I'm planning on doing Claire Redfield's outfit from The Darkside Chronicles/Code Veronica. It may not be for a while and am just doing research for now. One question I have is that I don't have many pictures of her; this is one of the only one I have: http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/ss83/allycat6247/Claire_DSC_zps46563e9f.jpg

Does anyone have any pictures of the other sides (front and back would especially be helpful)? The other question is about the jacket/vest. I am wondering what material it is usually made out of. It looks like leather/pleather. I'm going to look into patterns that would be good for this, so if anyone used any please let me know.

Thanks!

here's a few pictures of the vest from different angles.

i've seen different styles of her vest. some used leather or denim or they took a dickie's work shirt and cut it down.

When I made my Claire cosplay from Darkside Chronicles I used the same reference picture that starnes82 linked, and a smiliar one to this for her design on the back of the vest. http://www.google.com/imgres?q=claire+redfield+let+me+live+png&um=1&hl=en&sa=X&biw=1280&bih=582&tbm=isch&tbnid=NeyaxAeTfuPXWM:&imgrefurl=http://cosplaynewb.com/&docid=j9CLqI9zzzNFOM&imgurl=http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2010/190/c/f/Let_Me_Live_ID_by_RedfieldClaire.jpg&w=800&h=821&ei=at9dUNixKce62gWd8oDICg&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=225&vpy=126&dur=7607&hovh=227&hovw=222&tx=126&ty=131&sig=106476631208678170701&page=1&tbnh=121&tbnw=123&start=0&ndsp=27&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0,i:73
As for materials I made mine out of Vinyl, hand painted the design on the vest using acrylic paint, and used acrylic sealer when finished.
For her belt buckle I ordered a plain silver oval buckle and painted the brass knuckle design on it with that "glitter 3d paint" people use on t shirts and such, then painted over it to match the buckle.
In the reference picture that starnes82 provided it shows Claire's choker to be blue striped and its not in game, its just black. (I think the creator of that ref image enhanced it to their liking)
Also in game her belt is not that light of brown its much darker, and her ponytail tie is red not black.
Hope all that helps, if you have any questions just lemmie know. =3

I'm no expert, having never done a claire outfit for anyone (I tend to stick to Umbrella stuff with what I make) but a lot of the time the jacket looks to be denim, so maybe starting with a red denim jacket with the sleeves cut off will be a good starting point.

The design on the back of the jacket seems to change slightly from game to game but I think the link by RavenDarkness is a great reference to use for the back print.

I hope thats remotely useful input ;)

The Jacket is definitely pleather, or leather if you wanna go all out. You could use some kind of buff to make it look shinier.

An example here: Vest (http://www.deviantart.com/download/111621889/Claire_Redfield_Vest_by_PrincessAirezen.jpg) If I were you, I'd use the pattern of a t-shirt, exclude the sleeves and include a collar.

No offense to Project Alice but DO NOT GO BY THE MOVIE. Unless you're cosplaying the movie outfits, they are completely inaccurate, and since you said you were going as Darkside Chronicles/Code Veronica which is the Wii shooter game go by the game models/pictures.

Thanks for letting me know. I haven't watched Afterlife (next on my list of movies to watch). Yeah I was hoping to find some images from the game, but not much luck so far.Yeah, I'm going with the version that I put in my first post which is Darkside Chronicles/Code: Veronica. I will probably go with pleather for the fabric, but need to find a pattern that is close enough to modify first. Thanks for the help so far guys.

What version are you looking at? I've seen places you can buy the vest and sometimes shirt,
but I haven't looked at it too much since I'm planning on making the vest myself.

I think I may have found a pattern for the vest (hopefully). I may have a pair of boots that might work, but they are a little lighter than in that picture (I can't tell if they are black or brown in the picture). The only other things I am trying to decide on are gloves and gun (maybe airsoft?)

For the gloves check out either some weightlifting or bike gloves. Local Walmart or Targets usually carry some. You can also search for tactical gloves online. As for the gun, simple rule is know your con. A lot of cons don't allow Airsoft in their rules but it all really depends on security. Some cons are super crazy on banning the airsoft others are more relaxed. What I tend to do for cons is use a full rubber training gun like

http://www.amazon.com/Revgear-Economy-Rubber-Training-Gun/dp/B005VY4BFK/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1352519431&sr=8-4&keywords=training+gun

I simply bought a magnum black sharpie to color all but the tip black so it'd look better in photos. Sharpie rubbed of a bit on the gloves/hands but I just touched it up in between shoots and stuff. Since it's full rubber and has zero moving parts I've never had issues dealing with con security.

Thanks. I've been thinking about it and I decided I'm going to go with the version from Code: Veronica. It will be easier and cheaper to make. I was thinking of using vinyl for the other one, and JoAnns's was selling it for $16 a yard. So right now, I am looking at what to use for the jacket. I have heard of people using dickies shirts, but the ones I looked at don't seem to have the right collar.

I decided to go with the version from Code: Veronica. I ordered an airsoft pistol and should get here on Tuesday. I have everything pretty much figured out, but I am trying to find a good pair of fingerless gloves (hopefully less than $15 or $20 at the most).

Code Veronica is defiantly Denim. RE2 is material and the wii games therefore most by also material as well (given when they are set :) ).

^, lol I meant to say definitely denim, not defiantly denim. Not sure how to edit posts.

I have the fabric for the jacket, but I can't remember what kind I got. I would like to get gloves that didn't have the knuckle holes, but I can't find any that I like that don't have them.

These look the part to me:

There is a whole pattern in them though which you may or may not want,a slo there are holes in the knuckles which I don't think was part of her attire.

I will say though, even with the recent hd rerelease of code veronica X, it is still hard to tell (although you still can) if she is wearing material or denim, i'm new to cosplay but as a huge resident evil fan I think you are fine either way. What matters is the logo on the back etc and making it all work together. :)

Yeah, I'm not sure either. I didn't go with denim, but I can't remember what kind of fabric it is. I like those gloves, just wish they didn't have the holes. If I can find some in the US that would be great since I need them in about 1-1/2 months. I'm watching a video on youtube of the hd game to see if I can see what they look like, but I can't get a look look at them.

I found these that are similar without the holes, but I would rather them be leather instead of whatever these are. http://www.discountdance.com/dancewear/style_A1039.html?camp=Froogle_A1039&utm_source=Froogle&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=A1039&utm_campaign=Products&gclid=CKnfuZ2u07YCFYZaMgody1MARA

The other thing I am trying to figure out is what to make the choker out of. From the game and pictures of the game online, it looks pink, but there are other pictures, like the box cover, that show it as gray or black.

Suntory_Times

The in game model for here choker is a purplely pink, as for what material, whatever you like as it shows no hints at what kind of material it is in game. However if we want to go of promo pics I would just use a pink ribbon as that is what it looks like in those. I would personally go with a slighly darker one though to match it moreso with what is in the game.

If you want to get a closer looks at her gloves and have finished the game, load up the battlemode and select first person mode. If you can't maybe check out this video (just the intro), notice her gloves are dark red. I think black would be fine though as the color surprised me, and given that I have played the game more then a few times and not noticed I don't think many would.

Yeah I was thinking about going with ribbon.

With the gloves, I was thinking about going with black, but in the game they look more brown. I haven't looked much for brown gloves, but when I do a google search for them, a lot of them are for knitted gloves. The leather gloves I found so far don't look like the right color. I watched the video and it looks like they are just plain with nothing on the front unlike gloves she wears in like Darkside Chronicles for example (http://images4.fanpop.com/image/photos/15800000/Claire-in-Darkside-Chronicles-claire-redfield-15844209-1440-900.jpg). This is the only good picture of the gloves that I could find: http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/585/clairevl.jpg

Anyone who has done Claire, do you remember which gloves you used?

As long as you can get them in black or a dark red they look fairly good.

I have another question. Does anyone have a good picture of the back of her jacket? It's the 'Let Me Live' with the Valkyrie (has brown hair and yellow edges). I am going to use transfer paper for the jacket.

I personally prefer this one:
http://www.pixiekitty.net/ragazza/images/Claire_Redfield3.jpg

All I have found is cosplay ones (http://www.the-horror.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=4404&d=1222098242) as far as I can tell there accurate. If you can't find a good pic let me know and i'll try and get some screen grabs from code veronica HD (or RE2, whichever you prefer).

The first one isn't for the costume I'm doing. I did find one online and I'm going to have one of my friends help me with removing the white background so I can use it on a transfer. http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m2nqah8bkB1qmcqv4o1_1280.jpg

As for the gloves, I did find these, although I don't care for the piping or whatever it's called: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002IKWGV6/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s=apparel

I finished this costume and I think it looks really good. I have a couple pictures uploaded. Waiting to get more from the photo shoot.

I think the next of hers I want to do is the one from the battle game. Doing some research and trying to find patterns for it: http://projectumbrella.net/files/images/end_.PNG

Since I made this thread last spring/summer, thought I would use it again. I am going to be working on this version in a couple of months for a con next June. I would like to use swimsuit material because I always thought that's what it looked like and the con I'm going to is at a waterpark. I'm going to be looking at patterns. I have a couple patterns for the shorts in mind, but not sure about the top. I'm going to look at some non-swimsuit patterns and see if I can modify them too. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it :) IMG]http://projectumbrella.net/files/images/end_.PNG[/IMG]
