I'm looking at doing steampunk for GenCon Indy 2012 as a group and was thinking or possibly staining a blouse with tea, instead of actual dye which tends to be more... thourough in the dye process where tea may let the fibers show thorugh still, as it has been known to do with papers. Any thoughts on this?
Trying to achive that antique material look without the arm and a leg cost.

I think tea dying for steampunk is perfect. I was going to do it to a ribbed tank top for my steampunk wind-up doll I'm working on until I saw one at Target that's the perfect color for what I need. So if you want that aged look without the uniformity of dyes, I say go for the tea dying process. I've seen it done with some great results.

x3 Yay. I've talked about it with a few friends of mine and they think it'll look great too. Here's to hoping~!
