This might be a silly question, but is there a particular name for the style of coat that Bolin and Mako wear when not in their Pro-Bending outfits?

I'm hoping to do Bolin for Otakon and I can do pretty much everything but the coat.

As far as I know, it's called a quasi-Chinese jacket-shirt. It wouldn't be too hard to alter a pattern for Bolin's, since it's straight across at the bottom. Mako's is harder, with the fancy tail thing.

What's your sewing tech level?

On a scale of 1-10, I'd say a 0.

I can do good prop work but sewing is a non-existent skill for me >.<

In that case, my suggestion is find a commissioner, because you're not going to be able to buy it ready-made. Kind of a shame, cuz it's a neat style.

This is the closest pattern your going to find with that "flap" in the front. You'll just have to extend it a little more.

There's a great tutorial here for Mako and Bolin's Jacket.
