I was pondering over an idea over the past few days of male versions of female companions, mainly Amy Pond.
Two concepts sprang to mind...
1- Male Versions
Like the femme doctors around. E.g: a skirt to mens jeans/shorts etc.
2- Drag/Crossplay
Has anyone ever done this?

Thoughts?

I have not seen a male version of a female companion.
I have seen woman doing drag as Rory Williams.

last weekend I saw a female version of jack with a john

I've not seen any 'reverse femme' female characters. I have seen guys wearing costumes of female characters but without shaving (so I couldn't figure out if they were trying ot be male versions of the character, or just a guy in drag).

If you do a masculine version of a female character, then you'll have to keep the estetic of the character but make it masculine. If you just want to cosplay the character straight up, that'd be more crossplay-drag.

I've designed male versions of Tegan and Nyssa, but never made them or brought them out to conventions.
It can be done, I'm sure, but very few people would 'get it'. That said, if you want to do it, go for it! I'd love to see what you do with the character!
