Hi! So, I'm constructing this from scratch and I wasn't able to find any suitable patterns. I have the fabric and the bedroll for on top, I'm just scared to wing it without an idea of what I'm doing xD Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated!!!

What makes it tough is that, with all the pots and pans all over the place, it's difficult to see what the backpack really looks like.

Probably the easiest thing to do would be to make a simple bag (front, back, narrow bottom and 2 narrow sides) with two shoulder straps and a flap that folds over the top. From the pictures, there are a few small pouches sewn on the outside - if you opt to include these, it would probably be easiest to sew these onto the front/back/sides first, before assembling the entire main bag. Make sure to include two long straps at the top for tying the bedroll on.

You try looking through the free patterns offered here to get some construction methods/ideas, or to find a pttern you could modify:

I'd begin by looking at military surplus and some very basic hunting bags to get an idea. I can't see much in that picture, but what I can see looks just like what I use each hunting season (and I think it was military to start).

It does have a stick *skeleton* underneath all the wrappings and trappings and pans... like Harmony said it would be best to see what a backpacking or armysurplus bag skeleton looks like and replicate that, then you can get the wrappings and such to your liking
