Hey I was wondering if anyone had a full body picture of Elizabeth Swann from Pirates of the Caribbean, I am sewing a dress for it, my friends and I do reinactment sometimes just for fun and I am making the dress that Barbossa gives her, I have seen three different costumes and the skirt part of the dress is designed three different ways. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

Thats the best pic I've found - I believe it's from the displays of the actual costumes. In a couple of the movie scenes it looks like it just goes straight down the front, however. Its my guess that the dress is made to hang straight down the front, and is then pulled up on the sides to create that poofy effect. At least, thats how I did mine. ^_^

I have several of them. I'll email them to you if u give me your email. I've also made her costume and I must say that it lokks very realistic. But i warn you it is wise to pu a zipper in the back and not hook and eye tape in the side of the bodice!

Here's some pages of research photos of it:

I hope your costume goes well..I am a big fan of POTC. Jack Sparrow is my idol.

I don't know of any full-body pics, but I'm pretty sure there's a costume study of her on the internet...

Elizabeth Costume Study (http://www.freewebs.com/potc_costumes/Elizabeth.htm)

here.

Hope that helps, and good luck on your costume!

I'd really suggest just doing it the way you like best. That was the biggest pain for my gown. I'm on four different yahoo potc costume groups, I poured over pictures for months, talked to several talented seamstesses on and off the net....everyone figured it out a different way, and no one could fully figure out how the hell that skirt works. I saw the dress twice in person at the FIDM exhibit in LA earlier this year. I've known seamstresses who have made this gown, as well as girls who have made the gown themselves...and all of them have pulled up the sides differently. The general conclusion was that there seemed to be about three different versions of the gown, based on images from the ebay pics, FIDM pics, movies stills, etc. Which would seem quite logical, since there were multiples of her other gown. So yeah, I'd really say just do it the way you want!

Thanks! I made the dress already. I am working on the one she wears at the end of the movie. ^.^

If you live in Southern California (or plan to travel here soon), you have another chance to see Pirates of the Caribbean on the big screen! Disney is showing it in the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, January 13 - 30. And if you come dressed as a pirate, you get a free commemorative button. PLUS, according to their ad, they will have a costume contest at every show!

Plus, you have a chance to meet some of the people who worked on the movie. There is a "filmmaker panel discussion" at 7 PM on January 13. No mention of exactly who would be on that panel, as of yet.

Awesome, thanks for the heads up!
I've been dying to have a reason to be Elizabeth again, and I know my friend "Captain Jack" would be sorely disappointed to miss a chance to be seen.

Resurrecting a really old thread...

Quick question: For those of you who cosplayed Elizabeth in her shift that she wears on the beach, what pattern did you use? I canít find a shift pattern similar to hers. Maybe modify a dress pattern?
