. Thank god <3

I've been watching it on the news... so crazy. I feel so lucky living here in Ontario where we don't get that sort of crazy weather. No extremes here.

Bugger, the Darra suburb where my rellies live (or lived) is now on the list of areas expected to flood..

It's looking more & more like New Orleans with Hurrican Katrina..

On the plus side, the aid efforts are already hard at work. It won't prevent the damage but at least recovery efforts shouldn't be as bad here in Brissy when compared to what happened in New Orleans.

Yeh, it's going to be a long road to recovery. Hopefully there jobs stay secure, otherwise they might move back to Adelaide again hah.

Have since found out the rellies are still alright, property unaffected thus far even though they're in a listed affected suburb. Just the neighbouring parts are flooded..
