This series has quickly become my favorite TV show ever, so naturally I've decided that I must cosplay from it. I plan on cosplaying as both Anna and Mary sometime next year. Anyone else love Downton Abbey and plan to cosplay from it? :)

Oh sweet lord.
When I get epic dressmaking skillage I am totally gonna be... I dunno, Mary probably. Aaaaall the fancy dresses and pretty Matthew XD

I love Downton Abbey to pieces! But as it is just as famous for its phenomenal costume porn as it is for its script and fine performances, I think I am too far from being able to do it justice lol. My sewing skills are still very newbie-ish; period dresses are out of my league.

Ah, I don't think I'm that great of a seamstress myself, but basically I am going to go very slowly. I got the fabric for Anna's black maid uniform yesterday! Eventually I also want to do Mary's red dress from the end of the Christmas Special.
I've got Sybil's harem pants down as one of my dream outfits. The clothes from this show are simply stunning.

Awesome! I have a friend who is planning on making that outfit along with one of Sybil's dresses.
I finished my Anna costume in time for Halloween, here's (http://www.acparadise.com/acp/display.php?c=63740) a few photos. I'm going to redo the top of the apron, though.
That looks amazing! You make such a lovely Anna. If your friend has any tips for Sybil I'm all ears. It looks like a huge undertaking.

Thank you! :) My friend has some of her materials for her Sybil costumes on her Tumblr (http://lunaselene.tumblr.com), under the Downton Abbey tag (although beware of S3 spoilers).

Wow! Your costume is pure perfection! I would love to cosplay as Mary. I have a long list of cosplays that I need to get on though.
Admittedly, I haven't even started the second season. I've been waiting for it to come on Netflix!

Thank you! And yay, more Downton fans!! :)
I really want to cosplay Daisy in her striped dress at some point. So glad there are other people wanting to cosplay Downton. :D
and your Anna looks awesome, you look identical to the actress. It's lovely!

And thank you!!

FINALLY!!! I cosplay Edith, and have done two of her costumes for a library hosted party, with a third coming up in the summer. I've done her series three pink dress and a random dinner party dress. I'm doing her flower show dress on June 13th!

You make a great Edith, I especially love the pink dress! Glad to see more Downton cosplayers! Do post pictures of the flower show dress after the event! :)
Unfortunately, my local PBS station doesn't do any Downton events, which is a major bummer. :( But I'm going to wear Anna to a convention at the end of May. :)

Thanks!!!! I'm currently redoing my pink dress because I got the wrong trim but didn't have time to order any new ones, so I basically had to remove it all and now have to figure out how to get the iron on gunk off, but thankful it's easy to cover with new trim
The flower show dress is pretty much complete, all I need is the green ribbon for the dress, a under shirt to get the lace pattern on the trim, but I plan to use this dress also for Young Snow White so can't just sew it on, and then just have to get gloves and decorate the hat. I need new white gloves because I cut the ones I have up for my Young Snow White cosplay
If you are ever at an Eastern Con, or we ever happen to go to the Same con, we should totally do a Downton Meet Up. My friend is making Cora's season 1 dress right now, from the Flower show episode

I'm hoping to make it to a East Coast con at some point, but unfortunately it doesn't look like I can this year. :( But it would be totally awesome to have a Downton group!!

In the off chance that someone in California lurks this thread, I'll be wearing my Anna costume at Fanime and we would love to meet up with any Downton fans. :)

Edwardian clothing was what got me all started into liking costumes... my mother and I used to work at a historic house as volunteers and dressed around the 1910-era...
For anyone attempting Downtown S1/2 cosplay, check out www.sensibility.com if you can't find someone to help here. There are LOADS of women making historical outfits (many using period techniques) as well as research images and patterns for Victorian and Edwardian clothes

Just found this which is more for quilting but the stripe/floral fabric could be useful

I would love to do a group cosplay of Downton Abbey. I just need more friends around me that cosplay.

Yay for more Downton cosplay! I'm actually currently at a con dressed as Anna :)

I will make a Downton cosplay next year. I will attend a fantasy convention, Downton is not fantasy, but it will surely will be fun. There are some others who also will attend, so we will have a Downton group cosplay :) There are Mary, Sibyl, Edith, Mrs. Patmore and maybe more.
I will be Edith, and perhaps, if another will make Thomas I will make OŽBrien in addition.

A bunch of us are aiming to having a DA group at Dragon*Con next year :)
