View Full Version : Skirt help?

Hello all!
This may be completely the wrong place to put this, but I know a lot of people do steamy-burlesque outfits, so I thought people here might be able to help.

I am completely in love with this outfit here: http://www.bibianblue.net/satine-p-73.html, but unfortunately, it's a wee bit out of my price range. I'd like to try to make the skirt on my own, but having attempted it twice, I'm finding an issue that my swags are not laying correctly (and rather making me look like I have dude parts sticking out. Not cute.)

I'm also planning on changing up the train so it doesn't look quite so messy. Probably getting rid of the lace, it's a bit much for me.

Does anyone have any tips on how I can go about constructing this? Or patterns that might work? In particular, how do I get the front pleats to lay flat like that? Any thoughts are appreciated!

Something a bit like this: http://www.simplicity.com/p-1769-costumes.aspx might help you out on the front swag. Even if you don't use the actual pattern, it will help you a bit more with how you should lay out your piece to make the pleats.
