View Full Version : Dark skinned female dragons?

I generally just kill stuff, don't pay too much attention to it otherwise, and I'm unfortunately not as much in to lore as I wish I was :( So last night I noticed that Nefarian's human form is darker skinned and thought that was pretty cool.
I have an original design dragon costume I've been working on and I wanted to give it a Warcraftian dragon feel/style, but I have not yet looked in to which dragon(s) to base it off. The material I purchased for it is a turquoise color (have yet to see it in person), it could either look more blue or green, so I'm wanting to try to find darker skinned dragons in the green or blue dragonflights.
Any help is appreciated! If anything I'll just be looking at general styles but it would be cool to have an actual character to base it off.

There's nothing by lore that's technically between blue and green.
Some netherdragons are turquoisey, but it sounds like your fabric is dark? And they are pretty glowy/light/luminescent.

The blue dragonflight is based on magic and the arcane, and was led by Malygos who was killed in Wrath. His "human form" is described as being half man half creature and magical looking, so I doubt that would work for you. There a few female blue dragons, but most of them fairly normal looking elves, humans, or gnomes.
The green dragonflight is in charge of dreams, and is led by Ysera. Now she has a new and interesting model in Cata. Several other green dragons take female night elf forms.
I would suggest going to wowwiki.com and reading about the blue and green dragonflights, it will give you the lore (if you're interested), but also lists known members. Hope that helps some :)

I ordered the Octopussy Atlantic from this site (I'm a bit nervous that it won't get to me though, it's shipping international, was sent out almost a month ago, and I still don't have it)
It looks more blue but it's definitely going to be really shimmery, so I'm not sure.
Thanks for the help! I'll definitely check out the wiki for the individual members to see if anything works. I totally want to go green but I feel like the fabric is going to be bluer.

That fabric is actually pretty close to the color of the nether dragons. However there are few of them, and only 3 take another form. 2 take the forms of blood elf males, 1 is a goblin. So there really isn't much to go on as far as costume inspiration goes.

(offtopic) I found this fabric at Hancocks and it made me lol http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v58/shivanikatt/gaydragfab.jpg If anyone wanted to do a gay pride dragon, there is their material :v
(back on topic) I'll go ahead and post my sketch I suppose, the concept is naked dragon, I'm mainly making it for Dragon*Con (it's totally appropriate for D*C), will have to see how it turns and then decide if I want to wear it to Blizzcon:
The only real place I have room for design altering is the wing style a bit, definitely the head piece, and the end of the tail. I do like the idea of basing it off the nether dragon though, that coloring looks perfect and I like how the ends of their tails are cool.

You know what that fabric reminds me of? Cyanigosa's dragon form. So off the bat, I'd say something in the blue flight for sure.
There's a list of named and notable blue dragons here :
and it looks like there are plenty who don't have a known human form, which gives you plenty of liberty with skin tone. Along that line, You could do a living version of Sindragosa, Sapphiron, or Madrigosa. Vyragosa is a still living but lesser known mob.
... Now that I've scanned through that list, why does it seem like so many of the blue dragon females get killed and come back scourged?! haha.
Hope my input helps.

The only dark skinned female dragon I've seen in game is Zidormi (Bronze Flight) in the Violet Citadel in Dalaran:
