View Full Version : A scout in our midst?

I was just watching Toonami and they had a commercial talking about upcoming competitors and how they might be out done in the future. They even said the same point I made of who was the first to bring gundam, tenchi muyo to the US public. It all seemed too much aligned with our "anime network" thread to be a coincidence. Do we have a reader that works for Toonami?

That's scary and cool at the same time. Maybe it's all one big conspiracy and Mulder and Skully should be brought in.

Interesting, Kirby... perhaps we'll have to start an interrogation of all our members. >) But... what if they are a guest? We'd never know! We get plenty of lurker-types each day, and Ayaka's anti-lurker magner does not always function properly.

That would be sorta neat if someone here had a voice that CN listened to, though. ^_^ I hope they would tell us who they are!

considering ADV already released a press release about the anime network, I wouldn't be surprised if the Toonami people knew about it....

I have no doubt that they know about it. Animation is a very tight knit industry. But it seemed kind of awkward that they said the same points that some of us said, almost word for word...

Besides, I never said it was a bad thing. That just means that someone's actually listening to it's fans for once. :D

Personally, I think the possibility is best that it's a guest. After all, if someone from the industry posts anything industry related, I would have known. :p

Ooh. Freaky O_O;

But yeah, I think that would be cool if someone at Cartoon Network was listening to us (gasp) the fans. ^^

*giggle* Or maybe the people on Anime on DVD had a few of the same points (since it's known that industry people hang out there) ;) Or maybe they thought it up themselves ;)

I'm the real Mulder! I think I'll look into this....

Its actually a pretty clever little advertising strategy. Build your viewer base based upon viewer loyalty before the competition even comes out. The add wasn't outright hostile or anything. When the new chanell airs, then I'll be interested to see the blood fly.

*imagine CN employees in full battle gear charging against employees of the new ADV station*

I need to see this ad now... ^^; I'm curious!

Maybe... just maybe the people at cartoon network are just .... i dunno... intelligent...

11-12-2002, 04:27 PM
I wouldn't say their intelligent. They have made a few newbie anime fan mistakes, but I can say they are, at the very least, at the very beginning, sincere anime fans who wants nothing more than to bring anime to the the US. You all know I like CN and hate ADV, but I'd just like put that aside a while and make one statement that no one can really deny. CN did a miraculous feat by starting an anime block despite all the anti-anime sentiment that was going on in the anime industry at the time. Like I said, I would like to thank them for that at the very least.

I did some work for toonami but small stuff that wouldn't help but I could call a friend that works there, but all I can do is ask for him to view this really and such, thats all so....dont count on me to get him to look.
