For those people in North America who are not eligible for the academic version of Photoshop, it appears Adobe is running a sale on Photoshop CS5. It's $299 + tax instead of the usual $699 + tax.

I don't see where you see the $299+tax price at. The $199+tax is an upgrade version (upgrading a previous version of Photoshop to CS5) or a Student Version (which requires you to be a student to get a license for).

I corrected the URL. Try the replaced URL in the original post. Depending on what URL you enter, you either get the regular price or the sale price. I guess Adobe is experimenting with promotions.

Nice catch! I already have PS CS5 myself, but this is a great chance for those without adobe software to get the awesome program at a nice price!

Thank you so much for sharing this! I lost my current version of photoshop, and I've been looking to upgrade.

I don't see why anyone wouldn't use GIMP. It's just as good as photoshop. =/

I took advantage of that deal awhile back too and upgraded from PSE. I've used a lot of tools, including GIMP, and well, GIMP is no Photoshop. So a deal like this is well worth jumping on if you can. Especially since so many of the tutorials and articles in web design mags are oriented around Photoshop.

I also took advantage of that deal, so thank you for sharing! Now if they'd just do the same for Illustrator, I'd be extremely happy.

Good to hear that some people were able to take advantage of that deal. I thought it would be useful to share.
