Does anyone know of a place online besides eBay or wildties.com that sells the old style of the ties from Harry Potter with the stripes going the correct way? Or has anyone ordered a Harry Potter tie from Wild Ties before? The images they have up for Gryffindor ties honestly just look like a Photoshop image and not the real tie itself. Thanks!

Those stripes are going the wrong way! I never noticed until I compared it to mine. You can make your own, that's how my friends and I did ours. It makes it a little difficult to do the knot because it's so thick but it's accurate and its cheap.

I bought riibbon in blue and gray (ravenclaw) and used heat n' bond to attach it to a cheapo store bought tie (from Mervyn's actually).

Of course I have no pictures of the tie cause I have a the sweater over it. =P I'm gonna be doing a photoshoot of it tonight so I'll post some pictures later tonight so you can see. =)

Ebay is selling some really cheap, correct ties. Though I wouldn't even bother with the old ties anymore. Their ties are COMPLETELY different in the new movie coming out.

Thanks AJ, I might try that if I can't find a correct tie somewhere. Cherry, I don't like the new robes so I'm just going to stick with the old ones.

Pictures! So you can see my totally ghetto-ed HP tie. =)

Edited to add: Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the new uniform either. I'd rather stick to the old look. =)

Wow, your costume rocks! Where did you get such an accurate sweater?!

I like your badge too. I have a set by the same maker I think, but I haven't gotten around to replacing mine. I'm actually in middle of making another cloak that is more accurate to replace the one I have now.

And I bought my scarf. I didn't make it... I can't knit to save my life. =) It was made by the lady who makes the scarves for:

Oh hey, they sell sweaters too... I had no idea... neato! =)

Thanks :)

I got the sweater from England. I wish I could have found a nicer Ravenclaw tie. It's actually too small for me, but the sweater hides it.

Are you getting rid of your old cloak? It looks great I think. My cloak is actually pretty hideous if you look at the stitching... I don't have a sewing machine. I'm really dreading putting the lining on my cloak.

Thanks for the address! My own scarf is gettin' a little torn up. It's also a bit thick, so it isn't horribly flexible.

It's a shame not many people get to see what I think is the coolest part of my costume.

I haven't seen many ravenclaws, but I absolutely envy your sweater!

For Halloween 2002 I sucidal....er generous enough to produce three Hogwart Unifroms by stratch for myself, my younger sister, and best friend. The most difficult part of the whole process was finding the perfect fabric for the robe, and at the right price since I needed nearly 20 Yards! I had to go all the way out to the middle of nowhere (Fontana...actually) to score the Medium Weight Black Polyester for the super low price of $1.50 a yard (I ended up buying the whole bolt for around $20). I also took liberty with the lining, I liked the contrast the quidditch robes had and felt the current robes were just too much black. Since I lacked a $6000. embroidery machine, I made the house crests using an iron applique- it looks good presentation wise, but I wish people would stop asking if it's a sticker.

The only thing missing from the picture are the ties, which I didn't complete until the midnight release. Since they don't sell striped fabric, I made my own fabric by serging strips of fabric together and then placing the pattern piece on the grain (Diagonal). It really pulled the costume together, but unfortunately my digital camera ate those pictures >.<

Wow, your robes rock! You're all set for PoA now because of the lining :) I'm trying to find a new pattern for my new robes.

Just a small warning on if you buy a wand from Alivan's...they look nothing like they do on the website.

Manda: Really? I was thinking about getting one. Did you order one? Did you get the wrong one or are they not made well or something?
