View Full Version : Avengers Loki!

Hello everyone!

I rarely swing around this place, except for every now & then, when I have new costumes to upload into my gallery. This time I felt I would share my latest creation, Loki from The Avengers movie.

This was one of my most time consuming projects ever. To say that there is just a bit of detail in this doesn't even begin to cover the number of hours that I slaved over this thing!

This is about 95% completed right now. Once I have it finished, I will only be waiting on better reference images of the helmet, spear and shoulder & cape details. Then I can have his full "king" look completed. :)

Enjoy! Hope to pop back in in the not so distant future with everything completed.

I'm shocked that no one has replied to your post yet because this is absolutely freaking amazing. I can't believe the amount of detail you've done on this costume! I'm working on an Avengers Loki costume right now and it's not going to be nearly as accurate (mostly due to lack of time and skills...). You've created it to movie accuracy. It's astounding. Fantastic work!

I'm also looking for more reference pictures for the spear. If you find some, will you be posting them on tumblr? I recently came across your Loki progress pictures on there and they are quite helpful.

Good luck on the final 5%. I'm looking forward to seeing more!

Thanks. I think people have a hard time recognizing the character without the horns. I noticed that the last 2 weekends, while wearing it. I think that once the movie is out, and they see how little he wears the helm, they'll get it then. :)

And yes, once I have reference, progress will be maintained on my tumblr.

Nice job! Where were the pics taken, if I can ask?

I'm surprised people were having a hard time recognizing it. Yours is so much more complete and accurate than mine, but almost everyone at Megacon recognized Loki when they saw it. You must have dazzled them too much for them to think straight. XD

thanks dear this is good work i like it..

absolutely fantastic work on the costume sithcamaro. do you know of anyone that sells a costume of that level, would love to have one.

Amazing work! I'd love to cosplay as TA!Loki, but I lack the crafting ability.

absolutely fantastic work on the costume sithcamaro. do you know of anyone that sells a costume of that level, would love to have one.

Right now, I don't believe anyone is offering this outfit, of any level.

I recently went to the location in Central Park, where they filmed the end sequence in the movie. I got a really cool shot, except for the fact that I took it on the opposite side of the street he's walking on. lol

Man your costume is fantastic! I'm sure you'll get more recognition once the movie is out next week. (btw, you wearing that to the midnight showing? you totally should). If anything, i'd say his outfit is more tailored than yours (i.e. your shoulder armor is a bit broad) but really I think you did a bang-up job. Are you still going to make the helm? And that jumping shot in the post higher up is spot on--kudos to you and the photographer!

EDIT: JK! Noticed the helm in your gallery pics. Nice job! It's beautiful! I hope it isn't fragile...

It's so accurate! Where did you get Ref Pics from?!!?

05-01-2012, 08:51 AM
The Tom Hiddleston fan sites are bursting with pics.
When they filmed the one short scene in Central Park, there was papparazzi everywhere. So they did everyone the favor of capturing great reference.

Oh right! Great idea! Thanks!

I'm still deciding whether I wanna do this version or "Battle" version with all the gold plates :D

Currently working on both the scepter and the new helmet. https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/s720x720/150752_10150916385435619_590560618_12266231_157274 0823_n.jpg

That is so cool. You look incredible. I can bow or something, if you want...
What did you make the helm out of? And what did you use to color and shine it?

05-28-2012, 12:03 PM
The helmet is fiberglass with a gel coat, simply spray painted with a metallic gold.

Getting further on the scepter. Just missing a few small details.

The scepter is looking great! What did you make it out of?

What did you use for the trim on the coat?

This is absolutely amazing! I'm actually attempting to make a Loki costume of my own. Do you have any tips for the scepter/staff and the helmet? I want it to look as amazing as yours except I'm on a tight budget. I'd totally buy your scepter. If it was half off :P

06-07-2012, 02:46 AM
Hey guys. I am not planning to sell this costume, only copies of the helmet & scepter. :)

Anyhow, I just realized that I never poster pictures of the completed scepter! I also just took a new photo shoot today, now that I have a weapon. I revisited the jumping shot, I hope I didn't make too crazy a face. lol

I absolutely love your costume, and the staff looks incredible! I've been to your website, and every costume looks absolutely amazing. I was planning on trying my hand at a Loki cosplay, the costume you've made, but after seeing this I decided I won't bother, because clearly this is way more work than I had anticipated, and I think it takes a lot more skills than I have (I can sew clothing, but that's about it).

It's a shame that the costumes aren't up for sale (at least not this one), but I can completely understand why when I see/read how much time it takes to complete just the one. Besides, it's way more rewarding to make your own in the end. Anyway, I'll say it again: this is awesome and I just wish I could create something as awesome as well.

I applaud you!

Thanks DD!

Pulled my first helmet from the mold yesterday. Now onto sculpting the horns!

Hi sithcamaro
I'm new to the site and when I saw your Loki costume I was like 'WOW' this is amazing and it's inspired to do a loki Avengers Cosplay even more keep up the awesome work and just asking, but when you said you were going to sell copies of the scepter and the helemt were you going to put them up on Ebay because if you could that would help me out so much

07-19-2012, 11:30 AM
Thanks Emperor.
Pretty sure the TOS doesn't allow me to discuss selling things outside of an area designated for sales. So go ahead and shoot me a PM on it. :)

Meanwhile, I am finally almost finished with my horns!

I am making a Rule 63 Loki cosplay at the moment, and I am finding it so hard to translate some of the shapes onto the female form! I have come up with a compromise for the chevroned leather top (created a bustier type thing) but I have hit a snag with the gold "scales". There is a section in the top and then sections down each pant leg. I was going to simply sewn lines onto gold fabric, but it looks crap. I could stick gold scales onto the pant legs, but what should I do about the coresty type bit? Is there a better way of going about this? I have visions of me sticking all these metal squares on, only for them to ping off when I move!

Any and all advice would be great!

You miss me? Good, because now is the time for the glorious battle to begin!

That is an incredible costume. It's stuff like that- with real artisanship- that makes me want to do cosplay...
