Howdy, folks!

Checking the forum, there wasn't a generic topic that wasn't year-specific. With this one, we can talk about it every year, if need be. And since I'm the Folio Show Director for this year, here we go:

For all you CC veterans, you know the drill – “Blah Blah Fashion Show Blah Blah reserve now Blah judging blah blah". Now that that’s out of the way, let me talk to those of you who are perhaps unfamiliar with what to expect.

First- a quick explanation. Prior to the convention, the Future Fashion Folio Design Competition takes place. Costume-Con 30’s Folio was completed & released late last year and was e-distributed to the designers & the convention membership. Now that the Folio is out there, the members can reserve a design for making and wearing at the Future Fashion Show.

For those who have not entered a competition before, or have little experience, this is a great, low pressure way to get up on stage. The format is as it sounds – a fashion show, where you walk out, take a turn, allow people to snap your picture, and leave the stage. There is an MC who introduces you, and provides the info about who did what, etc. Music will be provided to set the mood – you don’t have to worry about it. And there’ll be a photo op after the show so people can take better pictures of you off-stage.

There isn’t a traditional “competition” per se, but there will be three awards given for accuracy to the source. Judging takes place before the show, in the Green Room. Hopefully, we should have a tech rehearsal to allow you to get comfortable on a walk-around. Shortly there-after, the show starts and the awards should be ready by the end of it – no long waiting.

So – interested? I’m taking reservations right now – there’s still plenty of time and lots of fun designs to choose from. And in case you missed it, I’m allowing more than one reservation per outfit. You can even make up more than one – just keep in mind that you have to provide your own model for any others you make. My contact email is: fashionshow@costumecon30.com.

And you needn’t worry about being nervous if it’s your first time – this is my first time directing any Costume-Con show – so we can be nervous together! :toothy:

And Trixy's designs have been popular. I expect to see at least 2 of them on stage, not counting her own.

Yeah, it's pretty food Folio, if I do say so myself :skidude2:

To reserve a design just email Bruce per the instructions on the last page. Looking forward to hearing from you!

They'll both get there. Funny thing is I put together the Folio book and my husband, Bruce/BuddyCat is running the Folio Show. And we've been helping each other so it's all good!

Hokay:

After an initial spate of people reserving designs for the Folio Show, things have gotten quiet. I’m hoping that some people are still mulling over the idea of making something up to display on stage. It's the first week of March – plenty of time to put in a reservation on a design, yet.

As of right now, I have 15 people signed up, with only one design being done by more than one person, so there are plenty of good ones waiting to be created. They’re not all complicated, so you can get one done and still have time for your last minute work on your competition costume (and if you don’t have one, there’s no excuse!). And don’t forget, we’re allowing multiple reservations of the same designs.

I’d like to see more of you participate, so please drop me a line at fashionshow<at>costumecon30<dot>com and let me know what Folio design you’re thinking of putting together.

Working on mine right now. Well, I did stop to finish some other projects (you know, running a convention this month and everything), but I was well on with it when I stopped.

Me too! Well, not running a convention more working on my Folio outfit. But I'll be at KawaKon - does that count at all?:sunny:

Just wanted to put it out there that there's still time to reserve a Fashion Show design and make it up. As a matter of fact, we just got another reservation the other day. That puts us at 16, I believe. If you're on the fence, choose an easy one to do.

It would be helpful if you can let me know ahead of time, but walk-ins registrations will be welcome at the con. Just remember, more than one person can reserve a design. But sometimes, that's cool, because people interpret them differently, as they did at CC28 for the Airship Captain. http://www.costume-con.org/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=13755

CC31 FFF is being run by Gypsy Ames (yeah!)
The rules, etc. are fairly standard but they have some minor variations as well as special categories so I suggest you read them thoroughly.

I'm not sure I'll have time with Dragon*Con coming up, but I did get pretty far on the Doctor costumes last night, so it's possible I'll turn in something.
