View Full Version : Peg Dolls: Night Terrors Captur help.

I want to do the Amy Dolly! lol

The problem is I've been unable to get a good screen capture of the front of her dress for reference due to the crappy contrast of the footage I have as she's walking down the stairs. :fuming:

Her skirt taffeta fabric is sadly unique and was only able to find these online.

My other option is to spend about $100 on creating the fabric on an Organic Cotton Sateen or Cotton Silk.

I'm working on this for grallifrey, and for the skirt I'm just cutting the panels and sewing them together. That's what it looks like to me anyways, and there's more control there.

Do you have a clue what on the front bodice of her dress?

If you really do get this done in time and wear it to Gallifrey One...I want to warn you that there will be a Donna or Amy running away from you crying. Those dolls were freaky as hell, and I have a bad fear of clowns/people in mascot costumes at theme parks XD
Thanks for the warning though, I'll be sure to bring a paper bag to breathe in XD

HAha. Well, there will be at least two of us, though I have no idea how we're getting those heads across the country!

And sadly no. I can only see part of the top of the bodice, which looks plain.

I'll guess I'll have to wait this the DVD's comb out and hope for extras. I'm not making her till the summer anyway. I'll post what I've extrapolated from a screen shoot (Horribly Grainy) later tonight.

I'm not sure if it's a spoof but there maybe peg doll night terrors figures int he works.

09-23-2011, 10:21 PM
Well, i watched the entire confidential.. and they show most of all the other dolls, but not the front of her dress

09-25-2011, 09:26 PM
Like I said it's very granny from the video capture.

09-25-2011, 09:45 PM
Ohh. that's useable though! at least to base it off of.

09-26-2011, 12:02 PM
Yeah it's just frustrating no knowing until the DVD's come out .lol

09-26-2011, 07:32 PM
Well, the DVDs have the confidential only, and i've already watched it. there's not any extra footage of her doll except the head.

09-27-2011, 08:16 AM
That's true but If I can get hi res shot's from the DVD episode I can tweak the levels and curves to see more details then the grainy mess the ripped version I've got. ^_^

Just stumbled across this picture and thought id send u a link to it, you can kinda see the front of her dress :P but i suppose its bettr than nothin :)

Good luck :D

10-05-2011, 01:37 PM
That is brilliant!!

Now I just need to confirm the white above the dolls bust is exposed "skin" or a white collar. I would love it to be exposed skin as I'll be hot in that thing. lol

10-05-2011, 02:58 PM

judging by this pic, i think that it is exposed skin cus it goes all the way up to her head :D

I changed the brightness and contrast to get a bettr view but i still think its accurate :P

Btw, are you gunna make the exposed arms and neck outa the same material as the head ? (just wonderin) good lukkkkkkkkkkkk :mfg:

Ohh, and this might also help if you need a decant quality of the episode before it comes out on DVD... You cant access this page unless you have the link so dont lose it ;) http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b014983t/Doctor_Who_Series_6_Night_Terrors/
you can download it as many times as you want as well.... i think...

I read on the DW cosplay community on livejournal that the hair is made of "plumber's hemp". hopefully that will help a little ^_^ I plan on making the one in the green dress, and my sister is making the Amy one.

10-06-2011, 08:48 AM
The hair looked so dreaded I'm not surprised they used hemp twine over yearn. I wonder if they dyed it?

You can get hemp twine in a variety of pre dyed colours.

The green girl look like a slight bit of yellow/gold was dyed over the natural hemp colour.

If you don't mind linking that topic Biscuit as it's not coming up with the Night Terrors Tag I would love to read it.

I'm think all the doll had chest plats when there "skin" was exposed thus why there look like they have a collar around the neck.

As for the arms (originals are made from wood O__o) I'm carving them out of upholstery foam and sealing them in Acyclic/Plasti Dip. Why because I want them soft enough to put a escape slit in the forearm so I can pop my hand out at any moment to show off my wristband when asked and so that I don't need someone to get me out of the costume in an emergency like over heating in the mask.

Rawr you can't watch the video you linked outside the UK. :crylaugh:

lol, epic faiiilllllll :drunk:
srry bout that

10-06-2011, 12:05 PM
That's ok. ;)

I you can't buy this yet until I get a swatch in hand but I colour matched the original Amy Peg Doll skirt fabric to Spoonflower's colour charts and close to the original ratio size in term of stripe size.

here's the link

Why does Livejournal hate that link. O__o I keep getting Access denied.

What date was it posted?

10-07-2011, 11:08 AM
that's weird. are you part of the community? if not that's probably why you can't see it.

it was posted on 9-12

10-08-2011, 11:31 PM
Yes it was blocked to non members. O__o

There was a link to a gallery that has hi res images including Amy Doll's from the front of her dress.

It was indeed dyed plumbers hemp for the hair. Hands cast out of liquid latex off of a plaster mold of a clay sculpture. The masks were vacuumed from plastic.

awesome~! glad you were able to get to the page ^_^

10-09-2011, 12:48 PM
Awesome! I bought my fabric for it yesterday and I started making my head! I'm going the paper mache route though ^^

And, for the skirt i'm just going to sew the panels together. It's cheaper than spoonflowering it.

my head so far. it's my first try so I might do another later.

though, looking at that picture.. wtf is going on with the front of the dress? I cannot tell if they are bows or ruffles or what.

10-09-2011, 10:19 PM
moonflower: wow! great job on the head so far!

10-10-2011, 03:49 PM
It's ruffled, I'm not sure how they got the effect thou other then pinching the fabrirc an sewing it down.

10-10-2011, 04:13 PM
Biscuit: Thank you! It's growing on me. I need to make it thicker though. I'll get there though! I really like it, and i have some ideas how to keep it the right level.

I found this Medusa wig while looking up red deadlock wigs.

You can find it for cheaper but it give you a good look at the wig fiber shade. ^_^

Here are two dye tutorials
