View Full Version : Modifying generic dragon wings into Zekrom's wings??

I've been looking into
these dragon wings (http://cgi.ebay.ca/Adult-Dragon-Wings-Halloween-Party-Costume-/250719147861?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a60069755) for my Zekrom gijinka cosplay. The problem is, they look fairly close to Zekrom's actual wings (http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/8/81/644Zekrom.png), but not quite - there are a few obvious differences, such as Zekrom's wings being more blocky and bulky, and less organic-looking.

Would anyone be able to suggest how the wings could be modified to look like Zekrom if purchased? Any help would be appreciated :)

Hmm... It is possible to modify those other wings or add onto them to make them look like you want. I really don't know much about latex though. Which is what those wings you linked to are made out of. Though you might want to look up some tutorials or videos or something about latex and how you can use it to modify those wings.

Sorry I'm not much help.

EDIT: I found some stuff on how you may want to do this

*Painting Foam Latex - http://www.ehow.com/how_6319473_paint-foam-latex.html
*How to Make Foam Rubber - http://www.ehow.com/how_7834492_manufacture-foam-rubber.html

Sounds good, though a bit on the difficult side... I might try it, but in case I have to settle for something easier, do you have any ideas?

Well I'd make them from scratch. So maybe you might concider that as an option? I'd make them out of a thick copper wire or pvc pipe (to support the wings), foam (to give them their shape), and fabric (light weight and makes em look pretty).

As for connecting the wings to the costume, maybe a harness made from an old backpack or a piece of wood with straps. Don't use cardboard for the harness cause it'll fall apart rather quickly under the stress of your movement and the weight of the wings.

It shouldn't cost as much either depending upon the materials you use.

Hope that helps. :)
