Looking at the couple of promo pics available makes me REALLY want to do this. The jackets can even be worn as everyday outerwear without the rest of the costume because they just look really cool. Anyone else planning on trying this? Looks like a lot of potential leatherwork, but does anyone have suggestions for alternatives? The guns also look badass. I wish there were some full shots of them.

On first attempt at dissecting Gretel's outfit, this is what I see:
- princess seamed jacket with a peplum sort of shape
- no zipper or closure other than the 2 buckles in front
- shoulder bells would need some sort of support inside to make it rigid
- pockets to the outside of each princess seam
- black leggings and tank top OR catsuit underneath (can't tell yet as I don't know how it moves)

There are a lot of synthetic leatherettes on the market that are easier to works with but most of them you can order online as Onatrio stores in general don't stock them.

I agree the jackets are pretty nice. The shoulder bells I think are just pipped the rim to hold it's shape as well. These did this with an H&M shirt I saw last fall (very Gaga style shirt).

Piping could work. I guess it depends on the weight of the fabric.

I'll have to look into leatherette. Do you have any idea if I can find it downtown? Maybe at King's, Affordable Textiles, or Fabric by Designers? I noticed Fabric by Designers has a pretty large selection of vinyls and faux leather, but I didn't look too closely because I was in a hurry before closing time to grab my Iron Man fabric.

No one's posted in here for a while but has anyone attempted to take a swing at these cosplays? I was considering Gretel for Dragon*Con without the jacket due to the weather around that time.

I was also trying to decide whether or not to use faux leather or vinyl because even under the coats, they're wearing leather vests, leather pants, and leather arm gauntlets.

Just asking for some serious dehydration issues at that con lmao.
