Hi. I am thinkin about starting to make an Inuyasha costume. Anyway i was wondering what kind of material would be good to make his outfit. Also, I was wondering what to make the ears out of?

I just made an Inuyasha costume for a friend. For the fabric, I just used red and white cotton sheeting and it came out pretty good. As for the ears, I'm using pink craft foam and some white fuzzy material cut and glued to a really thin headband that can be covered by the wig.

I used a red georgette for the outter robe, which worked beautifully because it made the costume flow the way you would expect it to. Was only $3.00 a meter to boot. =3

Yay! I made this costume for Halloween, it's really not that hard.

Shirt- I used plain red fabric I found for $1 per yard. I used a really baggy sweatshirt as a pattern and just exaggerated the sleeves.

Pants- Lucky me, I was in Fashion Bug and found a pair of 30/32 women's red stretchy pants. It did the job very well.

Hair and ears- You probably won't find a wig that is the exact color and length you need, so I opted to just buy a medium length white one for $25. As for the ears, I used white and pink felt, then sewed them onto the top of it and it looks pretty good.

Tetsusaiga- A cheap solid plastic sword I got out of the dollar store. I scraped some of the silver off and dented it up quite a bit. If you want the transformed one, gomen, you're on your own.

Well I hope I was some help to you. Best of luck on your Inu costume!

Hm. His red thing is supposed to be rat fur, right? I would choose a wool blend, something that might give the impression of woven rat fur, a little bit fuzzy.... but that's just me. And I would use cotton (white) for the under-kimono. There are many threads on making this costume, just use the button in the upper right and search for 'inuyasha' or 'kimono' or 'hakama' or something.

If you search the props and accessories forum (and general help forum, and newbies forum) for "animal ears" or "cat ears" or something, I am sure you will find an existing thread with suggestions. I know he's part dog, but the idea behind the ears is the same. I think it depends if you want to get realistic looking or not. You could use white faux fur, trimmed to an acceptable length (if your store only sells longhair types), with some dyed pinkish and thinned out to look like the inside of the ear. Might help to find a few pictures of dogs to see what type of ear you want to make. You could either attach them to a headband (paint it or buy a white one), or sew them right to the wig.

Good luck with everything.

I used plush material for my ears at first then i found the white "bear" fur. it comes out much nicer if done right. for the red costume i just used a red cotton material. be careful with the cheap stuff tho. you dont want to be c-through

For my Inuyasha costume I bought red and white linen, it looks really good and is very close to the right colors, for my ears I used white fuzzy fleece and, peach felt and sewed them on to my wig :)

FOr the outfit use cotton it's easy to cut and sew. For the ears i would not use a shaggy looking fabric i have seen some people use it and i don't like it. I would use a soft fabric. Cause Kagomes like that. lol. I did see this one Inuyasha with ears that squeaked when you rubbed them. I was very cute.

Hi, I suggest you use Broad Cloth (50% Cotton/50% Polyester). I'm fairly certain that's the name of it... Besides the fact that it's a comfortable fit, it has a slight starchy appearance, which is perfect for the bottum of Inuyasha's pants! :chatah:
