Okay, so im going to work on a rapunzel cosplay, and for the corset-type top she wares, I was going to use mccalls costumes 4107 pattern and alter it a bit and add in boning chanels like the ones on her top. I was wondering what kind of boning i should use, and also if there are any stores besides onlineones where i could get in. (cause i hate waiting for stuff i order to come in ^^) thanks!

For boning, I recommend using the long 48" zip ties from Lowe's. Like any boning, you would have to cut them down to size, but they're a much higher quality than the stuff you get at JoAnn and they're ultimately cheaper.

I used this pattern because it had seems in what looked to be the right places, and was a long bodice like she wears. Also, the pattern on the fabric hides the waist seam rather well I think:
It came out like this if you're interested to see it, all I had to do was make the neck a little bit of a sweetheart and that was it(minus the sleeves, those were from another pattern):

I second the zip ties for boning suggestion! I've never made rapunzel's dress, but I've used the zip-ties for boning a renaissance corset and it shapes and holds perfectly fine :).

if you want this to be a real corset, that is to say, it works, you will need more than just boning. you will need coutil as the inner stabilizing fabric. i bought mine and spiral steel boning @ tutu.com. by FAR the cheapest ive found for either. (you will also need prussian tape for boning casing) but you could just use the boning and it will be there for support of the garment... good luck!! i too am making a rapunzel dress
