Hi there everyone. I'm new to the entire cosplay scene. its my very first convention and my very first time cosplaying. I have chosen to cosplay as Sango from the anime/manga Inuyasha. I have no idea on where to begin to make this lovely costume. Im looking into the demon slayer outfit. I have her weapon crafted and ready to go but now i need the actual armor lol

my approach was to buy a leotard and put tights on over that but i didnt think about the traditional chinese collar that she has. nor did i think of how to make her body plates. please help!!!:blubber:

if youre going to san japan it will be super to have someone help me out. Please and thank you! any comment counts!:D

Well the body plates you could perhaps make with craft foam or even fabric.
I can't explain too well, but perhaps check out this site. They have several tutorials involving armor of the sorts, as well as how to make other things as well. Hope it helps!

If you can sew or know someone who can sew, you could make the bodysuit. Green Pepper (http://www.thegreenpepper.com/adults.html) has a pattern that would work really well for her suit (it's the 408 Willamette Racing Suit). A lot of people find Green Pepper patterns to be easy to sew, even as beginners (I've never used Green Pepper before, so I can't say from experience).

If you can't sew, it would probably be cheapest for you to buy a Sango cosplay costume. CosplayMagic (http://www.cosplaymagic.com/) has the demon slayer outfit you're looking for. I've bought from them before, and their costumes are okay. They're not great, but they're not bad either. You'll have to make or buy the boots, though, since the costume doesn't come with them.

If you don't want to go that route, you could try finding a black shirt with the Chinese collar that you can tuck into some tights or other pants. However, you'll have a hard time finding pieces that will match and look good together. You also might end up spending more than if you just bought the costume.

Good luck with your cosplay!
