So, I've seen this movie a couple of times and the last time I saw it I was determined to oen day make at least one dress from it (specifically the purple one Streisand wears towards the beginning), but I have no idea where to start looking for patterns and such. Are the dresses Edwardian? What kinds of fabric would be suitable for them?

Any help at all is greatly appreciated!

The musical takes place at the turn of the 20th century (1890–1914). Which is the Edwardian period in England/the Second Industrial Revolution in America, if you're looking for more reference points I suggest looking up photos from Chicago's World's Fair/Columbian Exposition (because there has to be some tourists in those shots, hah), Titanic, and My Fair Lady (specifically the Ascot Gardens scene).
