I am making this version of Mystique and need some advice on what to do with the belt. The dress I made out of a bodysuit and am making the skirt pieces separate and attaching them to the belt, but I'm not sure what would be the best method of construction for the skull pieces. I'm not very experienced with props. I was thinking about buying a skull mold and filling them with clay, but that seems like it will be too heavy. Anyone have any other ideas on how to do it?

If someone out there is really good at this sort of stuff I might be willing to buy them, also.

Thanks in advance!

You might look at Halloween string lights. They are about the same size and you'd just have to string them together like a really large necklace. Here's some (http://www.partycity.com/product/musical+skull+string+lights.do?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=ProductSearch&utm_campaign=GoogleMerchant&extcmp=GoogleMerchant) and another (http://www.bonanza.com/listings/NIP-Totally-Ghoul-Musical-Blinking-Halloween-Skull-Lights/21530252). If you shop around you should be able to find a bunch of different types.

I would also suggest going to a costume and/or Halloween shop and purchasing an equal number of loose plastic skulls. They tend to sell skulls for varied purposes. Then run a cord or wire of some sort through them to finish the belt as per your particular waist requirements.

Yeah, I've gone looking at a few halloween and party stores unsuccessfully. I thought I'd be able to find more skull stuff but haven't had much luck so far. Thanks for the help so far!

Do a search on Amazon for 3" skulls or 3" foam skulls. I just bought some for a costume cane topper and they're not soft foam but hard foam...and easily repaint-able if you need.

I would definitely buy the second link skulls and see if you could detach them from the lights, if not spray paint would work or you could sew white cloth around the cords so they won't show. Don't be afraid to cut the cord either since you won't be using the lights :)

Everybody is definitely on the right track with Halloween/holiday stores. Here's my Mystique:

They're plastic skulls that I painted and cut. Halloween stores are the BEST!
